Good effort. It's true (for me). I've just listened to it for the first time after years. The Roller and Four Letter Word are still 5/5's for me and better than pretty much everything on AYW and songs like For Anyone, Kill For A Dream, The Morning Son are still good songs as well. And at least this album is a 100% Liam (Rock n Roll straight in ya face) unlike AYW which is full of slow ass 'ballads'.... I like a lot of BE songs but have never been able to really take to the roller. The phrasing on it just seems really clumsy to my ears.

Remember the GEM factor. He is the opposite of the Midas touch. No GEM = good album Well, Gem wrote ITBWTB, 3RC, OATNE and IZ RITE. So I'm on Team GEM Whats ITBWTB?? I cant for the life of me work that out

I certainly enjoyed As You Were more than DBTT but that might be because I wasn't a fan in 2005 and Liam's album is actually my first Gallagher release since I became a fan.
Still, I think it wouldn't be wrong to say that AYW is actually the "better" album (whatever that means). For me DBTT has always been very average album, which is also its strength and weakness. I used to like Lyla but these days it's not that good for me anymore.

The great myth of DBTT is about to be broken. Always overrated.

There are a bunch of tunes that had no business being on that album. At least they needed some tighter production.

DBTT has, to me, always been very much on the same level as Heathen Chemistry. Both albums have obvious standouts (Songbird, SCYHO, Little by Little vs TIOBI, Lyla, POTQ), both have one or two songs slightly below that level and the rest is mediocre at best.
I'd call AYW a better album than both right now, although I'm not sure how it would fare compared to DOYS and SOTSOG - too early to tell anyway.

As You Were is great but DBTT is better. Take out POTQ for me and it's about as solid as an album as you can get.

DBTT has the better songs but AYW is the better album, go figure it out. The production is the key probably. I think AYW is a great sounding record most of all. Just got this fresh vibe.

The production makes AYW. Let There Be Love needs that type of production, for example. (Noel intentionally kept that song flat, and he was in the wrong with that decision).

Noel has been too much involved in the production process since SOTSOG i guess. DM fair enough, MG, ok, Be Here Now, ok. Those were his babies. But then, he should have just back off, write the good songs and trust some people.

As You Were is great but DBTT is better. Take out POTQ for me and it's about as solid as an album as you can get. DBTT has two great Singles Lyla and Idle. Turn Up The Sun is also very very good. Tons of low points and shit production on DBTT. It should have been a lot better. So many of us were blinded when it first came out because of a great lead single and peaceful touring time. But all the same problems were still there plaguing the album.

DBTT has a certain charm - like that emo girl with tights and a nice smile.
AYW is fucking Bardot, I’m Ill for this girl, please let her not see my desperation, play it cool or she might do one - that level.

I love both but i think DBTT takes it. Tunes like lyla TUTS TIOBI i reckon are better than anything on AYW and will probably stand the test of time better. Having said that i also think AYW is a more complete album so it depends on how you judge it

Looking back I feel bad for my 18 yo self. When DBTT came out I managed to convince myself it was great. And slowly over time I’ve realised it’s definitely not. As others have said it lacks the formula of Noel writing for Liam’s voice apart from Lyla. To use a Liam phrase it’s Beady Lite, before they even existed.
Loving As You Were and think it’s a lot better, bar 3 songs. In time though I think people will probably only remember Wall Of Glass.

As You Were is much more consistent. The peaks of Don't Believe The Truth are higher (although very few and far between, Importance of Being Idle, Let There Be Love is a very good song IMO but should have stuck to It's A Crime and never had Dave Sardy ruining it) but As You Were is a better and much much more satisfying album. Better sound, more rounded songs, no Gem and Andy, better Liam vocals too.

But the lows are also lower... I don't think so. Meaning of Soul, Love Like a Bomb and Keep the Dream Alive are all terrible! The first two in particular are probably the two worst songs Liam contributed to Oasis.
