You think I won't accept anything that's not oasis because you deleted the "Dude, I reviewed CY in an excellent way, as you can see in the reviews thread." in the quote. It's ok, I enjoy SOTSOG and HC even more than CY. Because my subjective preferences lean towards distortion, air, spice, singalong, size, lead guitar, strenght, bravado, etc. To summar, everything that made oasis oasis. And i don't quite see it in NGHFBs thaaat much. But I like it anyway. It's a matter of personal preferences. Oasisesque preferences. The appeal of Heathen Chemistry is that it is straightforward no nonsense tunes. But I don't know, there's someone about that period of Noel's writing that just lacks bite for me - and that includes the upcoming Revolution Song. There is something inexplicable but gaping missing from them and I can't put my finger on it. And I do think Liam's vocals cover up the inadequacies of many of his tunes from that era. Heck, I think Liam singing Force of Nature may even warrant it as half decent.... just maybe! But ever since 2005, I think Noel has been in a rich vein of form, accepting of course that he's never going to write another Live Forever (because that top form of songwriting is rare in music history). Has he written any truly bad tunes? Of course he has his weaker ones, but I'm struggling to think of one that is genuinely just poor. I really, really hate Mucky Fingers.

I feel like Noel read this forums while making Chasing Yesterday. More rocking than HFB? Check. More guitar solos? Hell yeah. Experiment with some psychodelic stuff? Sure. Everything people disliked about HFB (which was already bloody great) is gone from this one. I'm looking forward to the second wave of enthusiasm on the forum when the people who are avoiding the leak get the album in their hands. I tried, lasted one day I think someone is reading this forum. He started playing songs like Angel Child, Idler's Dream and Shout it Out Loud after showing no intention of doing so before ever...

Some people are never satisfied. First you moan why it hasn't leaked yet, then once you got what you were looking for, then asking if there's a better version. I just don't get it. I have nothing against people download leak, especially for the people outside UK, Europe and Japan as some of them don't know if it'll ever released in their countries. We, European are spoiled. Be happy with what you got or wait for official release like I do. I'm really looking forward to hold my copy of Japanese edition, unwrapped it, look at album cover, read liner notes, sit on my own then listen to it full volume for the very first time. That's one of the greatest moments to being a music lover. All he did was ask a question. He didn't demand anything or imply he wasn't satisfied with what he got.

I am happy with what Noel has put out, especially DOTL, and this album is probably actual album(just the songs put on the album) since BHN. I am happy with the way things are, but mark my words, once the reunion actually happens(and I think it will eventually) everyone here who "doesn't" want it to happen will still be excited and changing their tune. I want them to reunite, because I want to see them live. Sure you guys that saw them repeatably can say that you don't want to see them for the 400th time, but the people that haven't do. There is demand for it.

Like someone rightly said above, Oasis were dying, a band worn out of ideas and albums way below the quality we expect. Sorry but best thing that ever happened was Oasis splitting up and Noel going solo. I'm getting tired of people continuing to ignore the good of DOYS. The Turning and The Shock of the Lightning, and Bag it Up are just as good, if not better than anything that came after it. I am enjoying everything since, and I love the new album, but you guys are revising history. They had the songs to make DOYS an almost perfect album, they just didn't use them. No way were they "out of ideas." I miss the rock songs written by Noel being sung by Liam. They are still good, but they aren't classics. Noels voice just doesn't lend itself to that type of song as well.

We heard Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me was a b-side to AKA What A Life. Alone On The Rope also dropped before the album. A Simple Game of Genius was included as the fifth song. I can understand Lock All The Doors, I suppose I'm being pessimistic towards that one. If it's not so different, I'll be happy. If it's massively different and practically a new song, I'll be well surprised. Win-win. true! thinking about it, we're better off this time - when HFB leaked, I believe we had already listened to the soundcheck of EOTR, the demos of RM and STC, the singles TDOYAM, IIHAG and WAL and the bonus track Let the Lord... So the only brand new tracks were Dream On, Broken Arrow, SBAJF and SOTWB. Plus, two bonus tracks: AOTR and ASGOG. This time we have 8 brand new tracks (I'm counting LATD and Leave My Guitar Alone). We had a soundcheck version of A Simple Game of Genius too

Oh absolutely. He would be my second pick. But I kid you not. I've seen them both ( sadly ) live. Actually saw petty twice. He is very monotonous. But not even petty is a bad as as thorougood. Im telling you his whole set. Is 80 minute " Madison blues ". guy fingers are glued to those 3 notes. But petty is right there I thought Pretty and the Heartbreaker put on one of the best shows I ever saw. I thought so to. He has many different types of songs, and considering he went almost 30 years into his career until he had a bad record, I would say he's done alright.

Ehm..have you ever heard anyone say the lyrics to PYMWYMI are good? I've heard quite the opposite, and on this forum too. Shit lyrics are shit lyrics and most people are not stupid. Noel is guilty of some clunkers as well. Exactly. My point is that no one singles out PYMWYMI as especially awful whereas many use Little James as the standard of shit Oasis songs which I think is unjustified when there are lyrics/songs like PYMWYMI on the same album. Don't quite get what your talking about. There's a pretty big consensus that PYMWYMI, ICSAL and Little James all have terrible lyrics, hence people wishing they were replaced...

Also The Who isn't big in USA, I guess. Haven't you ever seen The Concert for New York City? That was after Keith Moon, and they got by far the biggest reaction of anyone, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, etc included

Tom Petty released his most successful solo album at 49, so maybe there's hope. I doubt he can come up with something better than DM or WTSMG? tho... Sorry to say you are ten years off on Tom Petty. He was 39 when Full Moon Fever came out. Smash hit too! Damn, subtraction is my undoing again. Well he had another well selling solo album at 45(Wildflowers, better than Full Moon Fever) then! Back to the subject, I still think it's possible Noel can release another smash hit, it just won't be along the same vein or as successful as Wonderwall or Live Forever. He just has a different mindset now.

The song is alright, but the sad part is that Noel is not going to the hall of fame with his solo carrer. He's nothing like Weller, Morrissey, Mccartney. I'm sure he always wished that but, he is just going to be the Oasis songwriter with some little solo albums later. I expected him to be even bigger after the split, always waited for his solo carrer, but it's not going to be spectacular. I think we can all agree on that. That's what bothers kalas for example, i believe. Best days are behind him. Talk about needing some reality pills. Of course his very best days are behind him--he's in his 40s and he's already written Morning Glory and Definitely Maybe two of the greatest albums of all time. Even if he wrote another Definitely Maybe, it still wouldn't be viewed as another Definitely Maybe because that's just the way people perceive things. Virtually noone does their best work in their 40s and 50s. 99 percent peak in their 20s and early 30s. As much as people go on about Bob Dylan's later work, it hasn't a patch on Blonde on Blonde and Highway 61 Revisited. And as much as I love me some Paul McCartney, he hasn't done anything Hall of Fame worthy since about 1975, when he was still in his early 30s. Noel turned solo in his early 40s. Big difference. And you thought Noel would be bigger than NGHFB? That album sold three quarters of a million copies in the UK, an huge amount of albums in this day and age. No sane person would have predicted any better before NGHFB came out. Tom Petty released his most successful solo album at 49, so maybe there's hope. I doubt he can come up with something better than DM or WTSMG? tho...
