Heard Hello by Adele on the radio again. Man, is that song an overly saccharine, sappy, cliche-filled sludge. Like everything else on the pop charts these days.

Eventually people will get fed up with it, and something new and fresh will come along (hopefully guitar-based pop) to shake up the landscape again, sort of like what Get Lucky and Uptown Funk did.

The Stone Roses are a seriously underrated band. In just two albums, they covered A LOT of ground and released some really good songs that had some strong pop melodies while being a little off-the-beaten path in experimenting with dance, blues, psychedelia, funk, and even a little bit of jazz (see Shoot You Down).

I just want that third album. My top 10 TSR songs (because why not?) 1) I Am the Resurrection 2) This Is The One 3) Waterfall 4) Daybreak 5) Standing Here 6) One Love 7) Going Down 8) (Song For My) Sugar Spun Sister 9) Elephant Stone (12" Single version) 10) Tightrope Honorable Mentions: EVERYTHING ELSE

Just switch Standing Here for I Wanna Be Adored. That said, I've not heard Standing Here or other Stone Roses bsides. Maybe I should take some time to do that...

I Am the Resurrection is an amazing song. That outro is not long enough and could go on forever.

I Am the Resurrection is an amazing song. That outro is not long enough and could go on forever. Glad The Roses are getting the recognition they deserve here. Too much bashing because they're lazy! That record changed my feelings about music and my life for the better. Probably never listening to something other than Definitely Maybe that could do that.

Reminds me of a certain other artist.

Best/worst Beatles songs by songwriter:
Paul: Hey Jude/Wild Honey Pie
John: Tomorrow Never Knows/Dig a Pony
George: While My Guitar Gently Weeps/Piggies
Ringo: Octopus's Garden/Don't Pass Me By
Didn't include anything from before Rubber Soul because I never listen to those albums.

I liked the last Blur album, but it has shrinked on me over the months.
It is all too mid tempo, not much variation, the production is great, but it seems that it is the exactly same production for every song, so some of the songs starts to blend with each other that you don't notice.
Also apart from Lonesome Street there aren't other memorable great songs, songs that would be up there with Parklife, Tender or The Universal, there is none on par actually.

'The Queen is Dead' (the song) is one of the best songs ever I think. It has just the right production, just the right dark and vicious lyrics, as Morrissey plays the part of a guy with the world ending around him perfectly in the vocal department. The tempo is unnerving and fast paced, Marr's guitar tone and pedal mastery is mesmerizing, Joyce's drumming, especially in the beginning, is punk perfection, Rourke's bass is tuned perfectly - and that outro!
If I could describe 4:30 onwards - it's "Jangle Pop Psychedelia". I don't know how I can properly capture it in a actual adjective other than that. It's haunting and trippy, but in a post-punk and jangle pop way, especially with the drumming and bass. But then here comes Marr with the Wah-Wahs and crazy overdrive effects that just takes it to a completely new level of badass.
