Reviewers are shit scared of giving either of the lads a bad review, because they sell copies of magazines. Any of these could have been copy and pasted from the Be Here Now era on. I think it translates to- Solid record, loads of strings, needs a few more choruses and wouldn't it be nice if they got the band back together. Actually, both brothers have had mainly average reviews in their career, as you can easily check in metacritic or anydecentmusic. WBTM was the one with the best reviews, but still far from universal acclaim. Not that it matters much anyway Noel has gone 69-68-76 on his albums so far according to metacritic/wikipedia and it seems so far that CS will be above 70 at least. Not too shabby but not blowing smoke up his ass either.

Anyone who describes "Easy Now" as psych-tinged needs to change who they get their psychedelics from.

I don't really care about reviews, but it getting a good score so far may at least suggest the remaining tracks are not fillers

Can't wait for the pretentious Pitchfork review....cause if more than one person likes the band, it's crap!

It’s No Masterplan or Little By Little like Noel claimed. Easy Now >>>>LBL. Never understood the love for LBL. Decent in my opinion but super cliche. Vocals on Easy Now are so much better. I think Noel came into his own as a singer with The Importance of Being Idle

Easy Now Dead to the World Council Skies
Pretty Boy
Maybe it was listening to EN over and over while walking down sunny Market St. in San Francisco that did it, but I do love it. It's got the same feeling to me that Flying on the Ground does. Great summer tune. Have fun hearing it at the gigs this summer, lol.

Council Skies Dead To The World Pretty Boy Easy Now
Although I love Easy Now's verses, the chorus is boring as fuck. When Pretty Boy explodes it takes the track to a superior level than EN to me. Council Skies is everything I want from Noel, I'm ADDICTED to this little tune. And the same goes for Dead To The World. It's just that I don't press replay that much on it. Fucking excited for next friday

The only one that I really like is Dead To The World. That can stand alongside the singles from his last 3 albums. The other 3 songs aren't up to the standard he usually puts out for singles though. Pretty Boy and Easy now are decent but I'm not feeling Council Skies at all.
So far it's shaping up to be his weakest album so far. I'd put Trying To Find A World and We're Gonna Get There In The end about on par with Easy Now and Pretty boy so unless the few remaining song's we haven't heard are absolute bangers and end up causing everyone to scratch their heads about why they weren't chosen as singles I can't see how this one will be as good as his previous 3.

Agreed. The unheard tracks have to be scorchers (and please do use that word) to salvage this record for me. "Dead to the World" has a filmic beauty which I like if not adore, while "Council Skies" and "Pretty Boy" are enjoyable-enough quasi-bangers that would've worked as bonus tracks for Chasing Yesterday. I've no time for "Easy Now". The verse melody is sweet, but the rest is stale mashed potato slopped out with one of the worst pre-choruses of Noel's career. I hate when he tries to write A Good Noel Gallagher Song. It always ignores the great things about his work in favour of another pass at "Little by Little". Like chewing on wet cardboard. After all, even in recent times, he's proven he can make Dad-pleasing music with actual flavour to it. An album of these sounds would've been much more appreciated, and I hope Council Skies finds time for them:

Let's not forget reviewers are now probably 20/25 yo who think rock n roll gods are old school Coldplay.
So yeah, Pretty Boy must the new rage against the Machine.

I am actually optimistic with the album now
After Easy Now I was worried about Noel maybe playing it too safe this time, resulting in lack of variety in the album But now we have heard 4 songs, all quite different from each other and according to the reviews other songs also sound different. And I don't think you can conclude much about the quality of the other tunes because they were not singles: EOTR was the 5th single, The Man Who Built the Moon and Dead on the Water were not singles...Dead to the World was not planned to be a single and has no proper video...In turn, whatever you think of it, Easy Now is an obvious single
