Except on Keep The Dream Alive. Good enough tune, HORRIBLE vocal. Horrible vocal or horrible lyrics? ? They turned me off completely. Can't stomach that song, The Beat Goes On or Standing On The Edge of Noize. Horrible vocal, Liam sounds horrendous on it.

Lmfao at the 10, 9, 8.....and even 7 ratings.
So it's as good as DLBIA then? What utter rubbish.

Can't get past a 6/10 for me. Love the instrumental and production but the melody on verses is too boring and the lyrics do not help at all. Chorus is ok so it makes a bit above average for me.

I actually love it, guitar is amazing, voice is raw... Was disappointed when I heard WAG, this is amazing IMO.

If Noel would release Chinatown everyone would think it is "genius". For instance: "If I had a gun" simply has no melody whatsoever. It's just two or three notes repeating themselves over and over. It's horrible, but still a lot of people thought it was "genius". Pathetic. Chinatown is much better, and probably also more likeable for a broader audience, than almost any of Noel's solo stuff. Sorry for my english.

The production in the end killed it, go back and listen to the original acoustic leak with was great. If this wasn't a Liam song it'd get absolutely nowhere. My 19year old nephew is writing much, much, much better stuff than this!

Easy to check for yourself. I highly doubt that your nephew could write this. Most non-Oasis fans I've talked to likes Chinatown. It's quite beautiful.

I quite like China Town and If I Had A Gun does have a melody. Can I like both songs, can't I?

Please don't turn this thread like an another Noel vs Liam "debate". I quite like China Town and If I Had A Gun does have a melody. Can I like both songs, can't I? Sure. You may like "If I had a gun" as much as you want, but it has no melody. I don't mind people loving "To be where there's life". That's OK. But I would never pretend that it has an (amazing) melody, or that it is "genius". It's just a few, predictable, notes repeating themselves. Generic, dull (and absolutely crap, but this is of course just my opinion). Let's all make believe, Don't go away, Stand By Me and Whatever have melodies, and they are great, great songs. Paper crown has a melody but is not a great song (according to my humble opinion). If I had a gun and To be where there's life almost have no melodies whatsoever. You may still like them, but my newphew could easily have written them, as one forum member put it. Sorry for my english.

Best of the new ones. I actually like this song. Can't really say that for any of the other songs. It seems more natural and flowing. Doesn't try to be something it's not. oh and Liam sounds absolutely amazing on this. It suits his voice

If you think If I Had A Gun has no melody, then it's fine. and if your nephew could easily have written these songs, it's also fine. I'm not a fan of T Be Where There's Life, but the song was great live when I saw them in 2009. I like what I like and I don't need to have the last word.

I have to admit that I do not actually think that my nephew could have written "If I had a gun". I was just trying to make fun of some comment above saying that someone's nephew could have written Chinatown. I'm quite sure that's not true. I agree with TBWTIL live. And some other things you write. I just thinks it's a bit pathetic to call some things "genius" when they are not (at least in my opinion) even close to being genius. I just think Chinatown is quite beautiful and I notice many non-Oasis fans I've spoken to also do. That's all.

Subtract the pre-chrous and the verses are the same and the chorus nearly follows the same progression.

I don't read music, I just play, they both start with G... that's it, both take different routes after that... not the same, unless I'm playing them wrong, which I doubt.
