Here it is! Unlisted YouTube video. I hope that's in keeping with the rules. Many thanks to you and Jim for sharing this!! Added this to the CHASING YESTERDAY CD-R my wife wanted for her car and realised I only just had room. That demo pushes the disc right up to it's 79 minute limit - the album, the demo, the two remixes, the three instrumental mixes and DO THE DAMAGE. Decent amount of new material so far - especially with the bonus CD and the exclusive Japanese tracks to go.

Really, really great. Got such an early 90s Sad Song almost vibe to it. Great song.

This has a very similar feel to the High Flying Birds demos. I wouldn't be shocked if it was recorded around the same time. Thanks everybody for working together to post this. Much appreciated.

I'm really glad to have heard it, and I really thought I was gonna like it better. But I actually like the album version better. This one seems empty to me. Like there's something missing.

It's actually very likely, I suppose. Most of the Noel G. solo demos that were either officially released (on 'Faster Than The Speed Of Magic') or unofficially leaked out (the 4 tracks from the '2010 Demos' CD that joakim shared) had been recorded prior to the split. And since Noel has recently even mentioned that parts of The Dying Of The Light were written whilst Oasis were still intact and that it had almost been included on the debut, I'd place this demo in the same timeframe as some of the acoustic demos on '...The Speed Of Magic.' This is pure speculation of course, but yeah, I'd definitely say it dates back to at least 2009 or 2010.

Like I said a few hours ago, I think it sounds very similar to the version of the making of NGHFB. Here at 1:16 and 5.24.

Makes you wonder what else from that time ended up on this album. We know Mighty I was actually supposed to be on HFB, but could it be there was more?

Noel is prone to release songs, or even fragments of tunes, which he wrote much earlier, not only since Lock All The Doors. I think he's often patchworking and putting songs together out of different fragments, his infamous Notebook from 92/93 really proves it. Anyway, except from all three CY bonus tracks and the aforementioned songs I could not say that they'd been written prior to his debut. I've really been trying to keep track of all his press comments regarding recording sessions during the last five years (and before). Hope to get it together as some kind of guide anytime soon.

Well almost all, if not all of HFB was written back in Oasis. I don't think a lot of this album was written prior to his debut, but maybe around that time. Not back in Oasis I mean. I mean when he was recording HFB.

There's at least written or aural proof (e.g. Noel soundchecking early versions of I'd Pick You Every Time and A Simple Game Of Genius in 2009, among the more popular, finalized ones) for every track that was released in the context of the High Flying Birds debut, that they were written whilst Oasis were still together. Except for Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me and the AA related tracks. Just like Beady Eye's first effort, it basically consisted of Oasis outtakes. But yeah, I agree that most of the songs on CY are "new", he must have done some writing since the split after all, it's been almost 6 years!!

I can't find that interview. I don't know if he was talking about TDOTL.

Yeah, he kept it off because he thought it was too good, Dying of the Light and Ballad of the Mighty were contenders, though thank god they made it on the second album - I dread to think what Dave Sardy would have done to it with his wicked ways.

I think lyrically Dying of the Light might be one of his very best work. There really isn't a single lyric that throws you off in the entire song. Don't know why on earth that review thought he would have written "stinking on a train bound for Norway"...

Any chance of a youtube upload? eva, mimmihopps, will a picosong.com upload be fine to post? They're unlisted audio tracks. Only those with the link know where it is. I'm not similar to picosong.com, but if you don't mind, we appreciate to upload it on youtube or soundcloud unlisted. Thank you for your cooperation. :)

I feel like it's must of been how he felt at the end of Oasis.

My brother gave the demo a spin (he knows I'm yet to listen to it) and, he's not the biggest Oasis fan but he told me he thought it was 'a great tune, a really really great tune, sounds like a classic'.
