if I ever said I wasn't gonna get excited about new Oasis release I lied. just saw this on my timeline, will be saving up $$. don't have a copy of DM yet anyway so this is perfect. curious what will be on it, hopefully some live recordings that you can only get as bootlegs plus the b-sides would be nice

Don't really see the point of remastering it, Definitely maybe sounds superb. Morning glory on the other hand... I'm sure MG will get its much needed remaster next year. yes my thinking too, hopefully they will release a special edition for each album on the 20 anniversary, MG next year would be great

Here's some more info... the album has been remastered by long-time Oasis mastering engineer Ian Cooper, alongside Owen Morris. Cooper has worked on most Oasis releases since Don't Believe the Truth. They have remastered not only Definitely Maybe but also What's the Story Morning Glory? and Be Here Now. More reissues to come then! Pictures on Owen Morris' website. Including pics of the master tapes. owenmorris.net/2013/11/12/re-mastering-definitely-maybe-and-morning-glory-with-ian-cooper-2/

quick question: was the version that came out for the 10th anniversary DVD remastered`? No. Identical to the original Creation CD. Hope this helps. The tracks from DM on Stop the Clocks and Time Flies should give an idea of how the new version may sound as they have been remastered by the same engineer (Ian Cooper).

"I’ve just listened to those Mustique demos again for the first time since then: I’ve been down in London, supervising the re-mastering of the first three albums, and Ian Cooper had copied the Mustique demos for possible inclusion on a special “with extras” release of Be Here Now. They sound amazing. To me, anyway."

Wow, this is brilliant news. I'm a big fan of re-mastered reissues with loads of extra stuff on it - I've got all the REM ones. I'll be fascinated as to how they re-master it - those first two albums and b-sides in particular sound fine to me. That raw and harsh production on many songs is what makes it for me.
And re-mastered Be Here Now? Fascinating (though there will be a huge job remastering that!)

this is great. really excited for all of these. It is good that Owen Morris is there with Ian Cooper. Maybe they can bridge the gap from 90's Oasis to 00's Oasis in terms of sonic quality. This will be a treat for sure. The site has little tabs where Owen describes some things. Really interesting stuff. Says they should have used the demos more for BNH owenmorris.net/new-order-page-one-title-for-site-2-2-2/

Be Here Now being remastered as well? He better not fuck it up. I think that would be pretty hard to do. I am really curious what it will sound like.

If they are doing Morning Glory for next year as well, could we finally hear a Liam version of Don't Look Back In Anger? If they did, it would be wigwam trouser time for most on here.

The quality of the remasters will depend on whether Owen Morris is still on coke or not.

I'm not convinced that even exists. That song is Noel's 'precious' isn't it? According to Nick Brine there was a version with Liam singing. I've not seen this mentioned elsewhere, however. That said, there is a quote from Noel somewhere in which he says that when he handed Liam the lyrics he sang "don't back in anger, not today", confirming again to Noel his dyslexia (he'd forgotten to write "look" on the original). Will try and find the quote. Here it is: Noel on DLBIA... 'When I gave [Liam] Don't Look Back in Anger he's singing, 'But don't back in anger, not today.' I'm saying, 'It's don't look back in anger. 'He's saying, 'Well, that's not what's fuckin' written 'ere, chief'' Surprisingly, this exchange did not lead to the usual fraternal punch-up but served as confirmation to Noel of his dyslexia.' (From MOJO, December 1997, p. 64) Edit - most of the relevant info is in this thread: live4ever.proboards.com/thread/74942/liam-sang-back-angerHope this helps.

Judging by his website it seems Owen Morris has settled down. I agree with his notion that McGee shouldn't have been complaining that he was out of control with BHN, McGee had way more influence and power than Owen did. Frankly I think everyone was out of control and didn't know how to handle the success. Success that has rarely been matched by a rock n' roll band, even 20 years later.
It is really cool to hear his story. Sounds like on DM he was making a sound and record that he wanted to make for the first time. He was no doubt, the right guy for Oasis in their early years.

Imagine if the remaster comes out and there's bagpipes and flute all over Supersonic.

Liam will have secretly reinstated his mix of Rock n Roll Star with bagpipes at the end. No doubt. I hope we get to hear the instrumental segues that Noel planned for BHN. About ten minutes in total, spread across the album if I remember rightly. That would be great. Would make it a double CD I think.

I wonder if we'll get to hear Reminisce and Alice on the 3CD release and if that's why that tape is getting so much movement lately. I mean, maybe somebody is trying to sell it fast because in a few months it will be worth a lot less.

I mean, maybe somebody is trying to sell it fast because in a few months it will be worth a lot less. Interesting theory, but I very much doubt we'll get any songs from that era (1991-1992) on a release of Definitely Maybe. Those songs aren't really associated with the DM era, as they had been left behind by the time they came to record demos for the album. As I think someone else said, the only unreleased song (that we know of) that is likely to appear is probably Strange Thing, as it was recorded with a batch of other songs that all ended up on DM (or its b-sides). My bet is we'll have to wait for an 'Anthology'-type release to get all the older stuff (See The Sun, Take Me, Alice, Reminisce, etc). I'm hoping to be proved wrong though!

I'm assuming with the deluxe cd there will be a live concert. Hopefully it is one from the archives that we haven't heard.
