So are you guys going to do Chasing Yesterday? (hint, hint) I've already done Riverman, Lock All The Doors, and Dying of The Light, but I'm obviously not going to upload it, that would be illegal since the material hasn't been officially released.

I've also tried it with a few of the tracks, mostly the same ones as The Avenger. It will be better to wait for the proper version for both quality and legality.

Decided to do some of Second Coming, a very underrated album. Squire is such a badass on this. Love SpreadsSquire's guitar riffs are more isolated, not much else. Great tune as always. picosong.com/Lr4NDriving SouthReally good OOPS! You get pretty much a great instrumental with Squire's guitar is being more isolated and you can hear the dark, low piano notes in the beginning. Ian's vocals at 3:20 are really good as they are stood out. I believe Reni sings as well here too. picosong.com/Lr4DGood Times Squire's guitar is even more out front. picosong.com/Lr4GTearsCut out the the acoustic part and went straight to the plugged half. You get a really ominous vocal from Ian and Squire's guitar is really cool to hear. Reni's drumming stands out and gives the song a cool 80s vibe. The quality of this one is less than the previous ones but it's still relatively clear. picosong.com/Lr42Enjoy!

Seeing as I can't do ANY of this stuff (and what you guys do is REALLY impressive), do you know if you could isolate the vocal synth on Xtal by Aphex Twin? I really love that sound and have always wanted to hear it on its own. Sorry if that's a stupid question

Sorry if that's a stupid question Download Audacity, import your mp3 or wav file, click the drop down menu in the track and click on split to mono. Select one of the tracks, then at the top where you see Effects, hover over it and it drops downs a menu. Click on invert. And there ya go.

Sorry if that's a stupid question It's usually quite difficult to isolate vocals because they are usually panned towards the centre. Using the OOPS method, everything that is in the centre is cancelled out by inverting and therefore silenced. The way to isolate vocals is to find an instrumental of the track and invert that against the original song. Finding an instrumental that is mastered at the same level is often quite difficult though.

I'm not sure if that would apply, its more of a synth than an actual vocal so I would imagine the panning is different - but of course I don't know

Most of the good Oasis songs have been done already, so it's time to branch out some more. I Want You (She's So Heavy) - Silences the vocals and brings the lead guitar and the organ to the forefront. There's an excellent organ solo that is much clearer with this mix. www.sendspace.com/file/uq95cvThe Long And Winding Road - Allows you to hear the track in all of the Spectory glory. The orchestra and the choir are in full voice here. www.sendspace.com/file/qxu8uuLola - This is one of my favourites. The piano is now the driving force behind the song. The drums and bass remain and the vocals you can hear just sound like the harmonies. www.sendspace.com/file/tqpqcu

Wow! Check out all the instrumentation! Had no idea how layered this song actually is, this sounds incredible as well. The music to this actually sounds like something Noel would do now with the High Flying Birds. Great work dude!

Some DBTT B-sides, courtesy of JimThe Quiet OnesYou get a great acoustic instrumental. picosong.com/LiDNPass Me Down the WineAlso becomes a instrumental. picosong.com/LiD7Won't Let You DownInstrumental as well. Liam's voice is still vaguely listenable. picosong.com/LiDHEyeball TicklerCut the first minute out to skip to where the OOPsing shines. Noel's guitar is isolated. picosong.com/LiDr

Now that we've got the CD and the tracks in high quality we can hear what's buried under the songs in Chasing Yesterday. The answer is: basically nothing! OOPSing most tracks doesn't reveal anything you can't hear in the normal mix, but it can bring more in the foreground some interesting sounds. Three clips to start (as usual, the tracks are not public on soundcloud and they're only short heavily modified parts of the original songs, so...): Freaky Teeth (clip): soundcloud.com/m-car/freakyteeth-oops-clip/s-Z61RhYou can hear more clearly the backing vocals (those Ahh-Ahhs are great!) The Dying of the Light (clip): soundcloud.com/m-car/tdotl-oops-clip/s-hwte8Some vocals and drums in the background alongside that beautiful piano. Revolution Song (clip): soundcloud.com/m-car/revsong-oops-clip/s-Pf1nWThe organ/mellotron is much more prominent here, as is the piano. Nothing else to say.

These are great, what program did you guys use to do this? The two I use are Audacity and Logic Pro. It's quite easy if you want to do it. Download Audacity (it's free), import the song, split the stereo song into two mono tracks and just invert one of the tracks. Then you can export it as a new song if you want or just listen to it in the application.

Like the guitarwork in the chorus. Is it just me or can you faintly hear the harmonica at the end of the chorus (it's all over town etc.) as well?
For the rest it's not very interesting.
