I’ve changed my mind, the music video is fucking brilliant. I like to think the audience is this forum, and the closeups are of various individual members. (@toddwbafc appears at 2:13, for example). igotflair appears at 4:34 Link the vid, I cba to track back for it.

I'm thinking that Noel is taking all of the leftover material that didn't make the cut for WBTM and throwing it on a smattering of EP's to make a quick buck. Don't think that's the case at all. He needed new material to tour, really. I don't really agree with the consensus that either BSD or RR sound like WBTM songs, either, tbh. BSD is a continuation of the same path, kinda, but RR sounds more akin to a Right Stuff/Riverman hybrid than anything else.

I woke up to BSD today I use the TV as an alarm clock, it always turns on the same news channel. They were in transition between sections with the weather forecast and BSD was playing wow a telly alarm, what kind of tv do you have All TVs have timers. I'd rather wake up to the news than the annoying alarm noise. Been doing that since HS

The video for BSD could have a deeper meaning,
1. Noel´s making a comment on his fans (old folks who aren´t gonna get his "avant garde" song). Maybe he is teaching new tricks to the the elderly, an idea recycled from the album cover for The Masterplan.
2. Or maybe it is just that he acknowledges his age and lack of connection with young audiences?

Considering how Noel famously can't be arsed about making music videos, we shouldn't expect any profound meaning in them.

My son has been asking Alexa to play this song almost daily since it became available.
He says he likes the beat.
Fair play I suppose.

I still love this song.......I have a really nice shaped head, I've been told that on several occasions, I'm not sure what means, all with clothes on....
Thanks.

Not so sure about the video, but the song is just random: He was asked on the radio what the words "black star dancing" meant and said it was just "nonsense"

After a few listens I still like this song but I do think the intro is a little too long and I wish there was another run through the chorus after the guitar solo but before the outro. Otherwise, this still sounds very good.

Neither this one or SW got me pumped. Rattling Rose is great but God. 3 EPs. When the third comes out the hype will be dead.

Collect them and put it on an album?

Wasn't one of the Beatles albums supposed to be a kids album? I think kids care most about having background music while doing other things... Black Star Dancing is great for that. No need to invest too heavily in listening as it were.

I was just thinking the same thing...for me, there just isn't enough IN these songs to keep me coming back. Currently, they are both on a massive Oasis/NG/LG iTunes playlist and only see the light of day according to the "Shuffle" algorithm.

I think the songs has increased from a 5 to a 6 in my opinion. There’s than initial discomfort as it sounds so unlike anything I’d typically choose to listen to on my own. But then in 5-10 seconds it starts to feel like classic New Order, and a bit of 70s Bee Gees and it’s decent. My favourite part is still the guitar fuzz solo, which makes the song. I’m pretty sure that’s Paul Stacey playing, it reminds me of a rougher STC solo.
Rattling rose is a little better, 6.5 maybe. I love the bass hopping around and there’s good bits in it but sometimes (during the instrumental I think) it feels so 70s I start seeing beige and bell bottoms everywhere.
(For competitive sake, I’d probably put Shockwave at 6.8)

I still really like this song, it's fun, I like to have fun......great beat, simple; the only thing I like to put thought into is my hair. Nice to play it while digging holes in the woods....
Thanks.
