I know the song is hated because it's too long, and the chorus is a bit shite.
But, it's not like the song has no redeeming qualities.
I really do love the verses of the song, some of the lines are great.
And the guitar solo of the song, and the melody are mint too.
I think the song really should've and could've been great.

Dull as all fuck. It's the album's Shakermaker. Can only tolerate both in strict moderation.

Good song, fills the gap on MG very well, and really doesn't take anything away from the album, nor does it give it anything. It's also quite catchy, too.

When you listen to this song in the right moment, and you'll know when - it just hits you. It's my least favorite song on my favorite album but I still love it to a degree. WTSMG wouldn't feel the same without. Awesome Liam vocal, great wall of guitar, and one of the most underrated verse melodies around.
Would love to hear Noel do a melancholy version of it nowadays.

Dull as all fuck. It's the album's Shakermaker. Can only tolerate both in strict moderation. I can say the same for your dull posts! Hey Now! is one of my favorite tracks on the album. Liam's vocals are incredible and the driving riff is phenomenal along with Noel's great lyrics. I love the repeat but I can see it as a easy criticism, otherwise I don't know what is so dull about it. It doesn't feel empty in aspiration to me like Roll With It.

It's my least favourite on my favourite album as well, and I still really like it, so that says a lot about that album really. I do think it's a bit too long though. You think it's finished but ho hey; here's another verse!

It's a very good song that lives in the shadow of the rest of Morning Glory. Can be a bit too long though, that's true.

Yeah, I agree, it's a bit too long. But I must say I really like it. Very underrated.

And time as it stands Won't be held in my hands Or living inside of my skin And as it fell from the sky I asked myself why Can I never let anyone in?
And there are other great lines on it. One of the best Noel's lyrics of that period, underrated along Underneath The Sky (who is better tha Hey Now! though)

Hey Now isn't a bad song by any measure.
Melodically, it's incredibly underrated and can surprise you very easily when you return to listen after not having heard it for a while.
Lyrically, the verses are mostly very impressive - some of the best lines on that album are in this song. Of course, this is balanced out by the lacklustre lyrics of the chorus to produce a song that's neither great nor awful. At times, it gives me the impression that it would have fit in with Be Here Now.
Also, it somehow makes me think of gravy.

So good.
Kept repeating both verses constantly, honestly some of the best lines Noel wrote during that period.
The verses flow brilliantly.

I know the song is hated because it's too long, and the chorus is a bit shite. Also it had to follow on from Don't Look Back in Anger, Wonderwall, and (to a lesser extent) Roll With It. It's the same problem Shakermaker had being sandwiched in between Rock 'n' Roll Star and Live Forever. That empty space in the tracklist had to be filled with something. I think Noel could've done a lot worse than Hey Now!. It's a gem.

The reason why I nowadays tend to put WTSMG above DM. Should have either been a b-side or put higher up in the tracklisting. The outro to Rock 'n' Roll Star is a bit too long, and it is then followed by a song that is... a bit too long. Tbh it doesn't fit that well thematically or soundwise either. I would have liked the opening excitement and intensity of "RNR" to be followed by more of the same(Up In The Sky would have fitted like a GLOVE), and then it fits perfectly to have more of a "ballady" song(in this case Live Forever) as track 3, to keep things varied. After all it's been the case on most of their other albums. Wonderwall, Magic Pie, Who Feels Love?. When ai think about it this may be the case for most albums with a well thought-out tracklisting.

I couldn't disagree more with most of what has been said in this thread.
It's a lack luster song that overstays it's welcome. It has the same problem that a lot of Be Here Now has actually. If the song was a minute and a half (or maybe two) shorter then okay, but as it is... nah.
It reminds me of Keep The Dream Alive in many ways as well. Needlessly carries on.

Good track, I might do an edit of it soon and download that into my library.
However, with tracks like Acquiesce and The Masterplan about, this should clearly have been a b-side for the band at that point.

It's a lack luster song that overstays it's welcome. You could say it's "an uninvited guest who stays 'till the end"?
