Just listened to a live version of AGN from The Bataclan (of all places!) 2008 and I quite enjoyed it. I've heard it live 3 times during the DOYS tour and I always thought it was a good live number.
Now I know its not a fantastic song by any stretch but...I think it suffers from the same problem as I Can See a Liar. That is, had it been a bside I think it would have been appreciated more. Reminds me of The Who a bit, coudl have been a Quadrophenia number.
While I don't mind it on the album (thought the demo had more bite to it), I think it works well live. I like the A B F# progression and the insturmental middle bit, and the abrupt ending. All in all, its a decent number. Should it have been on the album? Probably not. But played live? I think it was a good choice. Just not for almost the whole tour - should have been switched for The Turning instead once the album came out.
I'm okay being the only one here who likes this song. But if anyone else has warm fuzzy feelings towards it, please share your thoughts!

Listening to this one, Gem's solo and Chris' drumming really make the song. Liam's snarly vox are perfect for it.

The only issue I have with this song is that the lyrics are bad. I would'be let it slip if it was just a demo(and that version was better for me) or a b-side, but this is a fucking done song.

I hate the song so much that every time I listen to it, I wish I'd never been born. Seasons greetings! (Is it too early to say that?)

like many of the songs from this era the live version is definitely better than the album version, which isn't saying much.

There are so many different songs that I'd rather they have played other than this, even from DOYS. It didn't really deserve to be on an album, much less the setlist for the ENTIRE tour! Also the fact that they also played The Meaning of Soul too. I just don't understand the thinking behind it!

I like it as well. I still think DOYS is one of their best, even with the weaker songs. Perhaps it just doesn't have the nostalgia factor the earlier albums have.

No, it's not that bad at all. In fact, it's a classic!

I don't remember the live versions that well, but the album version sounds like something you'd hear on the menu screen for a Super NES first-person shooter game in 1994. That isn't so bad necessarily, but it needed to be the backing for something with better lyrics. As it is you get slapdash lyrics over a song that just doesn't seem to go anywhere.

The scream and little descent into feedback bit is great.
Playing it and The Meaning of Soul at the same gig is ridiculous

I like the song. But I understand why people hate it.

it has its merit on the album in some weird perspective.
can't polish a turd though, this song is pretty poor.

Sure it's more fun live but it just reminds me of the fact that someone actually wrote that piece of shit in the first place, saddening thought.

The drumming is OK. Otherwise...garbage and terrible songwriting.
