This thread is such a joy, even if we're gathered here under unfortunate circumstances of a poor presenter decision by the Beeb.
Anywho, the first episode was painful. Chris Evans was far too loud and the segments he was in all felt too forced and cringe-y. However, Matt's review was good.
Second episode was a little better. The studio segments were still a bit shite, but the filmed parts were alright. The review could've gone a little more in-depth, but the SUV challenge was cool. Good concept that they nailed decently.
However, Extra Gear has far and away outshined Top Gear on both occasions, like you guys mentioned. It amazes me that they didn't pick Rory and Chris Harris for the main show and then let them decide the third guy.
Speaking of which, Matt feels like such a natural. He should be hosting, as opposed to Chris Evans, if we must keep things the way they are now, with Evans being pushed to the back.

Almost sort of feel for him...
He reminds me of a guy I knew at school who, being so sure all the time in himself always being funnier and more intelligent and better looking than everyone else in the room, couldn't see that actually, all the popular kids thought he was a loser, and everyone else just thought he was try-hard and a fake.
Having wrestled with shyness from a young age, I've had to spend quite a lot of my time in education either completely on my own, or just with one or two other quiet people for, you know, safety in numbers - but actually I'd say that that lad, despite having lots of girl's numbers in his contact list, and lots of friends on his Facebook account, was in a worse position when secondary school came to an end than I ever was: in fact, he was probably the loneliest person I've ever met.
Ego can be a noose around a neck the same as self-doubt.

Oh God, it's bad. So forced. Faked chemistry between LeBlank and the Limey. Soon they'll be so desperate they'll schlep out the Cool Wall, right? They should've just done a complete re-boot and ditched ALL the old bits and created new ones. It's a shame, really. The new Clarkson, Hammond & May show will be good I'm sure but there was something nice in them having to stay within the confines of the BBC's rules. It provided structure and a whipping boy for numerous jokes so goodbye to all the biting the hand that feeds goofs.
Oddly, they brought Top Gear America back after having axed it. I might be nuts (also, I'm American) but I like it. They ditched the car reviews mostly, as well as the star in a mid-priced car segment and just do challenges, which were always the best part of the show.

Extra Gear is better. I don't think Matt LeBlanc is bad though.

In the current edition of Private Eye. From their EyeTV column: Seems to echo the opinions of a lot of you on here.

The way it's going, I expect this series to end with an isolated and disheveled Chris Evans in an empty studio crumpled to the floor on his knees, whimpering, sobbing and screaming "Love me, just why won't you love me bluuuurgh uurgh!'".
Fades to black, credits roll, no music. Credits end, single gunshot is heard. An ambiguous ending - does it symbolise the end of Evans or a show that is dead in the water?

Evans ruins most of it, the rest are actually ok. Sabine Schmitz is pretty cool (and hot).

Can someone shoot Kevin Hart in the face?

Chris Harris should be the new host in place of Evans.

LeBlanc - Schmitz - Harris would be a decent lineup.

Much better this week, LeBlanc around London was great. Harris and Reid were great. Ditch Evans and you've got a show.

I don't think its that's bad, Its Top Gear. People doing stupid things in fast cars, not much has changed in that respect.
I had grown tired of Clarkson's little Englander act anyway.

Whatever happens, Rory Reid & Chris Harris have a big future ahead. Be it with Top Gear or if they do their own thing, those two together are gold. So natural in the studio together and their car reviews are great.

Matt and Sabine actually have chemistry, charisma, and likability. I genuinely think they could make a great show if they model it around their double act - I'd enjoy seeing them on an epic road-trip etc... Just, please, get rid of Chris Evans.

Good luck to them, they will have a lot to do bringing back lost audience figures but if the can build up their reputation then they stand a good chance of making a success of it. I don't think they can bring it back to the biggest show in the world but they are BBC so that shouldn't be the issue, instead they should concentrate on making a good programme that an audience will keep watching.

Episode 3. Dismal and abysmal. The LeBlanc touring London with a psycho racer segment worked. Not much else did. They should've hired the entire 5th Gear crew. They're not still making those, right?

Probably resigned before the Beeb were able to push him out.
Still, quite humble of him to tweet that.
