Ok the bottom line, Liam still wants to be in Oasis and Noel does not. I don't see this changing this year or the next or the one after that or in 10 years plus. If Liam says he is Oasis and started that band without Noel then he should have kept going with Oasis minus Noel (aka....Beady Eye). We all know how that would have gone down. I feel sorry for Liam. He was comfortable in Oasis. It was built in success. He didn't have to worry. He didn't have to try. It all just came to him. Now times are different. He's running the show. I'm excited to see what happens next. Hopefully a good album and tour.

It sucks... but I'm not sorry for him.

I dont like the way Liam and Noel self deprecate themselves now. Liam saying he shouts into a microphone? Talk about giving fuel to the fire. Isnt even modest, its massively selling yourself short and giving all the haters more reason to hate. Then we have Noel basically rewriting Oasis history as 1994-1996 and shite afterwards. Its so annoying as a fan to see this shit. I agree its good to see Liam be more grounded but dont lose what we have all come to love over the years. Yea, I feel like Liam may be being a little too honest here. Granted, I love the honesty and that he's more grounded, but the Molly parts were very cringey. And his reasoning for Noel wanting to go solo seems super flawed. He says he's not bitter, but he clearly is. And the journalist obviously put the snide question of, "But you're not bitter?" for a reason. He comes off as paranoid and bitter in parts, and a little too self deprecating as you pointed out. His distaste for journos is the most understandable part. Don't remember what interview it was (for the DM documentary, maybe?) but as soon as Liam's bit was done, the interviewer says to Noel "now we can do the real interview". Liam's not the most articulate person when he's not singing, but he's not stupid, or a simpleton. And while he and his brother seem to abuse each other nonstop, to be openly mocked by people whom he's then expected to accept as part of the band's entourage would be rightfully infuriating.

"His ego is too big not to turn up (for gigs)" - Liam on Noel Is that supposed to imply that Noel wouldn't miss a gig because he loves the adulation? Such fucking horseshit (in my opinion). Noel would rather not miss a gig because it's not professional, he always said from the beginning you can do whatever you want on your free time but you've got to turn up on time & be fit to play your gig. Granted, that didn't stop Noel from quitting during the 2000 tour.

Interesting to read that even before Liam joined The Rain he wanted Noel to join as well. Don't think I've read that before. I think the whole story of before the band is completely made up anyway. In fact i think alot of supersonic was just exaggerated stories and completely frabricated bullshit. Paolo Hewitt's book 'Getting High' mentioned before Liam joining Rain he had been asking Noel to form a duo, Gallagher Brothers, which Noel turned down every time. I don't know why you think the whole story of before the band is completely made up. The fact that Liam is probably the first audience of Noel and first one to praise his songwriting talent, should mean something to Noel. Noel said he played Live Forever to his girlfriend and she was very uninterested. To have someone close to you who can appreciate things you dedicate to is always nice.

Or he turns up because...that's his job? What do we know about stories behind the scenes? Didn't Liam say in HS show that Noel once asked to sing first four songs and Liam come on stage at the fifth? Didn't Noel leave the European tour in 2000 and Liam said he will be back to do Wembley bc for Noel it's too big to miss? I suppose the truth is somewhere in between, as they both have misunderstandings of each other. Liam may be biased, but he's not stupid and he certainly knows Noel better than people on a forum. To assume he's just throwing ungrounded attacks is absurd.

This isn't bashing one or the other, but it seems like when Noel's left it's been under "understandable" circumstances, such as during the 2000 tour where Liam questioned the legitimacy of Noel's daughter. Like that's a legitimate reason to have a falling out with any band mate, including your brother. I think that's the difference. Noel didn't up and quit for no reason, and for Liam it at times seems like he either does it for no reason or isn't taking care of himself.

Separately, I do wonder, with Liam's financial situation (I still think he's decently well off, definitely better than me), what does a successful tour/album cycle look like?
How long will he have to tour or how many records will he have to sell to make enough of a profit that he recoups some of his losses? Because it felt like Noel didn't make as much money as he wanted on the CY release ( like made a modest profit). Granted, Noel is on an independent and Liam isn't, but Liam still has to make up any money that he's been fronted from the record company for this tour before he can make a profit (which tends to be a pretty penny).

I'd love to know the finances of tour life for modern day artists. You can't count on record sales anymore so touring is the meal ticket but what is the cut and how much is divided up along the way to the venue, roadies, band members, hotels, travel, etc.

His problem is treating it a bit too much as a business, a job (think about HFB's setlist). On the other hand although Liam's great and passionate when he's on form, he can turn into a time bomb and blow everything up. There're two sides of every coin. I think the debate they had in Wibbling Rivalry is pretty much the ultimate dilemma of Oasis.

An interesting remark is "The more money acts are going to make, it appears, the more ways they can find to spend it on expensive hotels, helicopters and ostentatious stage sets that – in less hubristic moments – they perhaps don’t need. Never underestimate ego and its ability to blow budgets out of the water." Guess BHN tour is a good example

Karaoke’ Doesn’t Need You MATT WILSTEIN 08.17.17 3:00 PM ET PHOTO ILLUSTRATION BY THE DAILY BEAST The biggest stars in the world have done “Carpool Karaoke” with James Corden. Adele. Madonna. Will Smith. Even First Lady Michelle Obama. But there is one singer who says he will never do the popular Late Late Show segment that has now become a standalone series on Apple Music. “No, thank you very much,” the Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher told British GQ last month. “No fucking chance mate. With that fat bloke from Kevin and Perry?” Gallagher was referring to Gavin & Stacey, the British sitcom that Corden starred in before taking over The Late Late Show on CBS in 2015. “I don’t need to watch it to know I won’t like it. James Corden is a knobhead,” he added. “I did see that, yeah,” Corden tells The Daily Beast during a new interview for a larger piece that will appear next week. “God, I just don’t know how we’ll carry on,” he adds with deep snark in his voice. “I don’t how we’ll even think of carrying on. Yeah, God, what will we do?” If his feelings were hurt by Gallagher’s comments, Corden doesn’t let on. And he’s right, “Carpool Karaoke” is doing just fine without the presence of his home country’s most notoriously combative rock star. The segment has delivered The Late Late Show the three most-watched YouTube videos in all of late-night television, with Adele at No. 1 with 166 million views, followed by Justin Bieber at 121 million and www.thedailybeast.com/james-corden-fires-back-at-liam-gallagher-carpool-karaoke-doesnt-need-you

I still wonder if this actually happened or not, Liam never denied it, but still. Especially everything seemed okay for the UK gigs where Oasis would be the first UK band to earn 1,000,000 for a festival linkI'm not saying it didn't happen, and if so, you can't blame Noel for quitting. But I think the album not doing very well + divorce + quitting drugs played a big part in that decision.

What amazes me is that no one else has ever talked about any of the gallagher brothers fights, besides Gem, Andy, Chris... you'd think after all these years that someone in the band, tour, management etc would have spoken. I'm not sure about how nondisclosure agreements work. Maybe it's loyalty?

They're all friends outside the band, even some of their regular crew, so I assume they don't want to sour relationships with either brother.
