An excellent choice by Noel. I'm not sure what my favorite Radiohead is. So hard to choose. It's like picking your favorite child. If pushed I'd lean "Let Down". Looking back 15 years later I wish I quoted it in my high school yearbook. "Don't get sentimental It always ends up drivel..."
Instead I quoted "Magic Pie".

Still waiting for that Thom/Liam convo. As of this second my favourite Radiohead songs:
1. Reckoner / How to Disappear Completely 2. Paranoid Android 3. Let Down 4. Motion Picture Soundtrack 5. Myxomatosis
Ed in that picture looks far too attractive for the rest of them - like putting Katy Perry in Sleaford Mods. Cool to know Noel at least likes some Radiohead, and that he likes Jonny. Now I want an Arabic-flavoured Radiohead album...

A Punch Up At A Wedding 5. Gagging Order 6. 2+2=5 7. The Gloaming 8. I Will (B-side version) 9. Myxomatosis 10. Wolf At The Door

No way better than "In Rainbows" no matter how much we shake up the track listing. That album is a masterpiece and I mean that in the truest sense of the word. I rank it along with the other BIG three albums: The Bends, Ok Computer and Kid A. All masterpieces in modern day music.

Yeah you're probably right - myself I think of a "big three" : In Rainbows 10/10 Kid A 10/10 OK Computer 10/10 and then just below The Bends 9/10

Rumors around RH recording album #9:
"One of my friend who lives in london and is a classical violin player has a session with Radiohead this month!!! And he received a score for The Present Tense!!!!!! with also a demo of the track!!! He refused to give it away but I've heard it. It is very different from what we know. The melody is a kind of weird modular sequence. I think it sounds beautiful but some of you might be disapointed. It was just a demo though From what I remember it starts as some pulsing notes and then evolves with some ambient chords in the background. The melody goes on and is filtered weirdly. Kinda reminded me of James Holden The Inheritors in a way. Hard to describe. Guys, don't react like that. First of all, it sounds nothing like TKOL. And it is just a demo, they will have a string section on it. The modular melody sounds really beautiful to me. It's different from the Lattitude version ok but it has a really powerful arrangement and sound design. Jonny at his best if you want my opinion. "

I'm surprised Radiohead would send out a demo. That is not their way.

How the fuck did Phil lose all that hair?! As someone worrying about hair loss and assuring myself I'm fine because I have naturally thick hair, I'm fucking petrified after seeing this!

Instead I quoted "Magic Pie". As much as I love the Radiohead version. This is the best version of that song.

The Present Tense... there is so much hype about it. I'd rather hear a Jonny's influences album than a Thom's one. Bored with blips.

Reading that whole Stereogum special yesterday reminded of how much I love and admire this band. For some reason I wasn't listening to any Radiohead stuff in the past few years, bar giving the AFP and Thom's solo album a few spins, which didn't really impress me that much.
They had been a constant in my life ever since I got into music, however. Noel actually got me into them, by requesting the video for Fake Plastic Trees on a german tv show back in 1999. I had bought The Bends within a few days, which is still among my favourite records ever.
I tried to list my Top 10 or even to think of a favourite songs. It's pointless. I can relate to so many of their songs, I just randomly remembered listening to Nude for the first time, the acoustic version from a bootleg gig in Tokyo 1997 or 1998, when it was still called Big Ideas. It must have been around 2001 and I don't think I've been more emotionally moved by any record or tune or whatever before and since.
Someone had asked me a few years ago. Who do you like better - Radiohead or Oasis (knowing they were my favourite bands, which seems paradox to most)? And I couldn't give an answer. It's like asking a mother which of her children she likes the most...:-)

I'm not sure what this means for the status of the next Radiohead album but I received an email saying Phil Selway is doing a mini tour this August in America and Canada. We could say oh great, Radiohead are done making their new album OR shit, they are taking another mini break from finishing up LP #9.

I think he's been doing some festivals in Europe over the last couple of months and Johnny's been touring with his orchestra thing so I just assumed they were taking the summer off. Nothing's ever quick with Radiohead though.
