Appalling. Horrific. It's the end of Noel as we knew him and a whole new lease on life for Beady Eye. Thinking about God and going, na na na na na na, might get him some airplay in America but it won't fill the 02 with happy punters in the land of hope and glory. There is no hope here. No glory. Just a fluffer with bad breath and a screenplay she'd like you to look at. Well, come back in 6 months, you'll see that you're mistaken. He's got 6 months to sell out his arena tour. He should be fine.

Thing is: Noel is always Noel, but Noel sometimes is a lot of things. You can't say that it's "the end of Noel as we knew him"... come on! We've got TIOBI and Falling Down and Slide Away and Gas Panic! and Alone On The Rope. There's a cool diversity in those songs. But there's one thing that made they all common: the Noel Gallagher magic. And this magic IS on 'Heat'.
I'm pleased that we've got something slightly different from him. Noel is evolving, but it'll always be Noel -- and that's the main reason for us to be here.

You know what. I'd love be a hater of this song, cause it's easy to dislike it. It's a first single of the album that is coming out in half a year from now, it's nothing ground breaking, probably worse than any song he had written for Oasis. The song's just asking for it. Hate me, if you want, i'm nothing special, i'm just a pop vibe little tune, i don't even have a big chorus, i have nanananas all over it, i'm almost silly, i have Stacey on drums.
But i won't. There something in it that makes me listen to it. Something new, that i haven't heard in Noel's songs yet. And if the new album has more of "this", i'm still in.To me it's a promising tune in the perspective of new album coming out. I fuckin' like it for some reason. It's a driving song, innit ?
Also, if it's the end of Noel as we knew him, than thank fuck for that cause he was getting boring as hell since last 10 years i'd say. The interesting thing is, i posted the song on fb and some people who aren't even Oasis fans, i'd be suprised if they knew who he is, they liked it. So maybe a new chapter for him, not bad right ?

But it would be better for Noel to leave of being Noel sometimes , or in some songs or maybe in some records .
The melodic capacity of the man seems to have reached a peak .

I can already say that Noel's album was #17 yesterday on Itunes in the UK. Which isn't a bad start for his 5 months worth of pre-sale, so the single is already having some affect.
kworb tracks Itunes charts and already has his sale placements in the Itunes charts in other countries.
Album: Chasing Yesterday #16 United Kingdom #24 Argentina #26 Ireland #64 Mexico #67 El Salvador #127 Russia #128 Latvia #148 Belgium #172 Brazil
Not bad for the first 24 hours and barely any radioplay.

I think this song has a fresh sound and strong lyrics. The introduction is particularly top notch - I actually think the nananas work well. The bells are perfect as is that eloquently Noel-esque opening line. I also like that subtle guitar riff that starts in the second verse. You can really hear the individual instruments and sounds on this track - I'm hoping the rest of the record is like this.
All in all I'm really happy with it. I can't say this song is a classic but its made me excited for the album and it has a certain energy that I think was lacking in NGHFB pt 1. Smart choice for a first single.

It's attitudes like you that made us end up with the ultra safe and ultra shit Heathen Chemistry and Gem and Andy's 'cool dad rock' routine songs.

til this crap of a LP blows over. You might not like the song or be a fan of his last lp but to call the rest of the album crap is premature. I havent liked but 3 BE songs from two albums but I'm not going to completely write off the next album before I hear it. I must be the only one who actually likes the na na nas! But I'm wondering how will it work live, probably he'll let the audience do it? I kind of liked them at first but just listened to the song several times on repeat while I was reading through this thread and it started to get on my nerves.

You people have been blinded by desperation. After a year of Beady Eye you are "jonesing" badly for an antidote to that turdburger. You look to Noel to erase the unpleasant memory of Beady Eye but it's always there, lingering. It's a serious stink that needs a serious single to stem that stench. This is not that single. This is what you send to Robbie Williams as a joke, "Hey fatso, please cover this. Love, Noel."

But I'll surely need an antidote if I read a single word more of any of your posts.

But some people just like the fuckin' song and that's it. Now it's you who is trying to prove that they are blinded by desperation, or anything ,but in fact you're the guy who is desperate to prove that people on internet forum are wrong in enjoying the song they've just heard.

I can't stop listening to it. And it gets better each time. I don't want the fucking thing to end. Ever. And I wish that mini-interlude (at 2.38) was a bit longer. sounds to me this part is edited. might be the single version. has it been discussed at all?

I love how some people are completely over analyzing and overdiscussing this song. It's just a catchy song, you either like it or you don't. No meaning, nothing special. Just that

Just that The thread is called thoughts on ITHOTM, I hope you didn't expect people to just come in say like or dislike. It's not overanalyzing we are fans - and even completely shite artists put in hours of work for every few seconds of song you hear. So yes it's catchy, but that doesn't mean there's nothing to discuss.
