I'm very surprised to hear that from you. Steven and Matt was needed ? The Rolling Stones original lineup only has 3 mick keef and Charlie. Yet nobody is complaining No izzy. That sux but like no bill wyman. They Roll on I don't know man. The Stones always had a consistent lineup. In 1968 they kicked Brian Jones out due to extreme drug use and he died a few months later. Mick Taylor took over from 1968 to 1974. Arguably their golden era of classic albums. When Mick quit, Ronnie Woos entered and has been with the band since. Bill Wyman quit in 1993, decades after their last relevant album. True and good point But honestly if Ron wood pulled a bill wyman and retired and he was replaced by another guitarist. Don't you think the ROLLING STONES would be able to continue As long as there Mick and Keith. Nobody cares. Same with guns. If it's ax and slash its guns. Simple as That's what made Zep so rare. No bonzo. No Zep. Same can't be said about the stones or guns. Why I have no problem with it Also why I have no respect for macca. Who floated the idea of a " Beatle reunion " until George came out with the greatest quote ever

It was around the time free as a bird was done. they all were getting along great. Scotso was going ga ga And macca said he could see the Beatles reforming with Julian. It was probably a flippant comment , but he made it
The next day George came out and issued a press release. He said the Beatles will reunite ......when John Lennon comes back from the dead. It was pure class

I only found it weird an unusual that you would reference a quote as the greatest ever but not actually write it in your post. That's all I was saying. What was the quote? Wanted to know if it was something I never heard before. Turns out it wasn't.

Who floated the idea of a " Beatle reunion " until George came out with the greatest quote ever I think what makes GNR different from bands with many different lineups is that it was the classic lineup that released all but one album. (In my opinion, Chinese Democracy didn't come from a real band; it was essentially an Axl solo album.) Sure, there were many lineups post-Slash, but it wasn't like The Kinks, Yes, or King Crimson where they kept releasing material. All everyone wants to hear are the classic GNR songs. Also, The Stones have had the same lineup since 1993. That's 23 years. GNR have had THIRTEEN different lineups in that same time. (Meanwhile, Zeppelin have only played four one-off performances since Bonzo's death in 1980.) I understand where you're coming from here, but I think they're not the best comparisons. I think the closest thing this can be compared to is Black Sabbath on their farewell tour with Tommy Clufetos (the drummer in Ozzy's solo band) instead of Bill Ward.

Nothing too major but I see they are doing a couple of shows in Las Vegas in April.
Also the BBC is airing a documentary next month: The Story of Guns N’ Roses.
Hopefully get some more dates/details soon.

I see Axl is stepping in for ACDC, I'm sure two gigs a night will mean his voice is amazing for this reunion..

Nice little cover from Norah Jones.
Speaking of GNR did anyone else hear all the ~2001 era demos which leaked last year? Most of them were throwaway instrumentals but there was some interesting and somewhat unexpected stuff there. I thought 'Atlas Shrugged' was excellent. Worth a search around for.

I thought 'Atlas Shrugged' was excellent. Worth a search around for. I was following the leaks very closely. As you say the majority were instrumentals but we did end up with about half an albums worth of brand new material with Axl vocals: Hardschool - this is looking likely to be become a new single, they rehearsed it recently at their last gig in Mexico with Axl on vocals. Atlas Strugged - excellent as you say. Perhaps - another excellent track, could easily have been on Use Your Illusion. State Of Grace - my favourite of the leaks, killer vocals, could have been a huge GNR comeback single in the 2000s. Eye On You - a decent album track. Nothing - pretty poor but noteworthy as it features vocals. Silkworms - played live in 2001 but this is the first time a studio version has leaked. It's also worth noting that we basically got an early cut of Chinese Democracy from 2000 in CD#1 of the leaks, with a FAR better sound mix than we got with the final 2008 release, less layers and proper bass. Rumour has it that they're on the brink of putting out a new album, but I imagine the Coronavirus has put a massive spanner in the works.

That's still the version I favor, by a long shot. After the leak, Axl turned that record into mud.

Rumour has it that they're on the brink of putting out a new album, but I imagine the Coronavirus has put a massive spanner in the works. Such a great time for fans of the Chinese Democracy era. Generally I'm a big fan of all the leaks. Here's my rundown: Atlas Shrugged - A bit more upbeat than what we got on CD. Very catchy. I love the way the 2nd verse comes in, I hope they haven't fucked with that. Nice solo from Brian May too. An obvious single for me that I could see anti-CD fans liking. 9/10 The General [Partial leak] - Ok it's not been fully leaked but a very hard to hear 2 minute clip of it being played at 2010 GNR after party has been. The very talented Evader has reconstructed it and it sounds like an epic. Really mean, soaring guitar solos abound. Listen to Evader's reconstruction then the genuine leak and it'll pop out from all the background noise. There's a reason 'Atlas Shrugged' and 'The General' were referred to as "big guns" before the leaks. 9/10 State of Grace - One of the more industrial tracks, reminiscent of Nine Inch Nails/Marilyn Manson. I've never heard Axl singing in such a laid back manner before (it works really well). Lots of interesting stuff happening instrumentally. Very much album worthy. 8/10 Going Down - One of the older leaks now. Again one of the more upbeat tracks I could see anti-CD fans liking. Great vocals from Tommy Stinson, though this could hinder it from future release. Hopefully not! 8/10Hardschool - A very short clip of it leaked an absolute age ago under the fan penned title 'Checkmate' (though Axl later clarified it as 'Jackie Chan'). Seems to be the fans favourite from what I've seen. A straightforward rocker with some very hooky vocals. Like you said it's recently been rehearsed so I fully expect it to come out at some point. Apparently there's a short clip out there of them rehearsing it with a reworked intro, something I don't disapprove of. 8/10 Silkworms - Two versions of this have been leaked now, one from ~2001 (like they played live) and a more straightforward punky version presumably from later. Both are good but the rework takes it for me. I can see this version fitting into an album much easier. Not a popular choice amongst the fans but I like it. 8/10 Perhaps - Seems to be a popular cut. I'm not quite behind the hype personally, the piano riff feels a touch clunky for me. I'm pleased it didn't make CD but it deserves to be released in some format. I wouldn't be against it going on a future album but it's a lower priority. 7/10 Eye On You - I'm a little undecided on this one. Sounds like it should have been on the soundtrack to some early 00's sci-fi/action movie. As is I can't see it fitting on an album as it's definitely dated the most. I'd totally understand why others wouldn't like it. " I know you think you're bad but who's the mac daddy" x8 Haha! 6/10 Nothing - Not feeling this one at all. I'm all down for more experimental cuts but this is a slam dunk in the recycling bin. 3/10 I believe the only other track of that era we have with vocals not to feature on CD is the demo to 'Oh My God' which was officially released back in 99. I love that song (9/10) but whether it'd come out on an album over 20 years later after being officially released is unlikely. They did rerecord it for CD so a proper version of it does exist. It'd be nice to hear that one day. As for the instrumentals my favourites are 'P.R.L.', 'Dummy', 'Quick Song', 'Zodiac 13', 'Tonto', 'The Rebel', 'Real Doll.com' and 'Dub Suplex'. God it's good to hear some more Buckethead. I thought the instrumental demo to 'Shackler's Revenge' was wonderful. I believe I'm missing one or two of the instrumentals ('Down by the Ocean' and another) but I'll try get my hands on them at some point. Of the songs that were later released on CD it was interesting to hear what had and hadn't changed. Off the top of my head I prefer the ~01 versions of 'Street of Dreams' and 'Catcher In the Rye' in particular. As for a new album, I'll have to see it before I believe it!
