"Told you it was crap!" - Mavers' words on Lillywhite's mix, along with his autograph.

I'm kind of disappointed this isn't really happening now. I've waited so fucking damn long to hear more material from Mavers anyway and then hearing rumours of the prospect of not only finally hearing those unreleased songs but also having Liam singing on them (and maybe Mavers doing some studio enhanced backing) made me frantically excited. Damn you Paul for crushing my hope I knew immediately how unlikely it was, but still, that combination could have been beyond amazing

I have to say I'm surprised. Surprised and shocked. Shocked and scared. Scared and angry. Angry and disgusted.

Why is it that the most exciting Gallagher brothers news is usually of the fake variety? Fiction better than reality?

This was never going to be anything other than a truckload of utter whale shite.
For Lee Mavers to return to music would be a truly colossal event, something that would stun a lot of people in the industry. There would be so much hype and publicity after all the talk of mysterious La's albums twice as good as the first.
In short, Lee Mavers releasing new music would literally be him doing the unthinkable - not something he'd have any reason to share with the singer of the recently disbanded Beady Eye.
It made no sense from the start.

I fuckin hate the tabloids, I really do. Every other month they keep reporting that Oasis are reforming it's just really annoying even though we all know it's not true. There's always a 'source' giving some bullshit quote, twists my melon man.

True, however nowadays many people wouldn't put Liam in the same league as Lee. 15/20 years ago may have been a different story but endless tabloid crap has seen it all become a bit of a tiresome charade. But hey, the collaboration isn't even happening anyway.

I love that album its brilliant but there's not much evidence that it was anything more than a flash in the pan. I have much more time for people who put there necks on the line and carry on putting out music. I don't know why he is due any more reverence for disappearing.

I wouldn't quite say reverence but the extended inactivity definitely increases the intrigue around anything he may/may not do in the future. A slightly similar situation to the Stone Roses who, after having not released an album since 1994, would generate a hell of a lot of interest if they were to release anything else.
