The album has been leaked. By a US reviewer, apparently.
Still haven't decided if I'm going to listen to it or not.

The album has been leaked. By a US reviewer, apparently. Still haven't decided if I'm going to listen to it or not. Apparently Rachel is pretty pissed about it getting out so out of respect to her and the band I won't listen right now. I can wait 2 weeks. From what I've read from those who heard it, the songs we've heard so far are the weakest compared to the rest of the album. I noticed 'No Longer Making Time' and 'Sugar for the Pill' sound too alike in my opinion, chord progression very identical. I would say it does suck for artists to have their work released without consent all over the web, but we live in a age where data is transferred instantaneously at the smallest increment of a second in time every day. That's why the pay-what-you-want digital release worked so well with Radiohead - get a crappy free low bitrate mp3 version of the album out, and true fans would still come out and support the proper retail release. You avoid unwanted leaks this way - plus keeping your music out of reach of sketchy review organizations (which apparently someone here in the US streamed the whole album).

I'm gonna get this album when it comes out. Love Rachel's voice.

The live set from today can be watched again on Youtube. They performed Slomo and Star Roving from the new album, plus classic tunes Avalyn, Slowdive and Catch the Breeze. Needless to say, it's absolutely mesmerizing. Watch it if you have 30 minutes to spare. EDIT: mp3s of the live set are available in the Slowdive bootleg thread.

I got my Japanese edition of the album today! The bonus track '30th June' is very good too, I think they could have squeezed it into the regular album somewhere, keeping 'Falling Ashes' as a closer because that song works perfectly where it is.

Just bought their new album today. My favourite tracks are Star Roving, Sugar For the Pillm, No Longer Making Time and Falling Ashes.
This album is a jewel. I already have 4 gigs in October, but very tempted to see them in same month too.

It's incredible to hear how a comeback album from a band that had been inactive for 20 years manages to sound so fresh and modern. I'm also happy to see that they seem to have gathered a lot of new and younger fans with this new record, I've noticed a lot of praise pretty much everywhere.

Yeah the album is incredible. Currently my favourite album this year. And the listening experience was very memorable because we were sleeping in a small tent that night with 10 guys and it was my turn to take care of the fire. I just put me headphones on and sat next to the stove while adding logs at 3am or something

Been listening to this album on repeat today. It's true beauty. My local recordshop owner told me that he sold so many copies of this album. Very fresh and modern indeed. Absolute one of my best albums this year next to Weller's.

Seeing Slowdive in Oxford tonight, should be a nice contrast to Liam Gallagher last night

I'm tempted to see them in Paradiso in October, but I already have 4 gigs in that month (Sigur Ros, Mogwai and The National x 2) and guess if Liam announces a Euro tour...

Personally, the best parts of last night were from the new album, I mean I got shivers when Sugar for the Pill came on Souvlaki Space Station and Crazy for You were also highlights, beautiful hearing that guitar line echo round the place on the latter. Older stuff was ok, but overall I preferred it when they dialled it back it back a bit and focussed on the atmosphere over guitars like on Pygmalion & the new album. Was a great sort of comedown from Thursday, so there wasn't borderline moshing to Alison like there was to Rock 'N' Roll Star

Slowdive were in Santa Monica yesterday to record a 6-songs session for KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic. They always have some great artists and great live performances on there. I ripped the full thing, which is available in mp3 format in the usual Slowdive bootleg thread. KCRW has uploaded the video for 'Sugar for the Pill' on YT, hopefully more are coming soon:

Indeed Morning Becomes Ecletic always has great sessions by various bands and thanks for ripping and sharing, carlober.
Their new album is a pure jewel, true beauty. I'm still enjoying to listening to it again and again. The closing track "Falling Ashes" is probably the most beautiful song I've heard recent years.
