Thanks to all the people who share details from Matt's podcast here, I really appreciate it.
So Album #4 will be more guitar oriented, produced by Noel and new song Pretty Boy sounds like The Cure? Can't wait.

One of the songs he worked on this year and will probably see the light on a forthcoming release sounds like U2 - Bad (no pun intended nor joking bc of the title!)
So a little 80s vibe and more proper riffs/guitars again sounds legit.

There's a little mention in Mojo 327 (February 2021): Noel Gallagher is working on a new High Flying Birds release. As well as wanting John Squire to play guitar on it, he says new song Pretty Boy sounds like The Cure. "I'm doing this album on my own," he told Radio X. "They'll be pop songs but they'll be a bit edgy." Is this Radio X interview available to hear or did we all miss it?! Nice. Although didn't he once describe What A Life as being quite edgy? My god, Dave Sardy really did dirty things to make Noel so bland to think that What A Life edgy ten years ago.

The live version sounds badass tbf Don't get me wrong, I like it but it's not as adventurous as Noel thought initially. In hindsight, if anything it signifies a direction away from the Oasis sound.

Keep in mind when he wrote it it was this mellow swing thing (https://youtu.be/ncrFbzE2OzA), so by comparison the album version is edgy af.

Noel has grown into being a technically-solid and emotive singer to match his top-notch songwriting and melodic abilities. I love the way the guitars are mic'ed here too, such a whole-sounding mix.

No surprise Noel is going back to a more guitar focused sound. He won't have enjoyed the reaction to his last album, despite him protesting to the death that he doesn't care (you don't post an instagram saying look look parka monkeys these lot like it! if you aren't butthurt).
I felt like he was in such good form with Chasing Yesterday and songs like Sail On are a reminder that he can be so great when he stays in his lane. When he's going with a concept to appeal to his musical peers he just loses sight of that.

Sounds harsh, but with how dull an album I thought Chasing Yesterday was and given that he's ditched a top producer for himself, I couldn't really care less about this new one.
He gave me everything I wanted with Who Built The Moon, it was just the type of album I wanted from him so there's nothing I can regret from his solo career, but it seems a cop out to go back and compromise.

I just listened to Bad for the first time. I’m not a massive U2 fan to be honest. It just sounds like any other generic U2 song to me, apart from being really long.
If Noel wants to start rocking a sexy braces look though, count me in. X

There's also the song that sounds like Burt Bacharach doing motown. Gets said way in the beginning of him talking about recording new songs.
