The FA Cup regularly had a sponsor since the 80's or 90's. Littlewoods, AXA and Bud off the top of my head have had their name attached over the years. Nothing new here.

Next you'll get Emirates sponsoring teams' shirts and stadiums in England.

Emirates Stadium is an awful name - they should leave it as it originally intended to be: Ashburton Grove. Surely they could end he deal soon considering Arsenal aren't that desperate for cash these days, Likewise with Etihad Stadium, it should be left as Eastlands. Shoddy soulless commercialism. Yuck.

Yes the names are soulless but it is the company putting up the money for them so they will want their name on it. It's a shame really as when the sponsor goes it's just re-branded and history is lost along with it. Despite grounds all being in-around the same in terms of layouts a name can mean a lot and when it changes every 4-10 years or so club value is lost imo. Where do Bolton Wanderers play, the fucking Macron Stadium, formally the Reebok Stadium. JJB/DW, Aviva, Allianz Arena (30 year name rights), Emeriates, Eithad, Britannia, King Power/Walkers, Ricoh Arena all will lose their sense of identity when they change again. Stoke are the oldest ones only going back to 1997! Dagenham & Redbridge play in the fucking London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Stadium, not saying Victoria Road was an intimidating name but for fuck sake you think your back at amateur level if you were going to play there. Ha, FC Dallas play at Pizza Hut Park! Dick's Sporting Goods Park is another in the states but I expect no less there. Surprised Old Trafford hasn't had the rebranding name yet. Newcastle with the whole Sports Direct the other year was pure wank as well

Newcastle with the whole Sports Direct the other year was pure wank as well I just refuse to call it by the brand name these days. I just call it by its original name or say 'Arsenal's stadium'. The only other stadiums that will be left untouched are the old ones whereby its useless to rename them as they are so entrenched in peoples minds - like what happened to St James Park, nobody in their right mind was calling it Sports Direct Arena. I'm thinking West Ham's new stadium (the Olympic Park stadium) will be renamed when they move in over a years time.

What does everyone think of Klopp to Liverpool rumours?
German football punditry saying he'd be very interested if the opportunity arises...
Though if he has to go to an English club with a vacancy, love to see him mix it with the Geordies at Newcastle!

If Klopp wants to work with Liverpool they have to drop Brendan ASAP It would be fairly ruthless on Brendan I think if they sacked him. We've seen what he can do with better players, just that his transfer signings have been largely duds (not all his fault though - Liverpool have some kind of 'transfer committee' - which is a complete joke considering the amount wasted).

Yes, but it was always things like "The FA Cup, Sponsored by Budwiser" Now, it will potentially be incorporated in the name: "The Emirates FA Cup." And that, my friend, is bullshit. matt, Ashburton Grove was such a quality name, it still irks me that that's not the official name. I've grown to like The Emirates, but hate the fact that: 1.) It's commercialization and corporate, and 2.) It will no doubt be rebranded when The Emirates is no longer the sponsor, erasing the history along with it. Sometimes I wish we stayed at Highbury - a ground based on tradition, where we would have continued to have added to the trophy cabinet and not have to put up with a team of Almunias, Gervinhos, Denilsons, and Bendtners, etc.

Seriously the move was for the best(that way the club gets more revenue). Sometimes the past has got to move on and give space to.the future.

What the hell happened to Newcastle? After a poor start, they were resurgent by mid-season. 8th consecutive lost....I don't think they will but I hope the twats go down, they deserve to be relegated. Whereas the likes of Leicester and Burnley would be good value to stay up - I actually think Leicester will.
Also, I don't think Maureen will take manager of the year. There's many more deserving figures - and Nigel Pearson gets my vote. Just wow, Leicester.

With the budget he had he should have walked this league. I can't stand Nigel Pearson as a person - he's the world's most boring sociopath. If Leicester stay up then he'll have done a fantastic job. I'd love to see Burnley stay up. It's very unlikely now, given the result today as well, but they've spent next to nothing and have been great to watch for the most part. The manager of the year? It's quite tough to choose this season but Ronald Koeman would be my pick.

Remember when Pardew left and Newcastle fans were delighted? That's worked out well for them.

Remember when Pardew left and Newcastle fans were delighted? That's worked out well for them. To be fair, no coach was appointed and no players were bought in January, it was difficult but not impossible to this to happen.

John Carver's done an awful job though. No idea where their next point's going to come from but Sunderland's tough run in might be enough to keep them up.

Putting on three holding midfielders when at home to Palace, pathetic. They may be popping the champagne, but they haven't been playing champagne football. #boring

Van Gaal would be setting records, but Moyes got there before him. By Arsenal standards, Uniteds season is likely to be a success with a top 4 finish.
