Nobody is touring for a long long time. Id be shocked if summer 2021 people are touring. Especially at large festivals. We are still in the beginning of this madness.

I think Noel doesn’t have the touring band on his records so he doesn’t have to pay them royalties.
Why pay them a cut when he pay a session musician a one-off payment and never have to pay them again?

Be like George and go Triple Album, king of them all. That 3rd LP is trash though. Just saying. It's just abunch of instrumental jams by great musicians, nothing spectacular but wouldn't say trash.

I wonder when the new album will be released. Obviously I don't expect anything until at least next year. And, we all know that Noel can be lazy at times. Best case scenario would be spring next year, but I guess it will also depend on what the situation is with all this COVID stuff Noel's on a small, independent label, it's basically his money, I'm not sure he wants to put something out without the chance to promote it Plus I don't think he wants to go against Liam, so I'd expect at least a couple of months to go by if Liam gets an album out first If Glastonbury is going down tho there's no way we don't get at least a single by mid june Yeah that's true. Mind you, hopefully Noel will have his own recording studio up and running before the end of the year so he'll be able to get to work on some more new music.

Personally I liked Noel's third album even though I don't listen to it a lot. For me his second album Chasing Yesterday is his best. I love that album and listen to it more than Who Built The Moon?

All double-albums are fake. Just one album so long you needed two discs. Fake news if you ask me. Nah, there are double albums that are double albums with a distinct split in them. Also I'm pretty sure nowadays it's just a concept carried over from the vinyl-only days. Even EP/LP can get fucky in the age of Spotify and streaming. Some EPs are on the Album pages of some artists on there. But artists do sometimes make statements that take longer than one vinyl record and are distinct halves. Just not often as the business is still a business. The NME had an interesting take on this topic the other day www.nme.com/features/spotify-daniel-ek-three-to-four-years-controversy-criticism-2721051Streaming has definitely changed albums. Hip Hop artists in particular pad out their albums with filler just for the extra streams (Migos I’m looking at you). www.rollingstone.com/pro/news/why-are-albums-so-long-right-now-203591/Whereas many DJs and commercial dance artists don’t even bother putting albums out now. They just do singles and get all their earnings from turning up to gigs with USB sticks. Anyway, I’m glad to hear Noel threatening a double album. He could nail it with the right track choice and mix of traditional versus more experimental songs. Even if he pares it back to a single album, I like that he’s still old school and thinks properly about his albums even if he’s flirted with EPs recently. X

To be fair Noel’s had a really great work ethic since going solo. A worldwide pandemic and delayed studio build would be the perfect excuse for him to take some time off to catch up on World War II movies, but instead he’s in someone else’s studio working a few short months since his last release. The Apple Jam is something that's just there and could've been released separately, probably tacked on to make the album seem larger than life.

He could just as well have them sign work for hire agreements like he does any other session player that comes to record. That’d be a pretty standard operating agreement. I think Noel doesn’t have the touring band on his records so he doesn’t have to pay them royalties. Why pay them a cut when he pay a session musician a one-off payment and never have to pay them again?

I hope I’m wrong but I do not believe Noel will ever drop a double album. This is Noel Thomas David Gallagher we are talking about!

Also has he got enough songs written which he's satisfied with at the moment to put on an album. We all know that Noel doesn't always like his own songs.

Hip hop artists already had the deplorable habit of padding out their albums to CD capacity (74 mn) in the mid-nineties, there was even a trend around 1997-1999 to make double albums after 2Pac & Biggie released theirs. Of course quality was inconsistent to say the least, as most rap acts only had a couple of decent songs floating somewhere amid these overindulging albums (Snoop Dogg is a famous case in point). That's why I mostly avoid these overlong albums, I reluctantly listen to them only if they have the reputation of being classics, I don't want to have to trudge through endless generic filler to look for one or two good songs amid the crap heap (e.g. Lil Wayne albums). A shorter hip hop album on the other hand means quality control wasn't dispensed with, the artist decided to trim the weaker parts instead of offloading this tedious job onto the hapless listener. Now they supposedly release never ending albums for the sake of streaming figures; to me they just keep doing what they've consistently been doing for the past 25 years.

Oh I agree hip hop albums have been too long for a long time. Skits, fooking hell, noooo... But it’s a fact that it’s a modern statistical trend that albums are getting longer. I guess it’s only natural as format length increases from vinyl limits (45mins) to CD limits (74mins) to the internet (to infinity and beyond). Hopefully Noel will soon be adding his own double album data point to this data set of massive albooms: “Circle Yer Wagons”: Disc One (Shine On) a tour de force of plaintive songwriting using only an acoustic guitar, a capo and the four chords used in Wonderwall; Disc Two (Shine Off) a cut and paste experimental masterpiece which mixes vaudeville, space jazz and backpack hip hop, composed entirely on an electric kettle. X

It would be great if it was before that but I some how can't see it myself By my count in the last decade of Oasis Noel released ~32 songs. If he puts out an 11 track album in Oct 21, he will have released ~64 songs in his first solo decade, which is double his previous decade! So yeah, Noel has certainly been a lazy fooker in the past, but I think it’s unfair to accuse him of that now. I’m happy for him to take his sweet time about this next album, especially if he wants to make it a double. Given he’s already back in the studio though, he doesn’t seem to be resting on his laurels to me! X

I hadn't counted them all to be honest. I think he probably enjoys being in the studio more these days than when he was in Oasis judging by the few years we had to wait for a new Oasis album to the time he takes now to put out new music.
