With all the injured players we have, I don't think France is the big favorite with Germany anymore...

Republic of Ireland assistant manager Roy Keane admits Jon Walters is the side's key fitness concern but is hopeful the Stoke man will be fit for their Euro 2016 opener against Sweden on Monday.
Captain Robbie Keane trained with his Republic of Ireland team-mates for a second consecutive morning at Abbotstown earlier today as he continues his comeback from a calf strain but Robbie Brady (back) sat it out.
Walters’ Achilles strain saw him miss another session as he instead trained at the gym and did some light running.
“It’s not ideal of course but I think he’s feeling better in himself," Keane told RTÉ Sport.
"The medical staff are looking after him and there has been improvement.
“Jon is a lot more positive about it and we’re probably looking more towards the end of the week...
“Jon’s a fit lad anyway so hopefully that won’t be a problem for next week. Obviously, the closer we get to the game, Jon would be the biggest worry but we’ll play it by ear, day to day.

J-1, already, fuck it. I don't what to expect for this first match so far. Romania seems like a trap game.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to watch any of the tournament, but I'll see if I can find a way.
In any case, here's the Official England Euro 2016 thread.

Serious question: how good is England going into this Euro? The roster looks pretty good, top 5 material for sure.

I think we will have a big surprise that year. A "little" team in the semis. Poland is a serious outsider, Croatia, Austria, Ukraine. None of the favorites have impressed so far...

^The myth is that Germany always looks average at best going into tournaments but start playing great once it counts. It was definitely like that in 2014 - qualifiers and friendlies before were terrible, still won.
The 24 team thing makes it much more likely that a small team gets far - most 1/8 finals will have at least one small team competing, some two, while Portugal will probably face Italy or Belgium right away...that being said Poland might actually be as good as the big names, with a very solid team and a world class striker.

I'm hoping ESPN makes all the matches available on replay through their ap, just as NBC does with the Premier League matches. It's the only way I'll be able to watch Euro 2016. Crazy Joe Davola, you're good at finding this information....? If that's the case, I'll watch the England matches on replay and post on here after the fact. Really not amped for this one. Probably just due to feeling so disconnected from it this time round.

Can't believe France '98 was 18 years ago. That being said, I've always found it unfair that the French got another tournament so soon. England had to wait 30 years between the two, and have been waiting 20 years since Euro '96. But that's okay, cos....QATAR 2022.

Even me as french, I find weird we have had 3 major competitions in 32 years.

Payet could maybe give Niall McGinn a run for player of the tournament.
