Columbia (White Label) I Will Believe (Live)
Both with Supersonic artwork.
Both these songs have already been available on the official Oasis youtube channel for years. What's so special about these two "new" uploads? Remasters?
So, Oasis tweeted a link to a new website, "oasismynet" and called it "the new home for Oasis fans across the world to get access to exclusive content, giveaways and updates tailored to you."
I signed up immediately. Nothing to see on the website yet, but...interesting?
Let's hope it's better than the official Beatles website.
Supersonic (Live at The Limelight, Belfast - 4th September '94)
Oh, look. Another live version of Supersonic
Am I the only one not excited about this?
I hope that "something special coming from the vaults" means more than some random live recordings...
It will be more than that! Fans will be able to record or write their memories and thoughts about Definitely Maybe at the new Oasis website and the best of those fan memories will be packaged into a new online exhibition!
Ordered the 7 inch off Rough Trade tonight , says it’s selling quite fast on there, can’t believe it’s 10 years since the Chasing the Sun campaign and that RSD 12 of Supersonic , bought that one back then , hoping for some nice releases and unheard music for the 30th anniversary of DM.
Maybe if fans stopped buying the same repackaged stuff over and over again then Ignition would instead spend some money on digging up and releasing some previously unheard stuff instead.
I dunno why they bother with videos anymore. Surely the visualisers they throw up are enough? Does anyone watch videos anymore? I buy everything Noel puts out, often in multiple formats and pressings but I’m sure there are videos of his I’ve never watched.
Yeah I love videos - the visualisers are awful.
I've got a USB that has a video clip for nearly every Oasis or Noel or Liam song on it (either a promo clip or a pro-shot live performance or a newly assembled clip made from documentary footage). It runs for 23 hours. No song featured more than once.
Often have it playing over the weekend. Can either kick back and watch the clips or just listen to the songs playing through the surround sound.
So far Liam's latest album is a bit of an issue with only three video clips and no pro-shot live performances of the other songs but I've assembled a few temporary clips using stock footage and other stuff that will bridge the gap for the moment. Being a USB it's easy to just swap an old video clip out for a new one when it turns up (each song is a different single video file).
So bring them on - the more videos the better. And if they can't be bothered making a video at least put up some pro-shot concert footage or spend an afternoon miming along to the album in the studio. Enough of these awful visualizers please!
Would love it if he took a risk and did something in the DM vein, but I'd be quite happy with something like this - even more so if there's anything in the style of The Man Who Built the Moon on it
I fucking love The Man Who Built The Moon. It's in my top 3 Noel solo songs. Some days I think it could be my no.1
The greatest James Bond theme song that never was.
...I want a pop album (with the kitchen sink thrown at it), and some psychedelic soundscapes ala Man Who Built The Moon. Very melodic songs like Sail On, A Dream Is All I Need To Get By, If Love Is The Law.... play to his strengths...
As fun as it was to get all those EP songs trickling out every months, I do sort of wish he'd held onto them and made COUNCIL SKIES a double album.
I always thought the odd grammar was deliberate and that's one of the reasons I liked the song - almost like some sort of speech pattern from the middle ages or the Bible. Indeed in terms of the spelling of the song title the image of a "son" having risen (instead of a "sun") also leans into that Bible imagery.
Now I'm told it's not deliberately odd and clever but just the band being a bit stupid? If that's true (and actually I find it hard to believe nobody in the band picked up on the odd phrasing at some stage of the writing/recording) then I don't like it as much!
Sorry, but The Morning Sun has falled in my estimation.
I don't think it was due to laziness in this particular instance mainly because 'risen' just doesn't fit with the melody, BUT it does get on my nerves a bit cause I'm a pedant!
They could have just changed "has rose" to "arose". The fact they didn't make a relatively simple change like this makes me think the grammar "error" is deliberate (somebody in the band would have spotted it) and Andy is winding that interviewer up.
Or even
He's in my mind, he's in my soul He's even in my rock'n'roll I stand alone, staying hidden The morning son has risen
The Sun Has Risen clearly didn't sound right. Rose has been chosen purely for sound. I dont think its a grammar mistake.
But they could have gone with another rhyme. "The Morniiiing Suunn has a hose"
BUT, i'd say usually when a word or verb doesn't fit it means that the melody is not the right one.
During the release cycle of the Beady Eye record I remember an interview where this grammar mistake was brought up and then it seemed like the band was surprised by it.. let me see if I can find it
Edit: The song contains the ungrammatical lyric, "The morning son has rose." When told by Q, guitarist Andy Bell said: "I can't believe I didn't pick that up. I'm middle class."

In Noel's HFBs launch press conference in 2011 he said The Morning Son had 'been around for the best part of 5 years'. If that is reasonably accurate then it's a DOYS-era demo rather than DBTT.
This just sounds more like a DOYS era demo than a DBTT demo.
Not unusual for a song that has been demoed to have some more work was done on it by the writer (especially if it's been overlooked for an album as "not good enough") and a new demo recorded. There could well be a DBTT era demo as well as a completely different DOYS era demo.
It may not be the best song in the world but I find it odd that (along with many other songs) it never made it's way onto the short DIG OUT YOUR SOUL album. Tidy it up with a proper studio recording and it would slot in quite well between THE NATURE OF REALITY and SOLDIER ON.
I would have been happy for it to replace the former.
The echo effect is a bit over the top on this. But it was never a good song to begin with anyway.

Some of the best gigs I've ever seen were bands with just 40 mins material- the Strokes on their debut album tour were perfect.
I think it should be law that a band can only play an hour set and then do 20 mins max encores...
ALL of the best gigs i've ever seen were like that!
The Beatles never played a gig longer than 30 mins (apart from hamburg).
There are exceptions. The tape of the Roxburgh gig that surfaced last year runs to 58 minutes and it's thought there were two more songs in the setlist that the tape didn't capture. That was April 1963 - four months after their final Hamburg gigs.
Many of the early local gigs in the Cavern and local dance halls would have been much longer than 30 minutes but I guess we all tend to lump that in as part of the "Hamburg era".
Still cant believe they dare releasing a record compressed like that, with such a good product underneath.
My tinnitus is back with only 3 listens on headphones. Unbelievable.
Its a crime against music
I've a sensitivity issue when it comes to my hearing and can't listen to Definitely Maybe through ear buds/AirPods. Do you have the same problem with that album? Not game to try this album, sticking to stereo and laptop speakers.
I just got back from watching Dune Part 2 at the cinema last night and Liam's new album - even when pumped up to 11 - sounds quiet in comparison.
Anyway, off the the dentist now to get my fillings put back in.
