I dunno - I gave up reading the first post when I couldn't understand the first two sentences.

Given that people can already buy the songs individually I'm not exactly sure what determines whether a song is "released" as a "single" anyway these days.
If Noel just issues a press release announcing a song from the album is now a "single" does that now simply make it a single?

...but he'd never explicitly write a song centred around atheism... Then what is CARRY US ALL about?

I always thought it was another atheist themed song, albeit it not quite as direct or obvious as CARRY US ALL.

I think it'll be similar to Noels digital release of Council Skies with the docu, but just audio commentary I suppose. No this one is apparently a digital pressing, not a digital release.

Knebworth 22 (Access All Areas) is coming soon.
This will be a very special version of the record: packed full of Liam’s own commentary, and for the first time ever, memories of everyone that attended the show.
The Access All Areas Edition will be an exclusive, limited-edition digital pressing. Including two additional bonus tracks.Memories of EVERYONE that attended the show? How long is this release? And what is a "digital pressing"? I think it'll be similar to Noels digital release of Council Skies with the docu, but just audio commentary I suppose. Yes but if they've featured the memories of everyone that attended the show - even if they just spoke for a few seconds each - how long would that commentary go for? How many people were in that crowd?

Did that "making of" documentary ever surface anywhere?

Trying to Find a World That's Been and Gone is up there with The Masterplan to me. Donno if it's because I never listened to demos. Yes. Call me crazy but I prefer this over Dead to the World. Me too. THINK OF A NUMBER and TRYING TO FIND A WORLD THAT'S BEEN AND GONE are the only two tracks from the album that really stand out to me.

Sounds like a Red and Blue album plus EP of 1994 songs are coming this fall. Does that translate as as "one new song coming this fall"?

What was the Abba project. Hologram show in East London, like watching ABBA perform in their prime. I know holograms sound naff but it is properly impressive and very realistic. The venue is basically a pop up venue built especially for the show, so its built around the technology. Something that works very well for visually iconic artists so would be ideal for The Beatles. It would be a real shame if this was the sort of Beatles project they were working on.

Mind Games was worth the wait. Definitely my favorite track on disc 2 of Council Skies. I've slotted it in just before Think Of A Number on my Council Skies playlist - they work well back to back. An ambient, dreamy remix of the track would be nice too.

Only one song!?
I worked in a warehouse for a few months where everybody argued about the choice of radio station so eventually I just had a playlist arranged and playing over the speakers all day. Everybody got to initially choose 20 songs (between us that pretty much covered three work days) and I had them playing at random.
Every weekend everybody could email me a choice of another 10 songs and I would add them to that initial playlist by Monday morning. Every week the number of songs quickly grew.
Some complained about the song choices and eventually I gave everybody the option of also being able to remove a song (regardless of who had chosen it) but it came at the cost of adding one of their own songs (ie they could delete one song from the playlist if it really annoyed them but that meant they could only add 9 not 10 tracks that week).
Actually I came up with the "remove a track" option myself because if I ever had to listen that awful Enemy song by Imagine Dragons again I was going to smash that work ipad playing the songs to pieces.
I had to put a limit on song lengths (some were choosing 30 minute remixes which really went against the spirit of the whole thing) and being a workplace I had to warn them about songs that might be considered offensive to co-workers.
It was good fun and led to lots of good hearted banter - "Who chose this great song!? I'd forgotten this one!" or "I bet you chose this crap you idiot!".
I had lots of Oasis and Britpop and Beatles and Stones and Kinks in there. I left after 3 or 4 months so I don't know if anybody kept the thing going. Maybe they remember me whenever an Oasis track starts playing! Maybe they've all slowly elected to remove my choices? Who knows?

Probably the most insignificant thing to hate but: all lowercase song titles. I don't know why, I can't stand this What do you reckon about all uppercase titles? That's fine by me - upper case at least looks nice and neat.

]I get your point, and you're probably right. But I also find hard to imagine Yoko or her assistant sitting down and listening to hours and hours of material and home demos trying to select the most beatle sounding ones to hand them to Paul. Why would they take the time to do such a thing? Even if it's not his handwriting, maybe John had put away a bunch of songs over the years "just in case" The Beatles ever came back? All John's unfinished tapes and demos were sorted and compiled for The Lost Lennon Tapes radio series in the 1980s/1990s. Yoko and her team approved everything that was used over the course of several years. Stuff was also being collated and put aside for the eventual John Lennon Anthology Box Set. Yoko and her team were well aware of what demos were maybe in a fit state to be finished off by the Beatles. A shame in a way that the MILK AND HONEY album was released in 1984. How great it would have been for the Beatles to get hold of John's unheard and unfinished 1980 studio multitracks to finish off? NOBODY TOLD ME would have made for an amazing new Beatles single if they'd completed that instead of FREE AS A BIRD.

