I relistened to some songs on Familiar to Millions album and now I have a stupid question about Wonderwall live at Wembley. Liam sang the whole song on the record but iirc the crowd sang part of chorus in the video. Iirc Liam even stepped away from mic. So how?

They took the audio from the Bolton gig a few weeks earlier I think.

So the Oasis team are planning something special for the Knebworth anniversary and they want to hear from fans who were at the gigs. This is what I've just read on Stop Crying Your Heart Out, what could this be? We know that we're getting a book or is this fan stuff going to be part of it? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Fade In/Out or Stay Young? All vote now. Think Stay Young is the better song but I love Fade In/Out in the context of the album, it's kinda different from what Oasis were used to

Fade In/Out or Stay Young? All vote now. Stay young would be any other band's top 3 songs. Incredible pop song, the version at the GMEX is beyond amazing, Liam's vocals, Noel's guitar, the melody, the words, that third chorus when Noel's backing vocals come in etc. One of my favourite songs ever.

I'm a bit torn. Stay Young has the stronger overall structure with the verses, bridge, chorus, and solo all hitting a decent level of quality. Fade In/Out has so much more swagger and vibe to it, though, and it's so different from anything else they ever did. But it just feels like it's one more good idea away from being complete. Some kind of bridge or chant or sing-a-long thing in the second half, just to add another melody to the mix and stop it feeling like the same thin song people played twice but with different arrangements (a la Arcade Fire's Infinite Content).
Today I'm going with Fade In/Out. Better lyrics, more swagger, better sound. Stay Young can come across a bit Disney.

Kourtney Kardashian listening to Champagne Supernova in her IG stories may be something I didn't expect to see

Just had "Whatever" on repeat today. What a fuckin' tune. Everything about it is great: the melodies, the structure, and those strings ! The ending always gets me, Noel's lead mixed with the gorgeous string arrangements. Also, interesting what Noel says at the end of this video.

Stay Young is the song for what everyone hyped BHN up to be but there are other songs on BHN that could qualify as the song that the band made BHN for. It would've been a better inclusion than Magic Pie, but it's not at the same level as a D'You Know What I Mean, a Don't Go Away, or an All Around the World. Still a good tune though. I think the outro is what makes it feel soooo long, and that phaser effect gives it the Disney feeling.

I think the outro is what makes it feel soooo long, and that phaser effect gives it the Disney feeling. I'm halfway to being a Magic Pie apologist. I think there is a really strong track in there, but it needs a lot of changes. To put them in a list: - Call it "Live the Long Goodbye". Great title, whereas Magic Pie almost hurts to type. - Have Liam sing it. Noel sounds fucking awful. - Have the first minute sound more like it does live. That drum loop with the keyboards sounds almost trip-hop, bring out that side of the track. I also love that you can still hear the keyboards/bass during the verses even when the guitars come in during the live versions. Annoys me no end that it's not the case on the album. Again, there's a cool sound going on there somewhere. - Change the chorus lyrics. Don't know what to, but it couldn't possibly be worse than "You see me, I got my magic pie". "You see me, I got my mind inside" also makes no sense, but at least it's not faintly embarrassing. I do genuinely think the melody would sound good with Liam and Noel harmonising for it. ALSO make Liam sing the last chorus the way Noel does at Earl's Court. That big, shout-y one, it sounds fantastic. - This is more just stuff I could hear in my head, but I could definitely picture some background "ooohhh"'s going on during the second bridge (I'll have my wayyyy... ooohhh.. in my own time...). I don't mean like a U2 oh-oh-oh thing, I mean like atmospheric Ennio Morricone female backing singer thing. And this is one that a lot of people would hate, but I can also hear a big sexy brass section coming in on the third verses (THERE ARE BUT A THOUSAND DAYYYSSS...) and then returning for the last choruses. I know a lot of people hate brass sections, though, so we can negotiate there. But if you did all that, I'd take it over Stay Young any day of the week. In some parallel universe, Live the Long Goodbye is an epic of a tune. Even in this one, I do think the verses of Magic Pie are some of the best Noel ever wrote.

Never really been as big on Stay Young as others so I'd pick Fade In/Out but it should've been on the album regardless obviously.

I see Stay Young as like a Whatever/Bonehead's Bank Holiday. Doesn't fit in the context of BHN where a lot of the songs are about being lost in the middle of your life so we got It's Gettin' Better (Man!!) instead.

The thing with him is he's not great at anything, but when you hear him it's unmistakeably him Falling down on the job a bit are you, Noel Gallagher Prophet? Actually, I think he was a truly great assimilator which is 9/10 of pop culture past the Mid Century. That ability to pull bits and bobs from others who came before and from stuff going on in your world and then make it thoroughly your own (that part where you always know it’s unmistakably him... or unmistakably them as it were, no pun intended) is its own form of greatness, although very much not the most obvious or sustainable form.

Well, he is great with melodies, and structures, and knows the pop tricks inside out, I'll give him it that

I find it so interesting that "Stop the Clocks" was used for so much in the last years of Oasis...yet the song itself didn't come out until Noel's first solo album in 2011, two years after the band had broken up and three years after the release of DOYS. It's been beaten to death on here, but I wish they had done that in full with Liam. DOYS with Record Machine and Stop the Clocks as the final tracks would've been a hell of a way for the band to have gone out. I think that would've legitimately made DOYS their best album since Morning Glory too.
