I find it so interesting that "Stop the Clocks" was used for so much in the last years of Oasis...yet the song itself didn't come out until Noel's first solo album in 2011, two years after the band had broken up and three years after the release of DOYS. It's been beaten to death on here, but I wish they had done that in full with Liam. DOYS with Record Machine and Stop the Clocks as the final tracks would've been a hell of a way for the band to have gone out. I think that would've legitimately made DOYS their best album since Morning Glory too. I remember reading an album preview, probably the NME that had Stop The Clocks on the tracklist of DBTT. I'd be interested to hear that version. I think Edith Bowman talked about it on the radio at the time as she and/or Colin Murray did the band's interviews at the time. I'm not sure who sang that version. Someone must have it somewhere.

I agree. Stay Young is the song for what everyone hyped BHN up to be but there are other songs on BHN that could qualify as the song that the band made BHN for. It would've been a better inclusion than Magic Pie, but it's not at the same level as a D'You Know What I Mean, a Don't Go Away, or an All Around the World. Still a good tune though. I think the outro is what makes it feel soooo long, and that phaser effect gives it the Disney feeling. I'm halfway to being a Magic Pie apologist. I think there is a really strong track in there, but it needs a lot of changes. To put them in a list: - Call it "Live the Long Goodbye". Great title, whereas Magic Pie almost hurts to type. - Have Liam sing it. Noel sounds fucking awful. - Have the first minute sound more like it does live. That drum loop with the keyboards sounds almost trip-hop, bring out that side of the track. I also love that you can still hear the keyboards/bass during the verses even when the guitars come in during the live versions. Annoys me no end that it's not the case on the album. Again, there's a cool sound going on there somewhere. - Change the chorus lyrics. Don't know what to, but it couldn't possibly be worse than "You see me, I got my magic pie". "You see me, I got my mind inside" also makes no sense, but at least it's not faintly embarrassing. I do genuinely think the melody would sound good with Liam and Noel harmonising for it. ALSO make Liam sing the last chorus the way Noel does at Earl's Court. That big, shout-y one, it sounds fantastic. - This is more just stuff I could hear in my head, but I could definitely picture some background "ooohhh"'s going on during the second bridge (I'll have my wayyyy... ooohhh.. in my own time...). I don't mean like a U2 oh-oh-oh thing, I mean like atmospheric Ennio Morricone female backing singer thing. And this is one that a lot of people would hate, but I can also hear a big sexy brass section coming in on the third verses (THERE ARE BUT A THOUSAND DAYYYSSS...) and then returning for the last choruses. I know a lot of people hate brass sections, though, so we can negotiate there. But if you did all that, I'd take it over Stay Young any day of the week. In some parallel universe, Live the Long Goodbye is an epic of a tune. Even in this one, I do think the verses of Magic Pie are some of the best Noel ever wrote. Call it 'Magpie' and a lot fewer people would have an issue with it.

I would love to hear that version of Stop The Clocks, the 7-8 minute version of Record Machine and For One So Young too. And, I wonder if these songs will be put out there legally or bootlegged one day as it would be a shame if they're not.

Noel said a year or two ago about the rights coming up on oasis music and how he'd be selling them soon as (which is believable, man loves the dough)think at the time he said it was five years, so maybe 2024ish, if we get to hear things from the vaults surely this would be how? Anyone know anything more about the rights?

Oasis are one of the most accessible bands. And one of the most addicting that you can listen to and come back to. For a lot of 2020, I didn't listen to much Oasis. Then I re-listened to the whole discography in December and I think I find myself playing an Oasis song on my guitar almost every time I pick it up.

The 90s didn’t make Oasis.
Oasis made the 90s.

Underneath the sky is one sexy tune I absolutely love Underneath The Sky and always have. It's just a top and great tune and certainly one of Oasis's best ever b.sides.

I've been listening to a lot of Oasis live bootlegs just lately and I've really enjoyed them all. What a great live band they are.

Love this version. Drums sound great, tasty bit of bass, and a lot of people don't enjoy it but I love how yelp-y Liam's voice gets in the chorus. I think this and Better (Man!!) could have done with being sang a bit higher on record. Also great to be able to hear Noel's faaaa-aaaa-aaaa-aaaame thing towards the end. Whack a few more guitar layers and the wild pianos from the DOYS live version into this and you'd have a PROPER banger.

Watched the City of Manchester Stadium 2005 gig for first time in years recently. I’d forgotten how ropey Liam’s vocals were.
It’s not all bad - Lyla and Turn Up the Sun are pretty great - but f*ck me, the lows are low. Songbird in particular is horrendous. Painful to watch.
Great memories of the gig overall but I’d take LG’s 2017 onwards vocal to this any day

I actually like the City Of Manchester Manchester Stadium gig from 2005. Ok, Liam's vocals weren't as good back then as what they are now but I really don't think that they're that bad in that Manchester gig.

Saw Oasis twice in Manchester, never lived up to the hype. Maybe thats my fault for assuming Manchester would be biblical experience that couldn't be replicated elsewhere. One of the reasons I never bothered with the Stone Roses in Manchester later on.
The Etihad gig was a good show but from memory didn't take off like others. Might have been that they were rushing to get to the end because of the barrier.

RNRS is a good example.

At least we got a gig released with the Lord Don't Slow Me Down dvd even though it was released as an extra dvd on the deluxe version which to me is better than nothing at all.

I've had yet another email today from Oasis's management team about the 25th anniversary of the Knebworth gigs which is exactly the same as what they sent the other day. Honestly are they really that eager to keep on bothering fans about it nearly every day.

Found out info about the performance maybe a month later in either a NME, Q or Melody Maker magazine in Barnes & Noble. Pre Internet kiddos. Didn’t hear any music from the show until maybe 1999 when napster broke loose.

Listened to Mustique Demos yesterday. Honestly sayin', drums on most of the demos (DYKWIM, My Sister Lover, IHITIK, TGITDS, BHN, The Fame) are much better than on final versions. Especially on DYKWIM - I'd describe it as an 'anger through tears' and that's more atmospheric to actual lyrics. Or maybe studio drums were just very low on actual release? My Sister Lover and TGITDS demos sound very sexy and... shameless? Very interesting feeling, never felt that before - like I was listening to smth pervert The Fame demo sounds more alive than studio for me Overall Mustique Demos in 2021 is an interesting experience. But I think I caught something important while comparing to studio's ones - BHN songs are very similar in instrumentals. It's like you're listening to the same riff over and over again. I hardly made a difference between MBM, IHITIN, IGBM!!! and most of B-sides. The length is also a thing. I didn't feel that riff repeating over and over again while listening to other albums. I was just... tired! Tired after listening! I think even with Stay Young over Magic Pie or The Fame over IGBM!!! the album couldn't be saved. Very similar songs. Very Oasis-ish.
