Anyway, I have a feeling that this will be the best song from any of the Gallagher brothers in 15 years. But it's, of course, just a feeling based on absolutely nothing. I still do not understand why they do not release the album this summer. Why wait until October? For starters he only just said last week that the album is done. Way too fast to release it this early. It's already July. Noel actually finished his album sooner and his is coming out in November. So I guess October makes sense for Liam.

I just want to listen to it during summer I suppose.

Now that it's been confirmed that this is the next single and "The BIG One" on the album what are your expectations? Wall of Glass was a good lead single to get the Ball Rolling... By all accounts and the record Company they consider "For What it's Worth" as the best tune on the album so personally I'm really excited to hear this. I also think it's brilliant that he hasn't played it live. Save the best for last and also have something fresh and exciting when it is released Yo, where's the source for where this was confirmed? (Not questioning you, just too many threads to keep up with at the mo and still find time for beer, wine, sleep etc.) Thanks. Liam has confirmed in recent interviews the FWIW is the next single. Several people that have heard it have described it as a big sweeping oasisy ballad. Whether it's the best song on the album is pure guesswork by people who haven't actually heard the album.

The Noisey interview brought it up also in a very positive light.

I hate the hype for that track. I can't handle it...too many expectations usually let you down in the end. I think that his record company know what their doing... I hope it's good/great

Why is this now not the next single? Last minute change of plan?

Why is this now not the next single? Last minute change of plan? I think chinatown was a pre-order bonus and not a single, and For What It's Worth still stands as the second official single. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

I should've added a winky face to the end of that post as it wasn't meant to come across so sarky.

The Beat Goes On was supposed to be the BIG one, with all the Oasis hallmarks. Right....

Saw an interview for Noisey where Liam talked about this song having an Oasis-y/Don't Look Back in Anger vibe and recall some of the posters here saying that it's probably going to be the last single before the album is finally released in October.
Does anyone else here think that we might be setting ourselves up for a let down? If all of the songs have mostly been heard either live or as released singles and the reception has been a little mixed, I'm really hoping that 'For What It's Worth' just knocks it out of the park but I think I've been burnt too many times before (ie Beady Eye).
Thoughts guys?

I'm not too worried about being let down - what we've had so far has been good by and large - some of it great - a lot of people have said different things about what to expect the new material to sound like - that director bloke said it had velvet underground vibes - I don't get that....I think Chinatown was a nice way to mix it up after wog as would an oasisy vibe - won't be long til we find out

I think the fact that Simon Aldred has conwritten this is a very good thing. Those who recall Cherry Ghost hopefully would agree. Even his "Out Cold" album is brilliant. Hopefully it'll be a good one...

Hadn't really listened to much cherry ghost until I heard about this song being co written by Simon Aldred.
His stuff is excellent. Gives me hope that this song will live up to the hype.

If it´s the big one, the main single, i reckon we should start getting some peaks very close to it´s release point, like we did with WoG. Until then, it´s mainly speculation when it´s coming out.
I just fucking hope it´s not a Beat That Goes On or Bring The Light 2.0.
