Dead in the water really isn't very good.

Listened to A Head Full Of Dreams (I don't know why, was in the mood for some poppy nonsense) all the way through while doing some work this morning, and remembered what a tune Up&Up is.
Then I remembered Noel played on it.
Then I remembered all the solos in it are his work.
And then I was like wtf are you doing Noel cause they're the best solos (I know, simple enough) he's come up with in about five years and he gave them to Chris bloody Martin.

Your reminder that Dead in the Water is a great tune cut from the same wool as '90s B-side gems like Talk Tonight and Half the World Away... It really is incredible. I constantly hear it used as an excuse for Noel to go back to his traditional way of songwriting. Let’s be honest here, that argument doesn’t hold and does it a disservice - he wasn’t even writing songs nearly as great as this in latter Oasis and early solo career. It’s exceptional from all that. It’s up there as classic Noel in the very best sense.

The Johnny one sounds like a loop of a couple of bars from the guitar solo of Don’t Look Back In Anger.

They both sound very Noel-ish, tbh. Then again, that makes sense, considering they were written together. Tbf, it's an absolute banger and it's great Noel's on it. But still... would love it in a NGHFB track!

Yesterday Noel was a very negative trendig topic on Twitter. A documentary about Michael Hutchence (INXS singer) was aired. During 1996 Brit Awards he hosted Best Video Award (Wonderwall) and Noel, while he was accepting the award, embarrassed him by saying: "Has-beens shouldn’t be presenting to gonna bes". He was very depressive those days and finally he committed suicide in 1997
It´s very odd that a comment from twenty three years ago can make such an impact today....

A lot is made of those comments and at the time they were friends and were friends through bono , Hutchence never recovered from his accident, noels comments would’ve dented an ego for a night but Hutchence had character to shrug that off ..bear in mind at the time him and Liam had a scuffle after Hutchence was pictured with patsy kensit .. quote author=" chamu" source="/post/1614126/thread" timestamp="1577700077"]Yesterday Noel was a very negative trendig topic on Twitter. The synopsis of the documentary mentioned Noel would feature in it, did they actually only include this footage from the Brit Awards & nothing more from Noel? I thought they'd show Noel talking in 2019 about INXS/Hutchence, more positively as he mentioned INXS among the '80s bands that influenced the sound of "Black star dancing".

It's sad and Noel was riding on cloud nine from the success (and coke) of Morning Glory so he didn't mean any malice by it; it was just his ego (and the drugs) talking. I think people overlooked Noel's admiration for Michael, when he's wiser, more mature, and more like himself, which is a shame.

I always thought Hutchence died accidentally from an asphyxiwank rather than topping himself. I may be wrong, I should probably check the documentary out.

Idk, I think Noel can be cruel with his "jokes" when he wants to be, like recently with Lewis Capaldi.

Yeah, watched it lasy night, it's basically footage from the brits back then (that I remembered well, I had it recorded in VHS) and some almost equally silly comment from Hutchence afterwards. But obviously, for the twitterati, Noel nearly killed Hutchence with his comment. You see, it wasn't Hutchence's personal life, self-destructive personality and addictions at all, it was Noel... I know Noel can be harsh, but, context people, context.

What a bunch of hypocrite bullshit to go after Noel for something like that.
Option 1: Michael Hutchence had deep and complex mental problems which we know nothing about, which eventually sadly led to him committing suicide.
Option 2: A comment of Noel about a fucking award show is the main reason that he killed himself.
Imagine Chris Martin killing himself, right after Liam called him a geography teacher. The man would've been crucified.

Wish the recent Noel songs had better production. Loved Black Star Dancing and This Is the Place live but on the studio recording they sound utterly lifeless.

Love Noel in his Burt Bacharach mode. So smooth and effortless. The dreamy 'la la la' bit gets me every time - one of my favourite moments in a Gallagher tune in years.
