Now that it's been confirmed that this is the next single and "The BIG One" on the album what are your expectations?
Wall of Glass was a good lead single to get the Ball Rolling... By all accounts and the record Company they consider "For What it's Worth" as the best tune on the album so personally I'm really excited to hear this. I also think it's brilliant that he hasn't played it live. Save the best for last and also have something fresh and exciting when it is released

It sounds like it might be a Stand By Me / SCYHO type song which personally Id rather Liam didn't attempt. But if it's good and does the job as a hit single then fuck it.

Surprising that the second single is a song they haven't ever played live yet: perhaps it's harder to play at gigs because the production on the studio version is too elaborate (psychedelic effects for instance).
Wonder if they'll add it to the setlist during the summer or if they'll do a "Songbird" or "Let there be love", i.e. release a single that they don't even play at gigs ("Songbird" wasn't on the setlists until 2003, at the tail end of the HC tour).

For what it's worth, it's not really worth a thread.

I think it's simply they aren't playing it because it'll be the main single before the album and want to keep it under wraps for as long as possible.

When can we realistically expect to hear it? Late July or early August?

When can we realistically expect to hear it? Late July or early August? If he was smart, 2-3 weeks before the album drops but I could see 5-6 weeks.

Everyone keeps saying that it is an 'Oasis-ey' ballad. This sounds promising but I'm taking it with a pinch of salt. I'm sure it's good - but it's so easy to compare Liam to Oasis. Have him sing a Miley Cyrus song and it'll sound like Oasis

I obviously have not heard For What It's Worth (Liam Gallagher Version) but I think the premise of the single may be genius for Liam's comeback. Two reasons:
1. Apparently it's very good (assuming this is true) 2. He said this song was an apology to everyone
I don't really think he has a chance to make any headway in the US, but I know the casual music fan in the US thinks of Liam as a jerk. One of the most influential stations Z100 NY has referenced how Liam was a jerk in their minds. But if he were to get an interview on Z100 on the morning show (unlikely) or other key stations and he comes across humble and releases a song about an apology, it may give him some positive buzz.
If the song is great enough (and it would need to be great to get played in the US), I really think a song that sounds like he's apologizing for past behavior (not that he needs to) the song can go somewhere or at least as far as a 40+ artist can reasonably go.

It's all dance, pop and teens. It's not really his audience or the stations to feature a guy like him. Radio is dead anyways. He could prob score a spot on Jimmy fallon. He likes good music.

I agree completely. I knew Z100 was a bad example but I used it anyway. Regardless of the media outlet, I think an 'apology' song will imprrove his appeal. He'll never make it big in the US but I think a song with that sentiment that appeals to the masses will definitely do better for Liam than others.

If any song is going to do it...it has to be this one.
It has to be a beautiful song that can be used on a hot tix show or commercial and it can go off...
We shall see.....

I'm an American Oasis fan, didn't break my heart. Rock stars have done far far worse than Liam, never apologized and remained famous.

Yeah lol what's all this apologising about?
My estimation of Liam would go lower.

Yeah lol what's all this apologising about? My estimation of Liam would go lower. He says in the Q interview that he asked for a song to be an apology but not like a desperate or needy one. Reading between the lines I thought an apology to Nicole but who knows. Anticipation definitely building for this song though, hopefully it lives up to the hype!

Yeah lol what's all this apologising about? My estimation of Liam would go lower. Why lower? Apologizing is often (not always) a nice thing to do, if you actually hurt somebody. That doesn't mean he has to apologize for speaking his mind on stuff.

Anyway, I have a feeling that this will be the best song from any of the Gallagher brothers in 15 years.
But it's, of course, just a feeling based on absolutely nothing.
I still do not understand why they do not release the album this summer. Why wait until October?

(Not questioning you, just too many threads to keep up with at the mo and still find time for beer, wine, sleep etc.) Thanks.
