... Idlewild with Post Electric Blues.
I know hardly any of you have heard of them, but how these guys aren't massive is beyond me. They looked to be on the cusp of stardom 7 years ago, but that hasn't diminished quality in this great band. If you don't know about them, check them out.

I would love to say SIMPLE MINDS - GRAFFITI SOUL (best album in 15 years, would you believe!) But i won't show you up with your lack of Simple Minds knowledge. Artic Monkeys released their best album to date Each album gets better Ian Brown released a quality album! his possible best album to date! Best album of 2010, look no further.......... (the city of Preston gets a mention! not that this swung my vote... )

Kingdom of Rust. It definitely was though. Well, I forgot about that one, but I would say Idlewild just edge it. And I don't think Ian Brown's album is that great - same old Ian Brown talking it up as if it was the greatest thing since sliced bread, and once again, it was a disappointment.

Been meaning to listen to that album for a while!
For me, it'd be Phrazes for the Youth by Julian Casablancas with West Ryder in a close second.

in order
1.Kingdom of Rust-Doves (stunning enough said) 2.First Days of Spring-Noah and the Whale (that album is prefect soundtrack to the end of a relationship and moving forward) 3.West Ryder-Kasabian (has some of their biggest tunes) 4.Phrazes for the Youth-Julian Casablancas (please don't take this long for the next album)

has to be Humbug (who would have thought I would have said that a couple months ago!) Your level of stupidity knows no bounds does it? Next you'll be saying Coldplay are better than Oasis. Oh and it's Kingdom Of Rust.

Nobody heard Idlewild's album yet? Come on, there must be some Scots on here that have as well as me!

Nobody heard Idlewild's album yet? Come on, there must be some Scots on here that have as well as me! I still need to give them a listen. They should be great. My albums of 2009 are definitely these ones: Until The Earth Begins To Part - Broken Records Forget The Night Ahead - The Twilight Sad Be proud matt with these two Scots bands. They're not "everyone's bands", but really fantastic. I've seen BR 5 times and TTS once. Can never get enough of listening to their songs.

I'm not too familiar with Broken Records, but The Twilight Sad are great. I'll check Broken Records out.
And if you want to listen to Idlewild, start off with the new album I mentioned, or 2002's The Remote Part - that one got to number two on the UK Album Charts and is was as popular as they got. They were beaten to the top spot by some band called Oasis with an album called Heathen Chemistry.

^ Thanks matt. I'm gonna get their new album first.
Frightened Rabbit and Mogwai are brilliant too. "The Midnight Organ Fight" by Frightened Rabbit was my best album of 2008.
Have you heard "Killed My Parents and Hit The Road" by The Twilight Sad? It's an EP you could only get at their gigs. They've done a fanstastic acoustic cover of The Smith's "Half A Person".

Doves - Kingdom of Rust...best album of the year. Probably the Doves best. Well worth the wait.
Honorable mention: Them Crooked Vultures, Dead Weather, Julian Casablancas, and Pearl Jam.

Yeah, I see that EP is only available via itunes now - I rarely buy of itunes but I'll have to check it out. Their first album is amazing though. And Caro, I'm going to sleep easier tonight!

Loved West Ryder and phrazes for the young, but has to be Kingdom of Rust.
Oh and Supersonic, thanks for convincing me to see them live, saw them on Tuesday and it was incredible. Kingdom of rust is probably my fave song in ages
