But...but Liam didn't sing that one... The most famous Oasis song now. Sung by Noel Fake news!, as yer man Trump would say. Wonderwall is still their most well-known song by far. Liam's opening line of "To-day is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you" is probably one of the most well-known lyrical phrases in all of pop music.

I love how proud you are of yourself for knowing the exact date Absolute Radio released the results of the vote it had. People came to singing Don't Look Back in Anger after the bomb went off at Manchester Arena because one woman was filmed singing it at the vigil they held a few days after, outside the town hall, and this was shared wildly on the internet as well as on the news. Why she decided to sing that song and not Wonderwall, I cannot say for sure--maybe she'd just heard the song on the radio, on the way in? But I suspect it was because of the optimistic message of its title. I suspect she was reaching for something with a 'Keep Calm and Carry On'-type sentiment, once she'd made her mind up she was gonna do this terrifying thing of singing in front of these silent and sullen complete strangers, and so she opted for something by Oasis (because it's Manchester, so if she sung Oasis there would be a good chance people would join in with her), and something with a bit of pep... Wonderwall, if you take Liam's vocals away, is actually quite melancholic, and so wouldn't've fitted. Live Forever is more an indie anthem than a pop song, so you can't be sure how many people in a very general crowd are going to know it. Therefore that just leaves Don't Look Back in Anger.

Funny because it was voted on by the fans. Here’s a quote by Liam Gallagher. Liam Gallagher: "I Hate 'Wonderwall'" 1 September 2008 Noel’s not a fan either. He said it’s for the squares who buy music. In fact, Oasis never played Wonderwall very much live from 2000-2008. Maybe Acoustic, Ryan Adams style, which is better than the way the band played it with Liam. I have never heard a crowd singing wonderwall at a Oasis gig, like they do for DLBIA, every single night they played, no matter what country their in.

I have never heard a crowd singing wonderwall at a Oasis gig, like they do for DLBIA, every single night they played, no matter what country their in. By, like, 0.1% of Oasis's fans, yeah. Hardly representational, is it, one poll by one radio station that hardly anyone was arsed to vote in? And anyway, it's not just about Oasis fans. The mark of how well known a song is is whether or not it's known by people who aren't fans of the band. And Wonderwall is known the world over, by all kinds of people with all kinds of music tastes, for its distinctive strumming pattern and for Liam's voice singing that opening line. Don't Look Back in Anger isn't nearly as ubiquitous. " Oasis never played Wonderwall very much live from 2000-2008" ... " I have never heard a crowd singing wonderwall at a Oasis gig" ...I want two of what you're on.

Go check out the set lists between those years of 2000-2005 and prove me wrong about Wonderwall. Have you ever seen Oasis live? Wonderwall is my least favourite Oasis songs. It’s a huge hit, but DLBIA is bigger now. What do you think about this list? www.therichest.com/expensive-lifestyle/entertainment/top-10-worst-frontmen-in-rock-history/

Wonderwall is by far the bigger song. Not the better one, but it is bigger, no doubt.

Of course Wonderwall is a bigger/more famous song than DLBIA.
How's this even up for discussion.

In the UK, I guess, both of them are well-known, but it is not even comparable in the rest of the world. If in my country the radio station plays anything from Oasis, it is always Wonderwall. Wonderwall became a song that everyone knows, even if they don’t know which band’s song it is. Part of our collective music knowledge DLBIA did not reach that status.

Even in the UK, Wonderwall is still Oasis' biggest selling single.

Of course Wonderwall is bigger, just look at YouTube views, Spotify streams, sales etc.
Some people here getting personal preference and which song they think is “better” confused with which is bigger.

Are people really saying DLBIA is more well known than Wonderwall? Wonderwall is like one of the most well known songs in pop/rock music.
