I'm enjoying the new stuff and hearing some of the classics live, but does anyone else feel like the band is lacking a lot. They're technically proficient and the music sounds good, but it just sounds flat and lifeless to me....like a karaoke backing track. I wasn't expecting them to recapture the "Oasis magic", but it just feels a bit bland in my opinion.

I'll let you know after I've seen then on Sunday. I do think that they have a lot to learn about each other on stage and will improve as they go on.
Let's not forget they have only played 4(?) gigs together so far.
I do wonder if liam will be ruthless enough to replace them if they are not up to the task in the long run though, given that they are effectively his employees now, as opposed to 'bandmates'.

Are you basing this on actually seeing them or on the TV footage and YouTube videos? From where i was stood in the Ritz it was the most Oasis-like sound I've heard since 1997 and really highlighted how wishy-washy and polished latter day Oasis and Beady was live. My ears were ringing for days.

yeah those TV mixes are awful but judging from the YT videos, they're clearly a mint group - especially the drummer who's found the sweet spot between playing Alan and Tony's beats. I think they're still a tad green with the new songs and the guitarist that isn't Jay should be doing more lead work but it likely won't take long for that to gel.

I guess there are some issues with Oasis songs. Comparisons with Oasis are impossible to avoid. Rock 'n' Roll Star sounds like a tribute act, a very good one, but it lacks all the little riffs and it has too many pauses at the beginning when the rhtythm guitar has to keep on strumming. And it lacks edge, power. Plus, Noel's guitar part during the verses in D'You Know What I Mean? is very simplified, their live rendition of this tune seems rushed and doesn't capture the mood of the song IMHO. Maybe it's because I play these songs myself in a band and I'm too obsessed with Noel's guitar and the Oasis sound, but I feel Jay Mehler's guitar is not the most appropriate to play Oasis songs. Noel's way of playing Oasis tunes is irreplaceable. I enjoyed their live rendition of Be Here Now a lot, though. Other than that, the new songs sound pretty good. I really love Bold and Wall of Glass and the guitar sounds in these new tunes. Maybe my opinion will change as soon as they get to know each other more musically.

DYKWIM is murdered by them. As I said, I think they kinda rushed it. They should have listened to the 1997 live version of it a bit more.

There seems to be very mixed opinions on the drummer. I've not seen him live yet so I'll reserve judgement.
From what I've read about him tho he seems to have been a multi instrumentalist and producer/songwriter rather than a specialist drummer. Maybe it's showing a bit. A Jack of all trades as it were.

What exactly made you think he is weak? I think he is quite good. Of course not John Bonham but still

That's how I keep them apart as well. "Ok, that's a bass, that's McConnell." Mike Moore he's called, apparently. It's high time Liam solo got its own wikipage where we one can look up the names. Who f.ex. is the keyboarder?

Sorry but if you are watching that video and arent completely transfixed on Liam then are you even an oasis fan? Fuck the rest of it Who are you to judge who is Oasis fan and who is not??? You called me bellend few days ago just because I didn´t like one of the new Liam´s songs and now I am not Oasis fan because I don´t like his drummer that much. If you go to Oasis/Liam Gallagher shows to stare at Liam and you don´t give a shit about music then how are you better than some idiot who goes to Beyonce´s concert to stare at her ass??? Not all of Oasis fans are Liam Gallagher wannabes, mad fer it football hooligans who thinks that everything he does is awesome. I believe that majority of us are well educated, intelligent, music lovers and not skinhead, pub rock sheeps who seek for their idol to lead team through life. And I´m not saying that you are that but for ffs, this is forum, that is what we suppose to do, to discuss about all things about Oasis/Noel/Liam. And when hundreds of people are included in discussion it is normal that we will have different opinions. But that is not reason to insult people. What are we suppose to do, to only write ´´BIBLICAL!´´when Liam release new songs or has live show? Imagine what would that look like? Спортски поздрав!

What exactly made you think he is weak? I think he is quite good. Of course not John Bonham but still 1:40 The mix on that is horrid especially on the drums. A lot of the tom and kick drum work wasn't mic'd properly at all as you can tell here. I feel like y'all are unnecessarily harsh given what they're up against - Oasis practiced nonstop for years before DM and were a well-oiled machine. Even Mk2 took years to really gel as a lineup. This is a great start.

What exactly made you think he is weak? I think he is quite good. Of course not John Bonham but still 1:40 He is not playing on his own kit there and the mix was awful which is understandable as there was probably not enough time to do it right. Mistakes happen, one mess up does not make him a weak drummer.

An Oasis cover band is going to sound exactly like an Oasis cover band. How can you expect those unaffiliated with Oasis to connect properly with the material?
HFB similarly suffer, and fucked up the guitar part to Little By Little, etc.

You cannot tell anything about the band members with that mix. Some of the drums aren't even mic'd. During the guitar solo, the lead guitar levels aren't even up. Now I'm not saying how good this band is, you shouldn't judge their ability by listening to terribly mixed videos.
