WOW! That's embarrassing for Noel. I was a huge U2 fan in the 90s but they became way too political for me. I'm not interested in a band giving me lectures. I watched a couple clips of U2 and Noel, got a weird vibe from it especially when they sing oasis songs.

It can actually be a good thing for Noel that he has to try hard to win over audiences like that.

We need to get rkid back. He is two step from becoming a vegan. Now I understand Liams frustration. Its like those movies where a family member has been fanaticised by a religious sect

Its like those movies where a family member has been fanaticised by a religious sect It isnt even about an Oasis reunion or the rivalry with Liam for me. It is just a massive waste of a great artist. He's fucking Noel Gallagher. In the 90s he was claiming he was the best songwriter in the world and in the best band in the world. I really hate the way he self deprecates these days to the point where its's actually making it look like Oasis should just know their place in history as that band who struck it big for 2 years in 95 and did fuck all after. As great as supersonic was, i hated how the film basically just reinforced this. When he was saying he was the best in the world, it might not have been true but he was one of the best if not, and there was alot of truth in saying people believe you when you say it. Likewise with the dismissive nature of anything after 1996.

He is not ashamed of us. He doesnt think Im an imbicile because I loved Be here now, or because I listened to a guy who could no longer sing for ten years while he took my money to buy a bigger house. Liam still thinks, speaks and acts like if Oasis was the best band in the world while Noel half of the times seams to want make me believe Im a dumb fuck for liking the band for 15 years. As a hardcore fan I thank liam for that. Despite all his faults.

I can't wrap my head around how he can actually accept and appreciate this.
I know I'm repeating myself but you are OASIS....what a decline. Can he not recognize this while he's out there.
I know Gem is just happy to be working but he has to be thinking this. For the love of God someone has to be saying "we can fill this Arena with Liam next to us.
Absolutely unacceptable behavior. He must be with the elite now or something. He's brainwashed. What's next? Noel wearing colourful Jordans on Stage in a rainbow jumpsuit? Lol

Some shocking posts by the usual suspects in the last page or so.
Yup, being the support act to a huge, sold-out stadium tour of one of the biggest acts on the planet (like them or not, U2 have been on the top of the world for 30+ years now) must be really "embarrassing" and "such a decline". I mean... he's not supporting Harry Styles, is he?
Also... I happen to follow a few U2 fanpages and Noel is getting unanimous praise from pretty much everyone. I see a lot of posts and retweets about "how good Noel Gallagher was" and such. The average U2 fan might be as beige as you like it but maybe he/she isn't as dismissive of other bands as the average Oasis fan, who can barely see beyond Kasabian or the fucking Libertines.

I still don't see the problem with it and I'm confused as to why everyone is so uptight about it. Noel is supporting his mates who happened to be in a mega sized band on tour. He opened for Weller in 98' when much the bigger artist! I understand the questions about the setlist, I personally think with such a body of work he could dig a little deeper even for a support role.

Anyone else find this embarrassing and uncomfortable.. Noel warming up for U2 in a stadium singing Champagne Supernova and other than these 2, not a single other fuck was given that day.... lol. Noel is such a below average frontman. Oasis can fill that stadium and get a full on sing-along. I know it's U2 fans but still... He can't feel that great about this...it's such a decline. This has to give him the itch. It has to. http://instagr.am/p/BWnenkzgQsF It is incredible that Noel settles for this. Like you said Oasis can fill that themselves quite easily and have a crowd singing every single word. I dont see what Noel gains from supporting them either. Isnt like anyone is going to not know who Noel Gallagher is and if they arent singing along, they obviously dont like his songs and aren't going to change their opinion based on fucking What A Life that they might not have heard before. the food is pretty good though

I used to like Noel's interviews, he's a funny guy, but the way he now speaks about Oasis is depressing, I agree.

Noel criticising Oasis always reminds me of Liam telling him in this video "You should have a bit more fucking respect for our band".

Liam having a go at noel for not putting his best songs on albums. Doesn't explain what happened with BE though.
Shoobedoobedoo bollocks... a succinct ctitique of much of oasis later output from liam there 😴

Lol Gem was moaning that Beady Eye were doing festivals where no one knew them. Now he is basically playing songs to a crowd where everyone is just stood there again. Absolutely no different.

Why is it anyone who doesnt like another band is labelled with that? I know plenty of Oasis fans and none of them have the small music taste you are generalising them with. The point is i dont think Noel should be supporting anyone. Didnt he turn down David Bowie and Rolling Stones in the 90s? Thats the real Oasis attitude. Isnt about what we think of u2. I love the Joshua Tree but i think the band became absolute vaginas. Isnt relevant. He should not be playing those great songs to a bunch of people who dont appreciate them when theres millions who will. He wont gain any new fans from a fucking support slot. And if he didnt think Oasis needed it in 1997 then Noel Gallagher at 50 certainly doesnt fucking need it.

Aside from any particular argument about noel, there is a part of me that thinks support slots like this should be for up and coming bands to gain exposure. Maybe you could argue there is less need for that in these days of instant Internet access. But certainly there is little to be gained for someone of Noel's stature in doing this. If he's just interested in having a good time with his mates then fair enough that's up to him, but certainly there are hundreds of smaller bands that would kill for the opportunity.
Bonos quest to save the planet doesn't seem to extend to the music industry...
and that's a joke before any oversensitive keyboard warriors get upsetðŸ˜

Let's not be too critical, Noel wasn't even supposed to tour when he's 50 (I remember reading an old interview where he actually said he won't be touring when he is 35 ).

There are plenty of bands that are good enough to support them and could really do with the exposure. Everyone in that crowd will know Noel Gallagher and they arent singing his songs. What good is that doing anyone?

Anyways, i hope by the end of this he wants to play Massive stadiums again as OASIS...seeing him in the first few rows taking it in like a fan when U2 is on is interesting behavior for Noel. Maybe he's had a life changing experience or something but either way one thing is certain. He will NEVER EVER fill a stadium as a high-flying bird. He will only ever do it with Liam in the middle.

Oasis could had been one of the biggest bands ever and not just of a decade. Its such a waste!

bigger doesn't mean better. i'm not that fond of stadium gigs myself. my dream would be to see oasis play a smaller venue.