What do people think of this in the end? I have to say it’s too dreamy and relaxed for me. Much preferred the raw clip he released, it seems more in tune with the vibe of the song. Brilliant tune - best on the album. Very true.

The cassette Yoko handed over may well have had "For Paul" scrawled on it but John didn't write that. I want to believe John wrote that, so I have to ask: how do you know it wasn't him? Because why would John be compiling demos for Paul in the late 1970s? It's absolute nonsense. Secondly, if for some inexplicable reason John had written "for Paul" on the cassette, then you can bet it would have been heavily publicized at the time FREE AS A BIRD or REAL LOVE came out. It's not mentioned in any of the official Apple press releases nor do Harrison, McCartney or Starr mention it in any of their interviews at the time. If the tape does have "for Paul" written on it then it was obviously done by Yoko by or one of her assistants. Some reporter has heard of this scrawl at some stage and either deliberately or accidentally misrepresented it as being written by John. All it takes is one stupid mistake like this by a reporter and it gets picked up by other reporters who don't bother to fact check and next thing you know it's gone down in history as "factual". I had the radio on in the car yesterday and the announcer confidently stated the new Beatles single would be created by artificially replicating John's voice using AI for a brand new song. There were outraged people calling in vowing to boycott this "fake" single. I have no idea if the announcer knew what he was announcing was wrong or not but it was too late - the "fake AI Beatles single" is pretty much the angle every news station is now leading with.

...By the way, is that true, folks, that 'Free As a Bird', 'Real Love', and 'Now and Then' were compiled by Lennon onto a cassette labelled "For Paul"? I hadn't heard about that before, but the prospect of it being true is absolutely thrilling to me. The cassette Yoko handed over may well have had "For Paul" scrawled on it but John didn't write that.

Well if fans are buying multiple copies that's their choice to do so. I bought the 2CD deluxe version because most of the tracks are on that. I'n not buying the Japanese release for one bonus track (that should also have been on the 2CD deluxe version) and I don't have a turntable so I'm not wasting my money on any tracks exclusive to vinyl. In fact truth be told I download all Noel and Liam's music now via mp3 from "elsewhere" and first heard Noel's album that way. The deluxe CD I bought directly from his website will probably never actually get played or ripped. And this is why streaming services can get away with paying artists so little. The alternative is nothing. This is the real reason sales are so low and fans get ripped off by all these multiple versions. You’re the problem baker! 😂 I don't stream any music. If I didn't find it "elswehere" I'd rip the deluxe CD myself and make my own mp3s. I only sourced it "elsewhere" first so I didn't have to wait for the CD to arrive in the mail (and in fact I'm still waiting despite pre-ordering). Noel released a new album. I bought it directly from his store. I've purchased every album released by Oasis, Noel and Liam. How am I "a problem"?

The people who made this don't know the modern rule for editing documentaries? No more than 10 or 15 seconds of footage before there's a cut to somebody being interviewed. It's not really a documentary... it's more like a collection of clips that shows various moments during the recording process. It's extremely captivating though... it's like being in the same room as Noel (and Johnny Marr!) while they're crafting their magic. Ok so it's more like Get Back? Sounds good.

...How many different versions of the same album are we supposed to buy so they can get their “#1s”? Doesn’t help us the fan/listener. We don’t get rich or share the glory. We get poor... I'm watching part 1 of the documentary right now... It's really fascinating to see Noel at work, almost unfiltered and without too much editing. Nice stuff. The people who made this don't know the modern rule for editing documentaries? No more than 10 or 15 seconds of footage before there's a cut to somebody being interviewed.

I'm not paying for a track-by-track commentary. That's the kind of stuff artists should be releasing for free as part of their promotional campaign for the album. And they want Noel's fans to pay for that? All they have to do is add some new music - even just demos, rehearsals, remixes or instrumentals - and I'd buy it. They want to sell more Noel Gallagher music? Give us some new Noel Gallagher music to buy. On principle I do agree, but in this case it's 5 pounds for the album AND the commentary... less than one of those Starbucks coffees that everyone seems to like Five pounds for a commentary promoting the album I've already bought? Sorry, not interested.
