Why does this song remind me of my heavy depressed period (2010-2014)?
Only mildly 10 years on.

I've spent the day revisiting one of Kansas City's finest, The Get Up Kids- I loved how intense they were especially live

I don't know if anyone's into "rave" music here but I'd totally recommend this underground genre from Finland: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SuomisaundiTbh I had never even heard of it until I became friends with people who went to raves (we had a mutual interest in psychedelics and bands like Primal Scream and Stone Roses which I thought was a huge coincidence since this is in Finland and we met totally randomly in a non-music related situation). Here's a quote why I find the genre really interesting: A few song examples: I wonder if people like Weatherall ever heard music from this genre. I was trying to google but I only found both Suomisaundi and Weatherall's tracks in playlists/compilations but not anything about Weatherall playing them himself.

As you pointed out Suomisaund branched out from the Goa sound, which Weatherall was into and so I think would have been aware of it. An in depth piece referencing both genres and Weatherall can be found here - Goa Trance- A Way of Life!

Jamie xx coming through, per usual. Great song. He incorporates elements of techno, house, psychedelia, and jungle in that, and the stereo shifting is trippy as hell but sounds awesome.

Johnny marr is here to teach you how to play The Headmaster Ritual!
I’m going to try and learn this tomorrow. Last week I learned most of the bass lines to Rusholme Ruffians and This Charming Man.

Man... This song is a fucking mess but it really rocks live and has some sort of purpose. Certainly not as a lead single, like it ended up being, but it has a purpose:

Breathe, the titletrack or Magnificent wouldve been a better first single.

Breathe, the titletrack or Magnificent wouldve been a better first single. It would've been a good B-side, but it was a horrible lead single choice. Honestly, this song did more to cost U2 any post-2008 chart success than any free album did tbh. It would've been better as a run-of-the-mill album track or as the song to mark the day before deployment in a story of heading off to war that could've gone with NLOTH, but none of that happened. Honestly, Magnificent or this song (not on the album either, par for the course) would've been great lead single choices:

Unpopular opinion: I don't like The Smiths singles artworks. Soooo boring.
