Wow just hearing this album for the first time, this is really good. It's the ex-Spacemen 3 member Pete Bassman's project from mid 90s.

Leonard Cohen's I'm Your Man (1988), and Pretenders' Pretenders II (1981).
First time listening to either of these. I knew I'm Your Man pushed Leonard's sound even further away from what it originally was, and towards the digitized, clinical sound synoymous with 80s production techniques--and does it ever. Still I think he mostly gets away with it on the strength of the material.
As for the Pretenders record, I was very pleasantly surprised by it. It's genuinely quite odd in places. Props to Chrissie Hynde for having the balls to produce such a rough-sounding, difficult record as the follow up to a very successful, hit single-yielding debut. Especially two years into the 80s. It really rocks.

Just now, Steven Wilson's hand.cannot.erase with himself and Tim Burgess at the Twitter listening party. My first one was Oasis, yesterday The Pogues and now Wilson. I love what Burgess has created here!

I'm not sure if it's the phenibut that's now kicking in but this album really puts me in a great mood, probably my favourite band around at the moment.

Springsteen's The River, but it did nothing for me. Not enough variety, and too clean-sounding.
