RIP Eric Wagner of Trouble and The Skull, that whole Covid 19 doesn't kill under 70's is a load of baloney.

If these lads were british/americans they'd be hailed as one of the best bands of the 2010s

Been getting into Big Beat. I've always liked the genre but this week I took a deep dive in it and I'm loving it.
I've been getting myself familiar with the local rave scene this summer and I realised I could actually get "gigs" as a DJ as long as I learn the equipment and the process. And at first I thought it'd be cool to play acid house but I realised I want something faster and with bigger beats and Big Beat seems just perfect coz no one actually plays big beat sets but I occasionally hear songs in that genre at raves. So I thought why couldn't I just do sets almost exclusive to just that genre.
I've already found some really cool sounding songs that have very few plays on Spotify and I know they'd go down well at raves. And if I mixed the set with some of the more popular ones in the genre (Chemical Bros, the Prodigy, fatboy slim, etc.) I think people would really like it.
Even though they aren't my songs I really like the idea of playing something myself and see how people react to "my" music. Also since I have friends who are organising these events and there have been hundreds of people in those parties it'd be a really cool opportunity for me to perform and enjoy being an "artist". I'm setting a goal to play something next summer and it's very realistic I think because I have all winter to practice if I buy a DJ deck for myself. And who knows, maybe the next step is making my own songs after that.

Breaking news: Guy without ear on Mullmuzzler's Keep it to yourself sues other guy for defying gravity and the inability to shut up.

Steven Wilson has released the digital deluxe version of The Future Bites. I am Cliche sounds like a attack on shoe0nhead (while sounding like a bastard child of Tangerine Dream and Space) given he uses her intro near songs end.

I just want to pre-empt this post, especially on an Oasis forum, by saying I like Blur and a huge fan of Demon Days.
But I'm astonished that nobody has picked up on the fact that Damon Albarn can't write a tune to save himself these days.
Window dressing Gorillaz with all the right sonic trickery and amazing collaborations doesn't make up for the fact that it is largely tuneless dirges now.

To be honest I thought the last Gorillaz record (not this EP) was a huge improvement over the previous two Sure the collaborations played a big role, but it was a step in the right direction Still think the best thing he's done in the last 10 years is his solo record, the rest has been quantity over quality for the best part

I always found the best Gorillaz songs are the ones he’s signing 75% of the time.

I’m watching this DVD about The Kinks I found. It’s called The Kinks in Performance but it’s mostly all critics going on about how everything since Waterloo Sunset is a waste of time, soulless, not good enough, etc.
I get it, their glory days were that period in the 60s. But this band (much like Oasis) made some phenomenal music after their peak period. I want to enjoy the band and hear about the songs but I don’t want to listen to critics thumb their noses at everything for an hour and twenty minutes.
There’s an Oasis one like this “celebrating” Morning Glory but it’s all critics dismissing the songs, saying they’re not as good as DM, they’re stretched to their limits, middling, etc. These people probably weren’t hugged enough as kids or something.
Just enjoy the music! If you don’t like it, then bugger off and let me hear from someone who really felt impacted and moved by the music. I was/am, that’s why I’m watching the thing!

Would like to hear people's thoughts on Marilyn Manson on the new Kanye album. Does this prove cancel culture is dead?

You could argue that the 80's in the UK were mostly dominated by mancunian bands. But let's not forget about the Merseyside...

Is anyone surprised though? It's quite obvious why The Verve probably hold the record for most breakups ever due to this colossal tosser. The more you find out, the more I feel for the sorry guys who had to put up with that jackass.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to hear what their new songs sound like and if they're actually any good.
