www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-40273111I didn't know this: "Oasis were the first act to be paid a six-figure sum when they topped the bill at Reading and Leeds in 2000. Their fee was offset by a £5 hike in the ticket price but, ever since, such figures have become commonplace."

I remember Noel making fun of Frank Zappa on the Definitely Maybe DVD. He was probably pissed off cos he had wanted to call Heathen Chemistry "We're Only In It For The Money" until he found out Zappa had used the title first (and sarcastically).

I think they had only been in it for the money since Be Here Now.

Glastonbury were really keen on getting Oasis for 2000* - but they went with Reading/Leeds.
Now I understand why!

Glastonbury pays shit money but gets away with it because of the constant BBC shilling.

Most bands do festivals for the money anyway.
It's not your fans, people are here more for the vibe than the music, you do a shortened set and most of the time it's a day slot, except for headliners. There is no pressure and it's paying more than well.
I mean, if i was in a band i would do the exact same. If people are stupid enough to pay an enormous amount of money to see tiny people far way, why not charge them more and more ?

If people are stupid enough to pay an enormous amount of money to see tiny people far way, why not charge them more and more ? I was stupid enough to go and saw Oasis, Pulp, Primal Scream, Ian Brown, Rage Against The Machine, Placebo, Foo Fighters & Beck in one weekend. Feeling like a right mug now
