Also it had to follow on from Don't Look Back in Anger, Wonderwall, and (to a lesser extent) Roll With It. It's the same problem Shakermaker had being sandwiched in between Rock 'n' Roll Star and Live Forever. That empty space in the tracklist had to be filled with something. I think Noel could've done a lot worse than Hey Now!. It's a gem. I wouldn't rate Shakermaker as highly as Hey Now, but they definitely fall in similar places on the respective albums they're on.

It's decent enough but it's mad it made it over some of the songs that were used as Bsides.

One of my favourite on Morning Glory. I do not get the hate at all, lyrics are beautiful and musically it's up there with some of Oasis' best songs for me. I ALWAYS go back to it

Yeah, just went back and re-listened and it is a bit of a drag. Acquiesce or Underneath the Sky* would have better at track five.
*With The Masterplan being saved for Be Here Now, obviously.

Hey Now’s chorus is perhaps the most boring piece of music Oasis created in their 18 year career. Can’t stand it.

"I'm singing this song for you and your mum"; "but it just don't matter now"; "cos' god gimme soul"; "You're my lover !", etc I could go on for 20 minutes about worse Oasis choruses than Hey Now. Let's not even talk about BE, NGHFB or Liam solo !

I think the chorus of Little by Little could have sounded epic, as could the more ambient verses, if they produced in the style of SOTSOG. What should have been eerie verses became lifeless ones, what should have been an aggressive chorus became a dad-rock one.

I like LBL and can see & enjoy it for what it is, but that song being produced in a similar style as Roll it Over would've been massive. RIO's verses have a degree of tension and eeriness to them that makes the chorus really shine (plus Liam's vocals, enough said). Yeah, just went back and re-listened and it is a bit of a drag. Acquiesce or Underneath the Sky* would have better at track five. *With The Masterplan being saved for Be Here Now, obviously. Continuing hypothetical ideas could you just imagine if Be Here Now would've closed with All Around the World, a shortened It's Getting Better (Man!!), The Masterplan, and then the AATW Reprise? That would've been an even more epic close to '90s Oasis.

I stick The Masterplan in Magic Pie's place on my Be Here Now, under the logic of replacing a Noel-sung song with another one, and having a nice set of singles in the first leg of the album that would have got the legions of casuals hearing the album more excited, but it would undoubtedly have worked well at the end as well.

I love it, and as much as I agree with people saying Underneath the Sky is better I think the album needs a slow song like Hey Now. I think I mentioned before in this forum but this song always makes me think of the day after a party, the hangover, cleaning up the mess in the house and waking up people sleeping on your couch.
