Acquiesce sounds almost dancey with Tony on drums. Can’t tell I like it or not

Was this the first night or 2nd night, July 2nd or 3rd? Also, was only one of the nights filmed? Can't seem to find other night.

20 years ago right now I was at Wembley Stadium waiting for the Familiar Too Millions gig to start.
"Time Flies".

Anybody else gonna watch Wembley 2000 on its twentieth anniversary coming up? Think I will; let's not forget the 20th anniversary of the second night at Wembley as well, this one's worth celebrating as well!

Tony McCarroll was the only drummer that played "Columbia" the right way. Hmm, I can't even agree to disagree I find the album version in its instrumental entirety to be great as it is, obviously, but the live b-side from the 10th anniversary gig at the Barrowlands with Alan just goes through the roof. Listen to Alan's hi-hat in the intro. It's massive. Might just be the recording but the groove is irresistible.

I think the biggest proof that Oasis still appeals to the youth is the huge success of "Wonderwall" and "Don't Look Back In Anger" on streaming. The big majority of people on streaming services are people that weren't born when WTSMG was released. When you think about it, the numbers Oasis got on these streaming apps are quite impressive.

Always have enjoyed Alan's work at the beginning. Barrowlands 2001 forever.

If I was given the stems for D'You Know What I Mean?, I don't think I'd ever leave my bedroom again.

Edit: speaking as someone who hasn't really listened to that many of their bootlegs

Supersonic is everything. Those mad, brilliant lyrics. Liam's voice. The guitars. The chorus. Never bettered. Never.

Half the World Away is ALSO everything. Two of the best songs ever. Oasis 93-98, the best there ever was.
EDIT: Half the World Away might be my favourite Oasis song. It's all there. All the pain and optimism of it. Noel's little sliding "I don't feeeeeel dooooo-oooo-oooo-ooo-wwwnnn" almost made me tear up crying, there. That's it, that's what it's all about. I don't feel down.

WW and DLBIA I already knew obviously and thought good tunes but then i listened to Supersonic for the 1st time and thought wow. Had it on repeat for days and days.

About two weeks ago there was this day where I just really connected with the studio version of this one. The way he sings the word "old" in "my body is young but my mind is very old" just kinda got to me. The electric piano with the guitar both sound great in this one. The gloomy lyrics are just spot on. What a song.

I'm alive when you wa-ALK that way what a voice.. but what a singer!!! Noel's vocals are irritating Noel’s voice is perfect for some songs (Half The World Away, Talk Tonight, etc), but not using Liam as lead vocalist on many Oasis songs was often tantamount to a football manager leaving the star striker on the bench for no good reason. Total madness in this case.

How much do we know about the decision to take Step Out off the album? My understanding is that Stevie Wonder's people wanted a share of the royalties and that's why the track was relegated to B-side status - ironic when you consider that the song ended up as a B-side to the band's second (?) best-selling single. Is it possible that the lawyers got in touch before Liam's vocal was finished, and Noel decided to use his own guide vocal instead of wasting more time & money in the studio polishing the song? Liam's performance certainly makes Noel's sound like a guide vocal.

I will always remember that day when my music teacher at the university thought I was hitting the piano too hard playing "Slide Away" and said "It's Oasis not Jimi Hendrix, it's supposed to be played softly". I was like WTF

Mmh,I don't think they messed up with most of the choices, they did with this one tho The other one I can think about is Force Of Nature, but that would still be a shit song anyway

Stevie Wonder kicked up a stink about Step Out sounding too much like his tune.
Had it ben given the thumbs up to be on the album, and not confined to being a B side, Liam would have sung on it.

^ Afraid not, the album was already done and dusted by the time the lawsuit happened and early promo versions of Morning Glory has the Noel sung Step Out on it. It was between Some Might Say and Cast No Shadow if memory serves me correctly

What are the most melancholic chorus melodies Noel has ever wrote ? I think "Wonderwall" and "Half The World Away" are up there.
