I think I'm speaking for most of us on here - it just depends on the level of intoxication. Be Here Now is probably the least likely album I'd put on while doing something else as being in "party mode". Don't know how to better describe it. I must say, from my own experience, BHN just enhances that sort of "bigger than life" rush you get sometimes. During my studies, whenever I passed an exam and once i came home, it was the first album to be heard, LOUD. I've never been intoxicated so maybe I'm not qualified to post here lol, but BHN is my favorite album, exactly as it is. still I would be all for a naked version. it would show anybody who DARED to argue otherwise that, while yes Be Here Now is mainly about being loud and over the top and that's kinda what makes it great, you can take that away and you still got some pretty amazing songwriting

This reissue is probably what Brian Cannon was hinting at working on, instead of doing Noel's new album's artwork.
Thanks.

Good work DavidJay, and thanks to Owen Morris for taking the time to respond. Interesting stuff!
Really looking forward to the Definitely Maybe reissue. It is the best album ever written in my opinion, the absolute pinnacle.

[quote source="/post/1107164 * I personally like Magic Pie but no way does it even sniff an Oasis Top 20 list. That's also what I meant. Magic Pie. The intro is too long. Actually everything goes on for a little bit too long. The lyrics are fairly ridiculous. The outro even more. But that just makes it. When Alan White's drums kick in I get goosebumps, even more during the last couple of "ahahaaas" in the song's finale. It's just so over the top, and I love it. But still it isn't anywhere near Oasis (Noel's) best songwriting moments. I guess we somehow all have the same feeling about the album. It stand as a testament of its time. I wouldn't want a single note to change. Anyhow, as waitingforsally said, it is a good tune nevertheless. The reduced acoustic version Noel played for some french radion station in 1998 proves it. But it also really is a Let It Be situation. I mean, who would really prefer the "Naked"-version over the Spector-produced, which (like Be Here Now) has been dismissed by pretty much everyone involved? People tend to like what they've been used to. Anyway, I'm extremely excited about those remasters, even if it's gonna take another three and a half years.

There is defo is a divide on BHN even Liam and Noel see the album on polar opposites. I see it like many people BHN is the spirit of oasis / sums them up. Those days were crazy days and Oasis were the biggest band on the planet BHN was the result of oasis' hey day Be Here Now was a statement of the times like Noel always says. Here is proof, during this period he use to list his top 3 songs ever written as: Live Forever, Wonderwall and.................Magic Pie.
Says it all really. * I personally like Magic Pie but no way does it even sniff an Oasis Top 20 list. Exactly i didn't say it was their best music but sums them up as a whole. Many people will even see oasis' best songs as derivative #lad music so let's not lose sight. This was the product of them being biggest band in the world. And that's the sum of oasis to me, they did much better tunes technically , albums etc but especially oasis/noel shouldn't be ashamed of the past

They should edit some songs on BHN, cut like 20 minutes or more of the whole album.
Some songs are unnecessarily long: MBM, MP, BHN, AATW, IGBM.

It's guys like davidjay who make this forum what it is. What other forums can you get access to producers and insiders on a massive band? Simply fantastic.

davidjay congrats to you and your hard work getting bottom to things. Some the videos of Oasis done can be upgraded to better quality. Looking forward to the re-releases, especially DM. I hope Noel doesn't just stop with DM. Pretty cool to read Owen Morris post, but webm@ster's head got to be bigger than Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade float now.

Mustique tracklisting I emailed Owen Morris via his website asking about this and he very kindly replied with this track-listing. Mustique demos. D’you know what I mean My big mouth My sister lover Stand by me I hope I think I know The girl in the dirty shirt Don’t go Away Fade In-Out Stay young Angel child The fame All around the world It’s getting better man!! odmorris - I wonder if you could clarify exactly what these Be Here Now 'demos' are? Are they from the Mustique tape, or rough mixes from early on in the album sessions? Or perhaps they're something else entirely? They sound quite close to the album versions, though they obviously have Noel on vocals.

Be Here Now fascinates me for the simple reason that at the time I wondered how Noel could get it so horribly wrong. From Don't Look Back in Anger to Magic bloody Pie. Jesus. Still, it's not a hopeless case - there's some half-decent tunes in that era that could, with a bit more quality control, have made a half-decent album. Here's my version and I have to say it sounds pretty good: D'You Know What I Mean? 5.12 Stand By Me 4.11 Going Nowhere 3.58 Stay Young 4.28 Flashbax 4.21 I Hope, I Think, I Know 4.23 The Fame 4.32 Don't Go Away 4.40 The Girl In The Dirty Shirt 3.59 Be Here Now 4.08 All Around The World 5.34 And personally I always preferred the Jill Furmanovsky collage as the cover artwork rather than that nonsense with telephone boxes and mopeds.

agree with themanwithnoname, could be a nice listen.. but Stand By Me is not a second track. My Big Mouth's just great there. Stay Young would too... as it is on the single.. the poppy Stay Young after the HUGE comeback of DYKWIM.. love this.

That artwork is the centre fold of my BHN box set (I'd always assumed it was created just for that) Great album but Oasis could have gone back in time stopped the Beatles making Revolver then re-recorded as their own and it still wouldn't have been good enough for people such was the level of anticipation!

Wish they would do some form of tour, they would put the Stones to shame, Jagger can't sing anywhere near the level Plant can reach, watching the Celebration Day version of Kashmir gives me shivers. Wrong thread?

Wasn't the Mojo interview supposed to be out today? It's a bit crap to be honest. Just loads of pics we've all seen before, a short chat with Bonehead and then his comments on a few of the photos.

All I can say is Be Here Now is definitely NOT shit. I never understand those who say it is - it is the one album to put on when the adrenaline is flowing.
When I'm running and I need a kick, I listen to BHN.
