Has anyone else noticed how much Thom has aged, in just like 5 years?

I think he still needs to lose some weight. Apart from that, he's looking good.

Every Verve album is a 'true' Verve album to me I would actually put 'ASIH' and 'Forth' as their truest Verve sounding albums. 'ANS' is probably my favourite Verve album, but it took a step back from the unique psychedelic Verve sound of 'ASIH' and was only represented again in parts of 'Forth'.

Let's be honest, this new single/album and tour is just funding the Roses' retirement fund. I haven't got a problem with that, and good luck to them, but I doubt they're that bothered about creating another masterpiece. Having said that, the new single isn't good enough IMO.

Internet forums aren't part of real life. Just don't take it seriously We're real people, expressing real opinions with other real people. So it is 'real' IMO, but obviously don't take it too seriously.

I'm not really getting the Beady Eye comparisons. I'm guessing BE will be far superior to the Roses new album.

What's the deal with Dicky and his interviews? I'm only a casual Verve fan and have only lately been watching a few of his interviews. He comes across as a complete wanker who thinks he some sort of God (possibly even more than Noel!)?! I used to really enjoy his interviews, especially around 2002, he was really interesting to listen to and informative. Now he's so self indulgent and takes himself so seriously its almost cringeworthy. I could forgive him if he was putting out a new masterpiece of an album, but he's not.

But the last minute is exactly the same as the rest of the track... He was probably including the guitar solo

IMO any of Ian Brown's solo singles are much better than this. I would of liked something more darker, edgier and atmospheric, which I think is something Ian is good at capturing. To me this single just screams 'Hey the Stone Roses are back, and it's summer, yeeaaah!' Which is fine for your casual music listener, but not for me sadly.

I mean it's not bad, but it sounds like b-side material to me. Very repetitive too, but I hope it grows on me.

It is, but you'll want to make a playlist with the b-sides Ghost Story and All Your Friends. They're vastly superior to some of the trash on the album (Ink, True Love, A Sky Full of Stars). Midnight remains the last great song they released. Ok, I'm going for it. Don't hurt me (heh) but I'm gonna...rank the tracks. Of course, Radiohead albums are cohesive wholes etc but still, in zee nem of fun: GREAT 1. Identikit 2. The Present Tense 3. True Love Waits 4. The Numbers 5. Daydreaming 6. Burn the Witch 7. Decks Dark 8. Ful Stop REALLY, REALLY GOOD 9. Glass Eyes JUST REALLY GOOD 10. Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor Rich Man Poor Man Beggar Man Thief 11. Desert Island Disk I'd rank the albums, but I'm scared of putting it ahead of In Rainbows. Might just be deserving of it though. If it helps, I think it's better than In Rainbows! Seriously, I do think this lays claim to being their 'best since Kid A' - that's always a cliche with bands to rank them like that, but I genuinely feel it with this one. I would personally put it above Kid A. Im obsessed with Daydreaming right now, this song will be with me forever.

I think one of the reasons why these new Verve remasters are coming out now, could be due to Nicks financial situation. Seeing him have to sell his old guitars on Facebook last year was pretty sad, and I hope he gets a good salary from these new releases. I might be wrong, but good on him for doing it anyway.

I feel like I'm unnecessarily putting this off topic, but was there not rumours about a Verve reunion last year? Something like Nick McCabe and Ashcroft had made up with each other (again). Listening to Hold On and I'm not keen. I'd love to see McCabe and co lay down a track and Ashcroft sing over the top of it again, because as I said previously, I actually thought Forth was pretty good. No, unfortunately not. I recall Nick saying something like 'it's up to Richard', as in it's his call, but he never got in contact. There were rumours of a Northern Soul aniversary tour, but obviously never happened. Judging by the state of Richards ego right now, there wont be another reunion. He obviously prefers to produce mediocre output to amazing Verve music. And yeah, Forth was great.

For those that don't know, Richard released a music video for the remix of 'Hold On'......Jesus fucking Christ.

Why is a lemon their trademark? I know its part of their artwork, but has it ever been explained?

I cant wait for the soundboard live recordings to surface during their upcoming tour. Is 'Ghost Stories' worth checking out btw? I love every song on In Rainbows almost equally, so AMSP still comes behind. Daydreaming is probably one of the best songs I've ever heard, and can't really compare it to anything else.

The Guardian: 4/5 The Telegraph: 5/5 A major publication reviewing an album, particularly a Radiohead album, a few hours after it's released should be banned. At least give it a day or two. Apparently the telegraph changed it from 4 to 5 stars half a day later.

Maybe they've had long days at work? Seriously though, I'm glad you like it. I'm digging it a fair bit myself. Down the coal mines? Sure Seriously though, I love this. I think every single track is brilliant. 21 years since The Bends, they have no right to still be this good. What's your favourite track so far? 'Daydreaming' and 'The Numbers' for me at the moment. I cant put this above In Rainbows unfortunately, but its still an epic entry to Radioheads discography.
