Well done to Inverness. They can consider themselves slightly fortunate given how dominant Falkirk were in the 2nd half but their extra bit of quality came through in the end. Was hoping it would go to extra time as I really enjoyed that 2nd half.

Congrats Inverness! Unlucky Falkirk, done well in the second half.
Must say, I have a lot of time for both Peter Houston and John Hughes, proper football men and both sets of fans were a credit to their clubs today.

Well done to the 6-fingered, sister shaggers.
Smert defending all round from Falkirk for that winning goal.

First of all, congratulations to Inverness. The first half they were completely dominant and deserved their lead at the break. We never really started playing until the second half. The introduction of Bia-bi made a huge impact as he was a constant thorn in Caley's side. The red card looked to be pretty concrete and obviously gave our support a huge lift. When the goal went in, I genuinely thought we were going to win the cup, given our dominance since the interval. Perhaps it was a little naïve to keep pressing at the level which we did, rather than settling for extra time, as Caley would not have survived the extra 30 minutes. The winner was terrible defending from McCracken and an awful save for MacDonald, which came completely against the run of play.
I have never felt as flat after a game as I did today. Credit to Caley for defending well after they went 2-1 up but it was incredibly harsh to lose the cup in the way we did.

Felt really bad for Falkirk having watched Langfield make that exact same fuck up numerous times in the past. Deja Vu. Congratulations to Caley though, hopefully Shinnie will be raising the trophy again in 12 months to complete the treble

That game also cemented a personal milestone for me. That's the first time I've been to every single game (league and cups) in a season. I'm quite proud of that.

Off topic, but, at two different times today I saw two people wearing kilts, never seen that before in central Ohio.
It's a Scottish related thread, so...
God bless.

I don't remember...I've been on Quaaludes all day. Hell, they could've just been manly looking females, I don't know. God bless.

Just got in, absolutely buzzing! I really really thought we had lost it - that was too close for my own health, my heart is almost destroyed and I have no fingers left! I really turned into the biggest pessimist on the second half, and when Tremarco was sent off, I knew it was only a matter of time. Still can't believe how we got that second goal - if ever there was an unexpected goal given our second half performance. Condolences to @wadfalkirk, it was a fantastic display from your lot in the second half, and a victory would have been entirely justified. A little bit less luck and we would have lost it I'm sure as it was all one way traffic. Play like that and a return to the Premiership is a certainty.

Congratulations - I'm very envious of you tonight. I suppose we had our fair share of luck in the semi final but it still hurts a lot. The last 10 minutes of the game aside, the occasion was fantastic. The atmosphere beforehand with all the fans milling about together was really something special. Enjoy your night! These days don't happen very often. On a side note, it was great to see the fans turn out for both sides. Certainly the biggest Falkirk support I've ever been a part of and the biggest Caley support I've ever seen. Hopefully a few of them will start to turn up on a more regular basis.

Certainly the biggest Falkirk support I've ever been a part of and the biggest Caley support I've ever seen. Hopefully a few of them will start to turn up on a more regular basis. You are absolutely spot on and the communal atmosphere was the best thing about it, I was talking to a married couple from Falkirk in the pub (one outside Hampden, it's usually full before gigs too) after the match (which was packed with fans from both sides) and there wasn't any hint of gloating or bitterness. It's what I've come to realise with Scottish football is that the tribalism that exists between almost every club in the Premier League down south is almost non-existent. The insane hatred between (some) Celtic and Rangers fans is actually at odds with the Scottish game in general which I find much more pleasant than down in England. It may not be flashy or glitzy like the Premier League, but Scottish football is still closer to the heart of what football is about than most places in the world. As for the attendance, surely they will pick up - I went to a game with my aunt back in 1998 when I was wee and it was almost bare. But one thing I must say is that, because Caley are a relatively new club compared to most clubs in Scotland (majority of them well over 100 years old), I don't think football is quite as entrenched in the community in Inverness as it is in south of the city. Many believe it is because we're a Highland club and, as you know, the population is much much more sparse and it takes much longer to get there as opposed to the majority of clubs in he he Scottish leagues. That's true as well, but I think the most honest answer is that clubs south of Inverness and their community's attitude to football is much more obsessed with the sport because of their clubs direct links with the past. Clubs like Falkirk etc all have deep connections with the community, where generations upon generations pass down their support. Also, football was a game created for the working classes, and the communitarian, industrial nature of many Scottish towns and cities gave birth to these clubs. In all honesty, Inverness was never an industrial town/city, with history focusing more on the fact it was a chief stronghold for many warring factions down the years! So it's never really been an ideal place for a footballing culture to thrive simply because it doesn't have the deep working class roots that most football clubs were created out of. What I find striking is that I see a lot of my generation really really passionate about the club - perhaps more so than older supporters, but maybe that's youthful energy! Or maybe not, as my generation is the first to really grow up with Inverness Caledonian Thistle, so it is a club that has always been a part of us younger folk, it is part of nostalgia for me and the club is more deeply rooted in our conscience. So who knows, perhaps in 20 years time we will see the attendances really booming as the next generation grow up with the club. Days like today are great for the club and goes a long way to creating a thriving support. EDIT: Apologies for the long ramble!

What a team. I love Scottish football.
Remember when Stuart McCall was going to take Rangers up? I know the squad is awful but he's a hardly done a good job here. Wouldn't be surprised if he's not kept on. Even Coisty had a better points per game record in the league.

Good to see the rangers keeping to their word that they'd be boycotting SPFL grounds next season.

Fantastic stuff. Big John Sutton's penalty and Mohsni at the end just round it off perfectly.

If Hibs had any guts about them, they would've done Sevco. Joke of a team.
