Great season that arguably not only matched the quality of the parent show but often overtook it. Mike's sniper attack in the finale was incredibly intense with beautifully long, slow, quiet shots. A shame so many modern shows seem determined to have wall-to-wall music in their dramatic scenes (the X-Files and Doctor Who - great as they are - are two of the worst perpetrators of this style) because - as this sniper scene showed - there's often an added realism to something when you don't use music. ...Will be interesting if, when we get up to date with Jimmy McGill where he is now, after the events of Breaking Bad... I was wondering if they'd do that. Once the BETTER CALL SAUL prequel storyline winds up, they could do an entire BETTER CALL SAUL episode or entire season set after BREAKING BAD.

supersonic16, Please remind this Record Store Day release is an official stuff. Proboards forbid us to upload any official stuff on board. (the link on youtube is alright). Hope you'll understand. Cheers. No problems Mimmi - I think we all understand that we can't actually upload it directly here. Just hoping somebody might be able to point us "elsewhere" for the other two tracks.

Anybody spotted any rips of the single online yet? I thought they would be circulating by now.

My predictions -
-Oasis doco at selected cinemas for a short run late 2016 -Oasis doco on disc early 2017 -Be Here Now reissue late 2017 -New Noel album early 2018
Nothing else new in between (apart from vinyl reissues).
Hope I'm wrong but I think that's all we have to look forward to for a while.

Where can I find the Psychemagik dub remix? It was played on an online radio show - presumably from a promo CD or promo download of some sort - but I think they crossfaded the end of it with the next song on their playlist so the full version hasn't surfaced. For what it's worth, the standard Psychemagik Remix clocks in at 6.51 and the incomplete Dub Remix version I have from the radio show runs at 5.11. The full dub mix was probably roughly the same length as the regular mix. Jim may be able to chip in with some more information on this.

I've very excited/curious how Danny Boyle will adapt "Porno" for the big screen. First goal, new title. Won't work well for the cinemas! Just saying. I don't think the new film is based on Porno - I'm sure I read it will be a script written from scratch by Danny Boyle and Irvine Welsh. It still plans to be based on the characters being older, though what they're up to is anyone's guess. Correct me if I'm wrong! Danny Blyle doesn't really balls things up to be fair on him so I have confidence in him. Reading between the lines of some of the interviews I think they're adapting some of the novel but most of it will be a new script.

Ps I'm still waiting for a 12'' extended club dance mix of The Mexican, complete with additional wah-wah's. Won't be long till we hear the dance mix you predicted all those months ago! Thanks for this. If you hadn't just mentioned it in passing I wouldn't have known it was coming out. It seems a new Noel release if obviously not worthy of mention in most Oasis/Noel forums or websites.

Couldn't find a thread devoted to Irvine Welsh so apologies if there is already one (I did search around a bit).
Anyway, I've always enjoyed his books but I've pretty much read them in a completely random order and just bought one whenever I happened to spot it in a bookstore.
Some are obviously direct prequels/sequels to others (Skagboys/Trainspotting/Porno) but I've noticed that often characters from one book make brief cameos - or are mentioned - in otherwise unrelated books. It's a nice, interconnected universe.
I've recently picked up the only two Welsh novels I hadn't yet read and I'm looking forward to the new Francis Begbie book coming out soon. I've decided to read all his books as a marathon but was wondering if there's a definitive chronology. I know Skagboys is a prequel set before all the others and I assume that with the rest I can just go by the release date. Anybody know if that's correct?

But if you want ALL their b-sides you still have to buy ALL their singles. Unfortunately, the album doesn't make any of them redundant. Cigarettes and alcohol and Some Might Say are both entirely covered by the masterplan. You do lose a few minutes of I Am the Walrus though! Yes, I Am The Walrus has been heavily been edited for The Masterplan so you'd still need the Cigarettes And Alcohol single. And you'd need the track down the Japanese Some Might Say single to get the You've Got To Hide Your Love Away b-side.

Although it is nice to have all the songs in one place. And sometimes, only sometimes, I think it might be their best record. But if you want ALL their b-sides you still have to buy ALL their singles. Unfortunately, the album doesn't make any of them redundant.

If Noel carries on like this set lost wise, and he is still strumming along to listen up and its good to be free in 5-10 years, will anyone honestly prefer seeing that to an Oasis reunion? Imagine that long-sought for Oasis gig kicking off and it starts with Noel coming out first and singing It's Good To Be Free. I wouldn't know whether to cry or laugh myself dead.

I still love Noel's studio work. To me it's just as interesting as anything he did in Oasis and I'll eagerly welcome any b-side or remix he releases.
Not too fussed about his interviews - they're usually fun to read but I won't usually buy a magazine anymore just because it has a Noel interview in it.
His concerts are good - trouble is he does the same concert every night for the entire tour. Once they've been to one - or heard one online if they can't go - fans can stop paying any attention to the tour. Even if Noel picked up the acoustic guitar and played just one different song each gig it would be enough to keep fans interested. There would be that thrill of "what's he going to surprise us with tonight?".
When Jim's blog was active at least he was keeping us going every few weeks with a few rarities or remixes. We were still getting some sort of regular Oasis fix.
Currently being an Oasis/Noel/Liam fan consists of buying Noel's new album, perhaps catching him in concert once, then switching off for three years until something new from him comes along.

We'll most likely get a trailer around June then. This is an Oasis project - they're always delayed. Note that August/September announcement above didn't state a year.

...but something Kanye related having no press around it?? I doubt it It would give Noel publicity but I'd rather he went with somebody who had some musical talent - Kanye doesn't fit that bill at all. Kanye exists in a celebrity vacuum and has no redeeming features outside his ability to generate headlines on a slow news day.

The way nearly every TV news report intro begins - for example - with a general "MORE THAN 100 people have died" and then later goes on to tell us "104 people died". Why not just say "104 people have died" in the intro in the first place?
"The hottest day in nine years" is dramatically introduced as "The hottest day IN ALMOST 10 years"
"Stockmarket plunges 9 percent" becomes "Stockmarket plunges ALMOST 10 percent"
It's used in nearly every news report and headline these days.

Duchovny was a bit flat in the first two episodes but he's obviously enjoying himself in this third new episode. After all those years of playing the wonderful Hank Moody in CALIFORNICATION perhaps he just feels he's back on more recently familiar comic territory.
If - like me - you had a bit of a crush of Scully as you were growing up you might find it odd to see one of your fantasies suddenly coming to life on the screen in a wonderful moment that is so unexpected you can hardly believe what you're watching.
As a stand alone episode, MULDER AND SCULLY MEET THE WERE MONSTER is so perfectly pitched that it's hard to fault. It's been a long time since the show was this much fun.
As part of a run of a new series, however, it seems oddly placed - tossed early into the line up merely to show off the various styles the series is capable of. Unfortunately this episode takes the slot of some (at this early stage) desperately needed character development. I'm still finding it hard to connect with Mulder and Scully and the current lack of depth to them is holding the show back.
If you're watching this is as a marathon with the old series, you'll find Mulder and Scully sleeping together in I WANT TO BELIEVE, and staying in separate hotel rooms three episodes later. Quite why this change has happened has yet to be explained. More importantly, how either Mulder or Scully feel about this - and each other - has been completely ignored. If they don't care about their relationship - even if it's just a friendship now - how is the audience supposed to?
