Only one choice for best home kit: My favourite away kit: Northsound Radio? Jeez, now there's a time when all clubs small and large were usually sponsored by local companies.

Out away top was launched today, another generic Nike effort. I saw Scott Fraser was one of the players promoting it. Hope that means he'll be part of the first team squad as he was great in his loan spell with us last season. Not sure he's quite at Premiership level just yet but given time he could be a reasonable replacement for Armstrong. Aye I've got high hopes for Fraser, looks a tidy wee player.

Ooft United away first day of the season, tasty. Magic! Hopefully not a repeat of last seasons opener... May end up getting moved to the Sunday if we make it through in Europe again.

Airdrie's new crest. It looks like they've kept most of the original design but obviously without using a shield. What do you think of it, kingcrawler?

Yeah it's alright, as you say not too different to the last one. I still don't understand why we had to change it in the first place but glad it's sorted now. The general reaction seems to be pretty positive anyway.

Why only Airdrie had to change it I've no idea. It sounds like somebody who works there is in need of a good ride.

Like you say, not sure why it was only ourselves that had to change as numerous other clubs have similar problems with their badges. Seems a bit like they just make the rules up as they go along.

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02tpvycHere's an interesting documentary on the sports writer Hugh McIllvanney, with a section regarding Stein, Shankly and Busby and gives a general insight into the background of old Scottish football managers, particularly emphasising their working class roots. Well worth listening to and gives a broad cultural portrait of Scottish football from bygone years in general.

I've only ever read his work, never heard him speak once! It's amazing how much legendary sporting moments he's reported on - a dream job!

European draws for the Scottish teams:
Inverness Caledonian Thistle v FC Astra (Romania)
Aberdeen or KF Shkendijia (Macedonia) v HNK Rijeka (Croatia)
St Johnstone or Alashkert FC (Armenia) v Crvena Zvezda (Serbia) or Kairat Almaty (Kazakhstan) We should hopefully be able to get through the first round easily enough. This Croatian mob seem to be pretty handy though, beat Standard Liege and Feyenoord last year and drew with Sevilla. Also made the group stages the last two years. Tough draw but we'd carry their seeding through to the third round if we won so a great incentive.

Danny Wilson signed, 3 year deal.
Rumours going around Stevie May could sign from Sheffield Wednesday on loan this week with a view to permanent deal at the end of the season.
I like the fact Mark Warbuton is looking at younger players and that the one older guy we've been linked with was Derby's captain in the English championship last season so possibly a decent bit of experience to bring them on rather than Lee McCulloch!

May would be a great signing, thon Wilson is rank rotten though. Boy in my work is a big Jambo and hates him. We had Eustace on loan when he was 18, season 98/99! He was a really good player and very popular with fans. 36 now though and injury prone as anything.
