Noel thought. Is it that the AA record isn't rubbish? But instead is brilliant.
Did he try to recreate that with Holmes, but fell short?
I could go for more stuff like this.

Unless EyeLash joined HFB, I think this is in the wrong thread.

Best Oasis deal, and probably the coolest record, I've got.

Gonna go binge the first two high flying birds albums. Maybe Noel was just trolling us with DOYS.

I’ve listened to the first two albums back-to-back a couple of times in the last few days, and I have to say, I’m surprised by how good Chasing Yesterday is. Maybe NGHFB is better as a collection of songs, but CY is superior as an album. It’s cohesive, the production is great (well, yeah, The Mexican could be heavier, but I’m content with the others) and the vocals, contrary to the subsequent WBTM, are excellent. Even though it’s nothing spectacular, I think the cover and booklet art are very fitting as well. It’s a shame it’s not a deluxe copy, because I’m a big fan of Do The Damage and Freaky Teeth, but whatever - still a great listen.

I definitely listen to Chasing Yesterday far more often than Noel’s debut. The collection of songs I my opinion are stronger and more uptempo. His debut could have been much much better. I’ve been saying for years that Do The Damage and Freaky Teeth should have been on his first album over lame tracks like Record Machine and Stop The Clocks.

What a bunch of hypocrite bullshit to go after Noel for something like that. Option 1: Michael Hutchence had deep and complex mental problems which we know nothing about, which eventually sadly led to him committing suicide. Option 2: A comment of Noel about a fucking award show is the main reason that he killed himself. Imagine Chris Martin killing himself, right after Liam called him a geography teacher. The man would've been crucified. He was apparently really broken up about that. That was a terrible, nasty, and cruel thing for Noel to say. That being said, it most likely had nothing to do with his suicide.

Stop The Clocks would’ve been an excellent bonus track, just like Dead in the Water on WBTM. I wish they used a more stripped down version of STC though. The album version, especially with the loop bit at the very end, is very robotic and the ridiculous production ruins an otherwise completely good song.

Listened to Simple Game Of Genius for the first time in ages, it's absolutely epic. Far too good for Noel to have thrown away.

Noel’s view on remixes as b-sides back in 98:
“I've always been a fan of The Jam and the Smiths and they always had ace B-sides. So it was just my upbringing as a songwriter, really - I don't see the point in putting out a single and bringing out six remixes. That to me is just ripping people off”

See the above post about remixes "Remixed to death".

Now that we know all the songs from the three EPs, I'm really just happy we got them. The A-sides are obviously not the kind of song Noel would have released as a single from an album, and I wouldn't have wanted 10+ songs in that style anyway. But getting those little detours from Noel's usual programming, seasoned with some old songs, some more acoustic stuff and the gem that is Wandering Star, is exactly what I hoped these EPs would bring.
Peace.

Better to keep fans engaged and excited. Love when artists do this kind of stuff. Especially now with short attention spans in society. Thank you, next.

He's catered for all audiences with the EPs I think. But I guess some folk just want the dreary plodding drudgery of pre-Moon without any variety. Why in gods name I don't know.

He changed his opinion over the course of 22 years! What an asshole! He’s still giving us songs as b-sides in addition to the remixes too. Which is pretty rare nowadays. Plucking a random artist out of the air for comparison: I believe Liam has released zero songs as b-sides to date. X
