After a quick first listen at work gotta say that FOOF was the only song that stuck out for me tbh. It's good though.

It leaked in good quality today mate wasnt that someone that Tagged a DG album and then uploaded it to make it look like this new álbum? No mate. First someone did that. Then came the ig livestream. And today it leaked in hq. I'm listening to it with good headphones and I must say James Ford is a brilliant producer.

First listen, I like it. Quite different from anything previous. 4/5 is the only clear single. The Ultracheese was unexpectedly good.
I'm happy!

There's a HQ CD version online. Not this a bit speed up version. It's a lot clearer

I liked Star Treatment, One Point Perspective, Four Out Of Five and the Ultracheese. Everything else melts into one tempo identical instrumentation a bit. I'm sure once I've heard it a few more times things will stick out. Some laugh out loud (or LaOuLo as you kids say) moments in there.

It’s been said many many times already but this doesn’t really feel like a Monkeys record. Feels like a cross between an Alex Turner solo effort and The Last Shadow Puppets. Many of the songs do sound so so similar that they sorta blend together. There is no clear cut single. Even Four out of Five is just ok. I don’t hear hit single when I play it. Just a normal album track. I think my favorite song on the album is the title track.

Definitely a album that won't please anyone expecting riff's and big anthems, this is a album that needs repeated listening. But for sure it's another notch for Turner and Co, you can tell he listened to a lot of Bowie, Cohen, Gainsbourg and the Beatles when writing this. But that's why I love the Monkey's, they don't give a damn about expectations but follow their own muse. It's made them a more interesting band for it.
But you have to admire the balls to come back with a album like this after the huge success of AM. I'm on my 3 listen of it, so I give a more in depth review later. But overall so far I'm pleased with what I hear.

5th listen and I'm starting to love every song. Including Golden Trunks. The falsetto part is brilliant

It´s their best record since Humbug IMO. But it totally feels more like a TLSP album than a AM album. After appealing to the mainstream crowd with AM, i think Turner just decided to experiment and say fuck it and it has worked out quite well, loving the album.

Good album, good production, I can even see a bit of Pulp influences (Jarvis crooning), but there is a sameness throughout the album that I didn't like.
It's the same mood throughout, same midtempo melodies with Alex crooning on all of the songs like he is very drunk singing in a pub late at night, quality songs, but sometimes one goes to another and you barely notice.
The album begs for a fast paced song, at least one to boost the energy a bit, one Aviation or even Bad Habits.

A little bit more of variety would help the album flow,it gets a bit boring at times. Good record though

Love AM, although it seems to be looked down upon cause it's the big commercial album. But it's probably their best album for me. I can't imagine Noel listening to Dr Dre or Stoner rock, but Oasis could have done with album that just pissed off fans cause it wasn't what they expected. The Ultracheese, Four Out of Five, Golden Trunks, Star Treatment and title track are fantastic.

If you like it great, if you don't, we don't give a shit. And I don't like it and I don't feel it atm. I'm in the different mood right now, weather is great etc. I listened to it twice and found out that I was just wasting my time because I just don't feel it right now but I don't think its bad. I will give this album another chance in autumn.

Good thing Arctic Monkeys are still (somewhat of) a band not a brand.
This record stretches the definition of what Arctic Monkey can be/sound like by peering over the edge into Turner's solo career/Last Shadow Puppets territory. Definitely sounds like a Turner record written on piano, not many scene stealing moments of Helders or Nick. Melodic and listenable, but not necessarily accessible.
Swirly spooky space lounge music definitely inspired by a lot weed, LA, and Scott Walker. Turner is arguably in peak lyrical form. Definitely more personal than some of the other records, and he can still a conjure up a clever quip, and reorder and randomized a turn of phrase like no else in his generation; However the subject matter of him being tired or wary of being a rock star, or being famous, whatever you want to call it is kinda getting played out for me, especially coming from a dude whose been famous since he was 18.
