What are the most melancholic chorus melodies Noel has ever wrote ? I think "Wonderwall" and "Half The World Away" are up there. Talk Tonight

^ Afraid not, the album was already done and dusted by the time the lawsuit happened and early promo versions of Morning Glory has the Noel sung Step Out on it. It was between Some Might Say and Cast No Shadow if memory serves me correctly So one of Cast No Shadow or Some Might Say was going to be dropped for Step Out? Madness, I like Step Out but nowhere near the level of those two. So does that mean Some Might Say was only intended as a stand alone single/EP?

Random question. Why is it called Gas Panic and not just panic?

Half the World Away is ALSO everything. Two of the best songs ever. Oasis 93-98, the best there ever was. EDIT: Half the World Away might be my favourite Oasis song. It's all there. All the pain and optimism of it. Noel's little sliding "I don't feeeeeel dooooo-oooo-oooo-ooo-wwwnnn" almost made me tear up crying, there. That's it, that's what it's all about. I don't feel down. About two weeks ago there was this day where I just really connected with the studio version of this one. The way he sings the word "old" in "my body is young but my mind is very old" just kinda got to me. The electric piano with the guitar both sound great in this one. The gloomy lyrics are just spot on. What a song. Glad to read so much love for it, one of my favourite Oasis tunes as well Noel just has a way of putting even a glimpse of light into the saddest of songs, this is heartfelt, there's pain in it, and yet it's still somehow uplifting, the lyrics are as deep, honest and sincere as Noel will ever get (I mean, it was before fame, he was a nobody with a positive attitude who had been living through some serious shit, all those emotions are channeled in here), all on top of a brilliant melody

Random question. Why is it called Gas Panic and not just panic? It’s named after a club in Tokyo

No. It was going to be placed in the running order between those two tracks. None of them were being punted off.

The fact that The Turning was never a single shows how little they cared towards the end.

Noel has always (correctly) been called the Wisest Man in Rock.
But Liam is overlooked here - Easily the Coolest Man in Rock. Innit.

That is a hill I’ll die on. Scandalous that it wasn't. Bag It Up, too. Too much pandering to Gem and Andy in playing their tunes (let alone putting their guff on the album) live.

Not sure they played any Andy tunes in 2008-2009. Opening their gigs in 2005 with “Turn Up The Sun” was tremendous.

Is Oasis a "lad band"? Although there's as much female fans as male fans, I sometimes wonder we, female fans are overshadowed by male fans. and no, Slide Away isn't the only one song we love. ("This one is for ladies" - Liam).

("This one is for ladies" - Liam). I have met many female Oasis fans. Obviously I have met far more male Oasis fans, but the female ones are out there. However, as there is a far bigger sample size, I there are many more insufferable vaginas who love Oasis and are also male. I have never met a female Oasis fan who is an insufferable vagina.

The demographic is definitely changing. When I saw Oasis in 2002 at Finsbury it really was your stereotypical 30 something, bucket hat wearing, loud mouth, lager lout for the majority. However seeing Liam at the same venue 16 years later was totally different. Yes you saw pockets of those people (albeit now in their 40’s) but the amount of youngsters male and female was incredible. Honestly I don’t think a lot of them were even born was SOTSOG came out let alone Definitely Maybe!

I just finished listening to SOTSOG with high volume (I'm sure my neighbours aren't happy), I always loved it but it made me remember what a magnificient album it is. It's unbelievable how underrated is Roll It Over, I had a very hard and emotional day due to some family issues and that song was just what I needed.

Listened to It's Good to Be Free just now for the first time in a little bit and man, that guitar solo at the end is strong; like one of the best on an Oasis song. It carries that brooding nature with intensity and strength. Really it's a good song overall, shame it wasn't on Definitely Maybe.

The album version of To Be Where There's Life is mega. A proper fuck-off tune, and Liam rips it up with his vocals too. Genuinely one of my very favourite post-2000 Oasis songs.

Granted I'm in the states and not as many oasis fans to being with, but still I don't know any other girls who love the band, not even back in 2005 when I 'discovered' them. I don't even like Slide Away that much, always gravitated to the b-sides

There were at least four other women in the first two rows on the first show of the WBTM cycle here. Met another as we were waiting around afterwards and she had brought her daughter with her.
Have met too many online over the years to think they're just a "lads" band.
