ouu, I shall give a full listen on my good ol record player today! I didn't know the album leaked out when it did, wasn't signed up here yet, but on the day it was released I didn't have a way of getting it and told my teacher about it and he bought it for me on iTunes! Even though I enjoy Noels album more I'm getting more Beady Eye stuff than Noels My collection is here live4ever.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=factsandfictionbe&action=display&thread=66579 I enjoy Beady Eyes music a lot and can't wait for their 2nd album. I'm thinking about getting the BE logo tattooed onto my wrist , a majority of you will call me stupid for doing so and I'll probably regret it later on, but Beady Eye are the first band I was excited about because I found Oasis late, staying up till 3 in the morning to get a limited vinyl (damn time differences) but it was fun. Waiting for their new single to come out, listening to it for the first time. Seeing them live and having to travel all the way to Toronto to see them - live4ever.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=downloadattachmentpage&board=factsandfictionbe&thread=66787&post=857616 (which was definitely worth it) Just listening to the album as I type this and I haven't given it a full listen since last summer, great album, nothing groundbreaking but still great. Personal favorite on the album is Three Ring Circus (still)

I listen to it at least one time each week. I like it as much as i did when it came out. Can't wait for the next album! Watched the Casino De Paris gig yesterday, and what a concert it is! I hope Liam's voice is as good next tour.

My 28th Feb 2011 review:
4LW: nice way to kick the album off M: rubbish TR: quality B&S: it's alright innit WUD: quite like this, bit different innit BTL: meh FA: amazing tune, love it KFAD: it's alright, bit boring SOTEOTN: utter shite W: wow, quite like that 3RC: nah, don't like that TBGO: beautiful, questionable lyrics though TMS: amazing song, truly special...
My 28th Feb 2012 review:
4LW: Rubbish, boring shit lyrics. M: Rubbish, boring shit lyrics TR: it's alright, but lyrics are questionable though.. B&S: it's alright I guess... WUD: meh, alright, auto tune went out of fashion in 2010 though BTL: next! FA: still like it... But... "there she goes" KFAD: boring, "these dark glasses need something to do" wtf!?!?! SOTEOTN: utter shite W: there's a good drum loop.... 3RC: still don't do it for me TBGO: literally the worst lyrics I've ever, ever heard in my life. TMS: adore this tune, in my top 10 all time songs. Reminds me of someone though which makes me sad.
On the whole, the lyrics are woeful at parts, but it's an alright album I suppose. I'll be getting #2 that's for sure

Any album with Four Letter Word, The Roller, For Anyone, Wigwam, Kill For a Dream, Three Ring Circus and The Morning Son on it is pretty damn good enough for me. Still play it a lot and can't wait for the next one.

KFAD: boring, "these dark glasses need something to do" wtf!?!?! I actually quite like that line. 'Well here's my glass and here's one for you, 'Cause these dark glasses need something to do' It's basically saying let's get hammered, so these sunglasses we're wearing can serve a purpose by covering up how drunk/hungover we are. For some reason when I hear that line I always think of Liam, Andy, Gem and Chris getting drunk in the bar in Paris after Noel walked out and forming Beady Eye.

It aged surprisingly well. Some of the more forgettable tracks (WUD, B&S) got better for me over the last year, and songs like TRC, FLW and TMS are still great. Gave the album a few listens in the last weeks and really, really enjoyed it. I guess if BDI#2 is on the same level I'll be quite happy.

love the majority of the album last year, seen them on 3rd march at barrowlands haven't listened to the album since that night until now.
FLW - still love Millionaire - annoying overly happy The Roller - still enjoyable Beatles and Stones - its ok Wind Up Dream - annoying Bring The Light - always been my fav track, still love it. For Anyone - its just shit and repetitive and annoying. Kill For A Dream - its ok, i like the guitar in it. SOTEOTN - annoying as fuck Wigwam - its a good song. maybe a bit too long Three Ring Circus - still enjoyable The Beat Goes On - still like this, not the best song ever but its good The Morning Son - its ok, slow. Man Of Misery - loved this song since it was in the pretty green vids. World outside my room - its different, i like it. Two of a kind - its good, its lacking something though. In the bubble with the bullet - still like this song.
its a decent album, but i never have the urge to go listen to a track. i loved it, seen them perform it. a year on im not bothered about it. i really want to like their new stuff and im sure i will for a week and after the gig it will be forget about it again lol.

