I read in TIME Magazine, 97% of eligible voters voted in the independence referendum....that's an insanely high number. I think in the U.S., like 40% of eligible voters voted in the last presidential election, and more people voted for the American Idol winner than for the U.S. presidential election or something to that effect.
God bless.

UK Conservative Government: "a referendum would cause uncertainty and division".
Oh the fucking irony.

Rooting for the independence, to be honest.
No country should have to live under Tory rule just because of all our over-fifties being utter twats.
Do think it'll be another "No" victory, though.

I voted no last time as well.
I’ve been Labour all my adult life but they are non existent in Scotland now, badly let the country down and I don’t believe they are capable of overthrowing the Tories in England even with that scumbag Boris Johnson in charge.
I’d be more inclined to vote yes this time if the SNP would give straight answers on tax, pensions, hard border with England, currency, funding etc but all you get is half a story, blaming Westminster even on matters that have been devolved for over 20 years… To be quite honest I have no faith in any Scottish political party as it stands and the country needs some form of closure on independence and recovery one way or another.

I kinda agree with the issues you raise, and its why I voted no last time. Now I've just had it with the UK, the way things are looking the world is going to burn regardless so I see no point in voting for more Westminster tories, hoping they are going to throw us a bone. They UK is irreversible broken now and if Scotland vote for independence then Wales and especially NI will quickly follow. As painful as it might be in the short term, I think its inevitable now.

my late teens/twenties band years were spent in the company of many Scots, with many visits up there. I grew up thinking of us all as 'british' with no national distinction, even though all the bastards I was hanging with hated the english!
the reason it never bothered me was because me and my english friends were always the last ones standing after the drinking was done...
I'm a big supporter of govt on smaller levels, away from centralisation. So I get the independence movement from that angle. The contradiction for me is that the SNP want to jump straight into the arms of the EU, giving away more sovereignty and putting central governace even further away!
What I don't like as the basis for a 'yes' vote is some slightly veiled hatred of the english hidden behind a mask of nationalism, which, in most other countries is usually seen as a bad, extreme right wing viewpoint.
The practicalities that Jim raises are all valid points and unless a highly detailed, funded and worked out plan was put in front of the public I think anyone who voted for independance simply 'with their heart' would be making a grave error.
I'd hate to see the UK broken up, but the french would love it of course.

If this were a marital divorce us English would be asking for nothing from the mediation. Apart from Alex Ferguson. We’ll keep him. You’re only part of the union because you needed England to pay off your national debts in 1707. Too many movies have fed the silly myth of English rule and oppression. “They’ll never take our freedom”? The Disney version of history. Dear me. Get out. Do one. Drift and skedaddle. Good luck.

I’d like to see that movie. So much revisionism. Some of it subliminal. At least us English know our crimes. Oh…we’d like Billy Connolly as well. He’s cool.

I hope you vote for independence. You’re no use to us anymore. If you ever were. Sad thing when I see posts like this. I live in London, I like England with nothing against, I don't particularly like the shortbread tin nationalism of the SNP but I am proud of being Scottish and the Highlands & Islands culture that my family derive from. This stinking post just reeks of the worst type of 'In-ger-lund' stereotypes. The sort of banana throwing, booing at the knee, Brexit supporting, Hillsborough chanting knuckle draggers. Spoken like somebody who votes for those blowjobbers, racists and paedophiles in governments with no sense of shame at voting that way.

Google “Hawaii”. In all seriousness, my only issue is that at this juncture I see independence as inevitable - for various reasons (most of which have been touched on already in this thread). And because of referendum lethargy. And because you’re making yourselves look like indecisive whingebags. So, like, please just vote leave and be done with it. Thanks.
