As a fan myself, I quite enjoyed it and it seemed like others did too. The consensus was that the song showed that they're going in a better direction than what was indicated with LID and that it was one of their best in recent years, possibly since Bones. |

first time since 97 I listen to Be Here Now without Magic Pie. Stay Young is so much better
but love it as DYWIM's b-side though. 2nd track we heard back then. was so fucking amazing
I think My Sister Lover could have been a great track 3, but the chorus is kinda shit

SOTSOG could have been such a classic with a clearer mindset behind the band regarding decisions in terms of track list and such. The tunes were fully there.
Let's All Make Believe (Little James on a record and this not), Full On, Carry Us All (SMC made the cut over this, why the fuck i don't know), One Way Road were all left out of the record.

I think the production of the record is great, with Stent elevating it above all over 2000's Oasis albums pretty much single-handedly, but looking back I think Noel was right that his magic melodic ability hadn't quite returned to him yet. If they had waited a little longer, and came back ready to incorporate songs like The Hindu Times, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, and Little by Little into the darker sound, Oasis would have launched a much better second half of their career. |

Little by Little would've been fine as is and The Hindu Times would've been good with the demo version (and Liam vocals), but SCYHO would've been a stunner in a dark but still classic, life-affirming upbeat Oasis style, especially if it had come after Gas Panic! and Where Did it All Go Wrong? on an alternate SOTSOG. A new take on the Oasis style... Dark but still upbeat and looking for the light at the end of the tunnel. |