Not overly keen on it but there are tracks I do love for instance four letter word is the song I've played the most on my iPod/iPad I love it more than any NGHFB song, I could honestly listen to it every day, in fact I think I probably did for a while and the roller and the morning son are still great but TBGO turned out not to be great after not long.

i still like, its a decent album, i liked that they didnt muck about and got music out to people.
a few points:
1) a lot of it is forgettable, wind up dream, kill for a dream, for anyone are all poor. 2) why wasnt WOSMR on the album? its brilliant. 3) the morning son - i really didnt like this when i first heard it, i even left the troxy gig early when they played now. I never understood why people went on about how brilliant it was. Now i absolutely love it, dont know why, its brilliant, and sounds AMAZING through good headphones.

Just heard it after months without playing it. Still the same criticism: poor production ala U2, too long and some tracks not worked enough. That criticism is even greater since HFB was released. On one hand you got a classic record, on the other a good but forgetable record.

FLW:Still like this. It would have fit on an oasis album. M:THIS was a single? Really? FFS. Boring. TR:Alright. The kind of tune I never want to put on but then when I hear it I sing along. B&S: This is a cliché right here. WUD: Meh. BTL: Possibly the worst song connected with oasis in anyway. Gives Little James a run for its money. FA: Borning KFAD: Urgh SOTEOTN:LOL W: Instantly reminds me of Phil Collins. Never a good way to start. TRC: Didn't see the fuss then, don't see it now. TBGO: Meh, an attempt at a DLBIA type song (which I saw it compared to in at least one review) that falls so far short.... TMS: Didn't see the fuss then, still don't.

On one hand you got a classic record, on the other a good but forgetable record. You don't like the production which is fair enough but it is not 'poor', nothing is to promintent in the sound and the different instuments have enough space. haha HFB's 'classic'.

The production on DGSS is easily the best thing about it.

The production on DGSS is easily the best thing about it. I agree wholeheartedly. The stars of that album are Lillywhite, Liam, and Chris. With the exception of SOTEOTN...bad song, bad production.

I like the production overall. But songs like Beatles & Stones and Three Ring Circus sounds pretty flat. They would have sounded better with a dirtier guitar sound. Like the live version of Three Ring Circus for example. Same goes for Liam's vocals on that track on the album, sound too fixed. Better live!
But the other songs are really well produced.

It's the definition of average, with a few hints of solid material (FLW, WW, TRC, TMS). Thank god they are good musicians, though, because they make up for the average tunes with their live performances.

The production is good and Liam is Ok, but the songs weren't there, nothing memorable IMO

Lillywhite made a good job on the album but 3RC would have sounded better with dirtier guitar but on the other song there aren't production problems

It's the definition of average, with a few hints of solid material (FLW, WW, TRC, TMS). Thank god they are good musicians, though, because they make up for the average tunes with their live performances. I would mostly agree with this. FLW- Still might be the best song off this album and the best that Beady Eye have. Solid to really good tune. 8/10 Millionaire- Didn't find this track to be good. I still don't. Average at best imo. 6/10 The Roller- I actually somewhat like this song, even though it is still a banal ballad. Third best song on the album for me. 8/10 Beatles and Stones- I still don't know what they were thinking with song. 4/10 Wind Up Dream- Definitely not one of Gem's finest moments. 5/10 Bring The Light- I can ever give a full opinion on this track. I've switched between finding this song to being bad, then to being amusingly bad, then okay, the pretty good, and now, back to bad. 4/10 For Anyone-I actually liked this song when the album came out. But its stock has seriously dropped. I can't stand it now. 6/10 Kill For A Dream-Its stock rises because of the live performances of it (you could say that with almost any of the songs on this album). But as to song on the album, it's average at best imo. 6/10 Standing On The Edge of Noise- I don't like to say that any song is complete shit because I try to find the best components in every song and appreciate those things, but song is complete shit. 2/10 Wigwam-I still find this track to be enjoyable. Repetitive? Yes Wasted potential? Possibly. But still a good track. Not great, but good. 8.5/10 Three Ring Circus- I remember this being seriously praised when it was released. It's still an average song for me. I don't know about anyone else. 6/10 The Beat Goes On-I had it as a 7.5 when this was release and I still do. The Morning Son- I still don't get the praise that this song gets. It's a good song, but I've never thought of this song as amazing or truly great. Good song though. 8/10 I still think that main problem with DGSS was A.) having far too many songs on the album. They could have easily brought the tracklisting down to 10, used the remaining tracks as b-sides and strengthened the singles. B.) Poor songwriting. It's hard to prop a song up when the base (its songwriting) is shaky. I agree with gd, Chris, Liam, and Lillywhite, and good musicianship saved this album. It could have easily have been worse, a whole lot worse. With them, they elevate it to being a 7/10 the same that I gave it the night it leaked, but it's pushing close to a 6.5/10 for me. Especially considering that many songs have dropped in my view of them. Still an album with 3 or 4 good tunes and varying shades of bad and okay.
